Beautiful resort in the jungle”
I can only say good things about this place! My children and I had a wonderful and pleasure stay. Beautifully looked after even though it is located in the middle of a jungle. Surrendered by nature, it is the perfect place to relax. Although there is not much sign of civilization around (so do not expect to escape to the nearest city easily), the resort offers some internal and external activities. Walking distance, there is an interesting cave full of bats located in a National Park. Most exciting for us was going Bamboo rafting in the river Kwai to visit a Mon tribe and swam back to the resort. There is also some entertainment offered by the hotel, like a Mon dancing show, but that was temporarily cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions. Staff was really polite and servicial at all times and accommodated all our requests efficiently. Rooms were comfortable and clean and surprisingly (given the hostile environment) insects/bugs/animals free! Overall, we loved our stay and we will certainly be back when visiting Kanchanaburi.
Exceptional”
Great place! Friendly staff that solves problems right away with a smile. They were helpfull with the boattrip to the upstream River Kwai Jungle Resort from which you can float back to the Resotel in your lifejacket in an hour or so. The kids enjoyed it as well! Ghe pool is beautiful, breakfast/lunch/dinner had a good variety and was all very tasty. The cottages are well designed, decorated and clean!
Wonderful !!!!”
we really love the place !! it was so sad to leave. some may say that the hotel is inconvenient as you would need to take a short boat ride to reach the hotel and the location is a distance from kanchanaburi town. but we think that this is the real plus point. the hotel is private, natural and real relaxing place to be. best of all is we dont see a single car !! the only food available are from the restaurant and the prices are reasonable (for a hotel standard). their prices are even much cheaper than in some bangkok cafes. their local dishes are great. try their thai green curry !! rooms are private, clean and comfortable. a real good deal for the price. the staffs are friendly and helpfull. i must note that the manager is very hardworking. you can see him working quietly to make sure that everything runs smoothly. he is there first thing in the morning and is always the last to leave. thank you for making our stay a pleasurable one..
cool place in the jungle”
we rent a scooter at kanchanaburi about 65-70 km from the hotel, we have only a very simple map, we are good riders but we looking for this resotel about 3 hours to find the pier where we take the boat. This not the hotel fault! just if you want search this hotel you must be patient the gps not good also. the route back from the hotel to kanchanaburi was 1:15min. But the hotel is amazing don't execpt a lot from the rooms but the envoirement is amazing. and the food is incredible tasty and rich also dinner and breakfast.
Lovely resort in remote location”
We enjoyed our stay in a deluxe bungalow here. It looked quite new, very well designed with separate shower and toilet and sliding doors which open to a balcony. Comfortable beds and built-in sofa. Breakfast good with many kinds of food available. The Resotel is located next to river Kwai, has two swimming pools, beautiful gardens and is very well kept. Access by boat or small country road. We would definitely stay here again.
Dear Paul, Thank you for your recent stay at our resort and sharing your valuable review. We are very terrific to learn that our latest guest received a pleasant experience during staying with us. Highly hope to welcome you back in the future. Regards, River Kwai Resotel
Quaint, Idyllic escape!”
our young family enjoyed our staycation at River Kwai Resotel. Delicious and affordable food, friendly staffs, amenities - everything we basically need are there, so we don't have to go out and find anything more. We would definitely recommend it to our friends.
Natural beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder”
We drove miles after miles to reach this resort. Negotiating winding road with not much vehicle in sight except yours. It is a resort located almost at the end of a tarred road accessible by driving or through boats on the River Kwai. It was quite a tiring drive but the moment you see the signage at the entrance, your mood momentarily swing to an exhilarating mode. At the reception, the counter staffs were helpful and friendly. They mentioned that the resort was well taken up and the jungle cottage I booked was no longer available. They voluntarily upgraded me to a deluxe room, hence making checking-in a breeze. The room is large and it looks impeccable after quick scrutiny with all essential provisions in place. It was welcoming for a home away from home.
