Great location and clean rooms”

Great location (walkable to River Kwai Bridge and day market

Great location. It's only about 100-200 metres to the River Kwai Bridge, Art gallery & War Museum, and the day market (where they sell Thai snacks, souvenirs, gem jewellery, clothes, food). It's along River Kwai, and buffet breakfast (freshly cooked eggs such as sunny side up or omelette, sausages, toast, salad such as lettuce, cherry tomatoes, sweet corn, egg fried rice, juices, coffee and tea, yogurt) is served at the open dining area that's along the river Kwai. Rooms have fast speed wifi, it's clean with towels, bottled shower foam and shampoo and free 2x mineral water daily. Twin beds is actually 2x super single beds that's joined together, hence looked much bigger. Resort provides tuk tuk to night market (abt 40baht/pax) to the night market (open space temporary stalls selling food, snacks, clothes, souvenirs, etc) that's near the Railway station. Tuk tuk from resort to Kanachanburi bus terminal is 100baht for 2pax. Resort offers day tours to nearby sightseeing (waterfall, elephant rides, tiger temple, death railway, etc), but unable to customise (hence we opted for a taxi to bring us around instead). Staffs were helpful as they immediately sent someone to help when we commented that the toilet flush is chocked. There's a mini swimming pool within the resort premises too. Definitely a much better location then staying at City centre.

Lovely resort ”

We spent 4 days at River kwai bridge resort. Room was very clean. Good air-conditioning,nice bed and good facilities. At breakfast there was plenty of food to choose from. The restaurant is by the riverside with a beautiful view of the bridge over the river Kwai. The resort is only a few minutes walk away from the bridge itself. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to visit kanchanaburi.

Walking distance to famous bridge.”

Clean resort, restaurant overlooking river, comfortable bedding.

I was very pleased with the entire experience of staying at the River Kwai Bridge Resort. It is within short walking distance to the bridge, and war museum. Kwai Road, as this section of Kanchanaburi is referred to, is a quiet area with pubs and nightlife a little further up the road from the resort. The nightlife is near enough to walk, but far enough away that the incredible peacefulness and serenity of the resort is not disturbed.

An oasis at the River”

In walking distance to the Bridge, immediately adjacent to the famous River Kwai, the resort offers everything a traveler expects for a short stay at this historic place. We were six people from our Rotary Club and followed the recommendation of one of our members, who as an ambitioned Golfer stayed sometimes at this resort. The place provides parking space (guarded), has basement and 2nd floor rooms and bungalows and a nice garden area. Away from the main village road it is usually quiet in the evening. The breakfast included in the room includes everything you can wish here in Thailand, typical fried rice, fried eggs, fresh fruits, fruit juices, coffee (service yourself) from a professional coffee machine. And an amazing river view. After having had dinner twice somewhere in more fashionable places along the river (like the LOFT) at “international” prices we decided to take our last lunch on the river terrace of our resort. And we had delicious lunch at very reasonable prices!

The headlines say it all”

When you first arrive anywhere new and you have only seen the place on the Internet, sometimes it doesn't do what it says on the tin but this resort? does, it is right next to the river, (When Pierre boulle wrote the book and Peter dean made the film, neither of them had visited this area but had heard of the death railway which ran parallel with the river Kwai, it was the Kwai for so long then the big Kwai and we Kwai converged into the Meiklong which the bridge goes over, the Thai government changed the Meiklong to the Kwai in 1976 for obvious tourists reasons, Good hotel great location, lovely staff, really enjoyed my stay here

Great location, fantastic rooms”

Rooms, location, staff

Staff were excellent, very friendly, couldn't do enough. Rooms were high quality, despite being individual huts, each including a veranda. Breakfast was very good and the restaurant overlooks the River Kwai with a (sometimes partial) view of the bridge. This hotel is away from the main 'town' of Kanchanaburi, which suited us; it's close to the market and floating restaurants by the bridge but only a 15 minute walk (although be wary of dogs, late at night) or 80bht tuk-tuk ride from the main bars/restaurants. Would stay here again, as excellent value for money.