Secluded hotel next to the River Kwae/Kwai”
Our stay at the River Kwai Resotel was great. It is a really nice location in a national park next to the River Kwai/Kwae and close to a Mon indigenous people village. The food is great, the pool is also very nice. The life music with dinner is a nice addition but it is unfortunate that in the weekends it turns into a very loud Karaoke-like place which disturbs the peace that normally hangs over the resort. My advice to the management is to also consider the other guests that do not necessarily want to hear loud music until late at night.
What a beautiful cottages”
We loved everything about the Resotel. The staff is super cheery and happy and smiling. We also stayed one night at the sister hotel "Float House" where staff was very grumpy and lacklustre or unmotivated (and price is very high). The staff at Resotel created so much good energy and happiness and really looked like they had fun among the staff. The cottage/bungalows at riverfront are so nice, maybe the best I have ever been in in such a remote area. Bathroom looks so nice as well as the main room with many beautiful wooden elements. It has a lovely garden, pool and great kitchen for diner. What is not to like here? Check-in was only a little bit chaotic....
Resort hotel in a jungle”
We arrived at river kwai Resotel by local speed boat. But the road to the pier was very hard to find because there was barely any signs to tell the way. It took around ten minutes to get there. The Resotel was placed next to the river in the middle of jungle. So my first impression was its fantastic view. Once we arrived, the receptionist was nice and welcome. We were able to ask them everything we want to know. Then we decided to have lunch there. Because it is placed far from facilities, most food were cooked from cans or ready made food. Our room was clean and I loved the decoration inside where some furnitures were made of bamboos. There were varieties of activities that you can choose. I took the kayak. Since kayaking in the thick forest was amazing experience. End though this Resotel is far from town and it may be inconvenient sometimes, but the nice view and staff were great counter the negative points.
Great stay, back to the nature”
I'm impressed with this hotel's location and hospitality. First of all, the staff are friendly and helpful, most of them can communicate in English well. Secondly the location is great, river view, it's so peaceful and beautiful. The only thing can be a problem is this resort is located deep inside the national park, you must drive quite long way to reach there. Finally, the food is amazing, both buffet and A La Carte, it's delicious. I will choose this resort if I have chance to come back to Kanchanaburi next time. Highly recommended this resort to everyone.
Perfect retreat”
After reading a few negative reviews here I arrived with slight trepidation. I have stayed in other similar jungle chalets before and know a few of the problems some people mentioned. However... i found none of thise problems here myself. Staff were very friendly and very helpful and pleasant and the room i had .. 608 was really beautiful. It was spotlessly clean and freshly smelling. Aircon was very cool and everytbing was as it should be. The grounds of the hotel are beautifully kept and the nature is stunning. A few renovation works were underway at the time of our stay and probably the reason we got a fantastic deal on the price. These didnf pose any prblems to me at all during my stay. Food was very good.. plenty of choice and buffet breakfast was plentiful. I recommend a walk through the grounds to the float house sister for lunch by the river. All in all a great place to visit and i will be returning on my next visit to tbe area.
Dear Richard, Thank you for your recent stay at River Kwai Resotel and sharing your great compliments with us and others. We are happy to hear that everything was to your satisfaction. We are looking forward to your return in the near future. Kindest regards, River Kwai Resotel
Great place in the jungle”
Very relaxing resort on the river kwai. The resort placed itself in a quiet area so you can hear only sound of the nature. Room is big and clean. Foods are great. There are many activities to do in the resort. You can watch stars at night too. All are very good. Will go back again for sure.
Beautiful resort - go for a good deal”
The facility is beautiful and recommendable with children. Activities can be booked at the hotel, but prices are higher than outside the resort (double). Staff is friendly and helpful but they do not all speak well English. Bring some cash whilst trolling the resort, you can buy some local products and visit a cave. From Bangkok taxi ride is about 4.5 hours (longer than estimated 3.5 hours). Try to combine this ride with a stop at the river Kwai bridge which is on the way to the resort (free). In winter bring a vest/jacket, mornings and evenings can be rather cool. I booked this resort with 50 percent discount which is value for money. Next time I would look for a deal like this again. I would not pay full prices for the resort. I had a room with view over the river Kwai. This is great although rather noisy as boats start around 6 six in the morning and cleaners / gardeners around 7 hours. View is impressive. I would recommend the boat trip over the river. The nature is beautiful.
Dear C., Thank you for your recent stay at River Kwai Resotel and sharing valuable perspective. We are happy to learn that in overall, our latest guest received a pleasant experience during spending quality time with our meticulous accommodation. Highly hope to welcome you back in the future. Regards, River Kwai Resotel
Awesome Resort”
A secluded quaint resort right beside River Kwai... Recommended for couple or family travellers to relax and escape from city bustle. We would advise to stay 2 nights at least here to enjoy surroundings, facilities and the resort. The only downside is the food is very oily and not good taste.
Excellent Resort!”
We went for a mid-week break - a great location by the river; quiet and clearly a lot of effort has gone into planning and outfitting the resort. Staff were helpful, the dining facilities fine. a good base from which to explore upper Kanchanaburi. Try the river cruise (early morning). Our visit was during the COVID crisis and the staff were very professional in the way this was managed.
Forest Resort”
The resort is quiet nice, peaceful. Staff are friendly and helpful. In order to effectively communicate with staff you must speak in local language not all staff have good English skills. We booked superior river view room but did not get it because not all rooms are located for river view area. That was a downer. Maybe it was the better than way because the speed boats made a lot of noise during the day picking up guest from one pier to another. The resort is far from everything so best to buy in things from convenience store before. If you buy things at the resort it does get pricey. Unless you don't mind. We had our transportation so it was easy to leave the resort and get things from outside. All together it was a good experience in nature.
Beautiful resort ”
The resort is beautiful, you feel like in the jungle. Bungalows are very nice and big. Breakfast was good and food in restaurant was very good, the prices are around 130 bht. The problem is location, they tell you that the only way to get there is boat from pier and when you get there late you have to pay 1000 bht for transport. But thats lie... You can get there also by car. They also provide expensive trips to watrefalls etc, but you can get to the waterfall by taxi. We got taxi from Bam Tok train to the pier and the driver gave us his telephone number, so we called him when we wanted to go to sai yok waterfall and he gave us ride there and back for 1500 bht. So i recommend you to get the number for the driver so you are free to plan your trips on your own. At the reception they won't get you the taxi because they pretend that the only way is to take the expensive boat. That's not very nice....
Relaxing”
The staff at River Kwai are excellent. The nice lady that works the check-in during the afternoon was incredibly helpful and pleasant. I am sorry that we did not get her name but she went above and beyond for us, helping to arrange onward travel. We were one of the very few that were solo travelers and not on a group tour. That being said, please note that without private transportation it can be a bit tricky to get to and from the resort. While the location is what makes this place special you are pretty much shipwrecked here. We stayed for 5 nights, I would recommend 3 max... at which point you have run out of activities and eaten everything on the menu. Also if you are traveling with children you must keep in mind that you are in the jungle. While the resort is beautifully landscaped and well maintained we encountered a king cobra just off the paved path leading to the Mon village! This sighting was confirmed by two locals and google, it was definitely a king cobra! Keep a tight eye on your children and on where you step! All told we had a great, relaxing time and would certainly recommend a stay here.
Nice hotel ”
Good It is located at River Kwai. It ‘s private and quiet. It is suitable for those who love nature and privacy. Food is good. There are mini bar, towels, amenity kit, massage, activities and breakfast provided Bad The hotel is located 20km away from the main road. We couldn’t not find the entrance and any signs of the resort. So we got lost 2 times . The hotel should have signs every 2-3 km . And there was no air conditioning remote, we could not adjust the temperature. At night it was so cold.
Dear KULTARIN, Thank you for your recent stay at River Kwai Resotel and sharing valuable review. We are delighted to learn that in overall, our latest guest received a pleasant experience during spending quality time with our finest accommodation. However, as you mentioned regarding air conditioner remote control, may we further explain normally all our our chalet are installed and set with this certain item, therefore during staying with us should guest discover such a absence of this device please feel free to let us know so that we would be able to address matter in time or even offer the new room instead with no additional charge. Regarding your additional suggestion, this would be definitely kept as our rarest data for better improvement. Highly hope to welcome you back in the future. Regards, River Kwai Resotel