Great Atmosphere”

atmosphere, clean rroms, friendly staff

The hotel has a wonderful resort feel atmopshere and the dining room overlooks the river. Staff were very friendly and very patient with us (tired travellers). We did not dine at the restaurant but the buffet breakfast was great with fresh cooked eggs and banana pancakes! Wifi did not work in our room at first but they were up straight away fixing the problem, the same when a wasp came into the room at night, someone came straight away to remove it. The hotel is very close to the River Kwai Bridge (5 minute walk) and therefore also close to restaurants on the river, markets and taxis/boats/sightseeing options etc. We had decided to go to the Floating Markets at Damneon Suduak and the hotel organised us a taxi that would take us there, WARNING there is a big scam going on where the driver takes you to a private pier instead of the Main pier and tried to charge obscene amounts of Baht to hire a boat becasue the driver gets a cut from it (We hired a boat from the main pier for 150B each!) So i dont know if the hotel knows that this heppens but i found it to be very common on the internet when i researched it and thought that if they knew they should warn people seeing as we trust them to hire us a taxi driver.

Quiet relaxing stay”

Good location, quiet surroundings, lovely riverside restaurant

River Kwai Bridge Resort is located within easy walking distance of the famous bridge in a quiet riverside location. Accomodation is not luxurious but the rooms are of a good size, well maintained and clean which are my main requirements. Staff are friendly and welcoming and those we encountered were able to assist us in good english which is not always the case in small resort hotels away from Bangkok. Overall our stay was trouble free and we returned home relaxed and recharged after a most enjoyable break away from the heat and humidity of Bangkok.

Affordable, convenient, and close to almost everything”

River Kwai bridge resort is a charm little place along the Kwai river and a few meters from the river Kwai bridge. The place can use some renovation, specially in the bathrooms, but is comfortable, clean, with a very good wireless internet access and a very good buffet breakfast that you can enjoy in the terrace of the restaurant that faces the river and the bridge. The hotel is a walking distance from the River Kwai Bridge, the War Museum and the Jetah museum. There are several options for restaurants close to the bridge. The swimming pool of the hotel is nice and well kept. The price of the hotel is very affordable. Piece of advise, do not ask for a room with a view, because they really do not have a view, except for the restaurant.

location, price, food

We stayed in a villa which we really liked, no problems. Other reviews have said the mattress is hard which it is but we still slept fine. Clean and tidy resort with pool right on the river. Was a relaxing way to spend the afternoon having a drink and watching the boats go by. Short walking distance to the River Kwai bridge. Plenty of restaurants nearby. Would come here again.

Beautiful stay by the Riverside”

My parents and I had a great time here. The restaurant has a gorgeous view of the river and the River Kwai bridge. We were very close to the main River Kwai area and were able to take a short tuk tuk ride to the night market, which was lots of fun. The room itself was comfortable with a nice balcony overlooking the restaurant and river. We booked a private boat tour with the hotel and we were picked up right at the restaurant, so it was very convenient. Overall, we had a great time here and would stay here again!

Nice relaxing place.”

The place is nice, walking distance to the River Kwai Bridge. We rented a car and managed to drive to a few areas. Like the Big C and night street food nearby. We were lucky and got a resort near the entrance. We also used the pool. For some reason, we can't float in the pool which is weird. The bed looked super huge. (turned out to be 2 joined beds. Lol!). The toilet bowl drains super slowly. Was worried it was going to clog (it didn't). Overall the place is nice, calming and relaxing. Staffs were helpful and nice too.

Very Good Location Within Sight Of "The Bridge"”

Historic Area, with sad past, but Great Location and Great Sightseeing

We stayed here to visit the Bridge and Death railroad where so many compatriots suffered and died at the hands of the Japanese in WW2. the hotel is quiet and peaceful and a perefect base to meditate and ponder on the sad past during the Japanese invasion. The hotel was an easy walk to the bridge and we were able to take tours from here to Konyu Cutting, the Australian-built museum dedicated to the men who fought and died building the Railroad under terrible conditions. The room was large and adequate for all our needs. breakfast was good too, overlooking the River Kwai and the Bridge. Will highly recommend this hotel and will stay here again for sure.

Value for money”

We stayed in a room for 3 persons (1 bug bed and 1 small bed), the room is spacious enough for 3 persons and still have room for luggages. The location is fairly good, 5 minutes walk to the famous River Kwai Bridge, you can actually see the bridge from the hotel's restaurant too. Breakfast was good! They have both pork and chicken options for those who eat and not eating any stuff. Vegan can be a little problematic but can customise tour own eggs. Too bad the pool closed a little early (8 pm) so we havent had a chance to try but it looks good in the next morning we departed.

Great location and grounds, nice restaurant, rooms are clean, well appointed and a good size, friendly helpful staff

We were given a double room instead of twin bed room but that was sorted out very quickly. The beds and pillows were quite hard which didn't lead to a great nights sleep. The staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant was great - good food and a great view right on the river. Limited assistance was available for arranging tours/activities - and we had to pay cash rather than credit card. We enjoyed our stay at the River Kwai Bridge Resort.
