Exquisite surroundings, Good facilities & Friendly Staff”
Approximately 1 hour drive from Kanchanaburi city in mountainous and bamboo jungle area, on the Khwae River. An extensive range of room options - the room I stayed was very comfortable. 3 pools. A range of outdoor activities, didn't ask about cost. Short drive to small village with restaurants and attractions, plus waterfalls and other cultural attractions in the area.
Relaxing Getaway from the Crowds ”
Pros: Gorgeous hotel; big room (Thai Raft); clean; good air con; relaxing atmosphere; 20 second boat ride to the onsen, which is unbelievable (it has 15 separate onsen pools); good food; friendly staff; If you want to get out of Bangkok (or any craziness in Thailand) and want to relax and chill out, this is the place; right on the Kwai River Cons: They have live music around 6pm, which can get noisy, especially if you want to relax quietly! You have to climb many steps to get around but oh well; about a 4-hour ride from central Bangkok; other than that, nothing really
Great hotel but over-run by Russian tour groups”
we booked this hotel on the net and our first impressions were very positive. the rooms were comfortable, clean and the river view rooms had an amazing view of the river. the main problem is the hotel is full (5 to 10 busses every day) of russian tour groups. we toured thailand not to have russian music playing by the poolside bars. the staff were fantastic, especially in the restaraunt. they all have an amazing service attitude and did an excellant job looking after us. we booked the river longtail boat ride and also booked a spa treatment at the brock valley hot springs spa across the river. unfortunately as we were due to depart the hotel 5 russian tour busses arrived and we had to compete with hundreds of russians all going to the same spa. khun mickey did a wonderful job looking after us there and tried her best to keep the russian hoards from the hot spings we were in. lack of wifi was also a problem. the only place wifi was available was in the lobby but the mozzies were a problem.
Jamais si pres de la nature.”
Check in very fast. Comfortable. We feel like the river Kwai talk with us. Very quiet and cool stay cut from exterior world. Meal was great, many choice of food. Biggest space resort. Lovely place unforgetable.
Large holiday village”
When we arrived at the reception desk they said: Agoda, OK, this is your room key. So we went immediately there to discover they were giving us a Mountain Wing bedroom when we booked a River Wing one. We complained and they quickly gave us a River Wing bedroom. The hotel looked fully booked and it seemed they tried to cheat with us, but did not really apologize. The River Kwai Village Hotel is a Russian holiday village, full of Russian people, all signs written in their language. This hotel is a little old fashion and would need some refurbishment. The rooms are clean. The buffet at restaurant is for international tourists, every day the same, and is not what you could expect in a thai restaurant, but they have a Menu if you don't like the buffet.
River Kwai Village”
This hotel is NOT well signposted. We wanted to stay here because we wanted easy access to Hellfire Pass the next day. There were a few signs, but not enough for us to be confident we were going the right way. When we got there, the check in is smooht and the hotel is very big and impressive. We had booked river-view rooms and we set off with the porter for the long walk down to the river. It is quite a long way, but the rooms are RIGHT on the river, so sitting on the balcony with that beautiful view is a real treat. Pity there is no mini-bar or tea or coffee making facilities! So, if you wish to sit and enjoy a drink on your lovely balcony, bring your own! (Or order room service). Dinner there was ok - quite nice and reasonably priced - but nothing special. The (set) breakfast was again, standard fare and quite ok, but also not special. The hotel has many facilities, a lovely pool and is able to book trips etc. Overall, a very nice stay - and once we found it, it is only 10 minutes from Hellfire Pass!
Big but nice hotel”
This hotel is located in the woods next to the river. Its very quiet and peaceful. However, on the night we stayed there was a party with load music. Luckily we booked a Raft room, so could not hear much noise. The room is big with all necessary amenities and very spectacular view! It was amazing to see a sun rise, above the green forest with fog. The hotel has 2 pools, second one is on the other side with a small slider. Even through the pool was not so clean by kid had a fun time there. Breakfast was fine, not bad, but not so great as well. However, they have various of activities which are very closed to the resort. You should try ATV!
Apart from the Staff, the stay was fantastic!”
I was there to enjoy the short holiday and the hotel served us best on both value for money and the location. We wanted to stay somewhere in rural area since we would like to escape the crowded space. The hotel has enough facilities for you to enjoy the stay. There are so many activities you can do within the hotel space. The staff are not bad but not what I would say good as well. Some are helpful but some are not. All in all, the hotel is a good pick for your holiday in Karnjanaburi.
Still one of the better affordable options”
We only stayed one night as part of a Kanchanaburi tour, but we stayed previously at this hotel in the river wing, which was bad value in our opinion and this time booked a raft room instead. That was a good decision, although the raft room is pricier, it is also of much better standard and provides a nice memory of staying overnight on the river. Service and staff were good, also the ordered food was okay. The breakfast buffet however, while being plentiful is still as horrible as before, they use the cheapest pastries and bacon they can find, the former taste awful and the latter like cardboard. Overall, the stay was nice in the raft room, avoid the breakfast!
Great staff and beautiful place”
Our stay was absolutely amazing. We got the river raft rooms and they were gorgeous. The staff was so friendly and helpful and went above and beyond. The hotel was perfect. I would recommend this place to anyone.
Great Place to stay with lot of activities”
New Wing Building was really nice. Room was spacious and great view. Don't miss boat ride along kwai noi river and best thai on-sen.
Nice location and view with the river and mountain ”
If you would like to find the hotel which comfortable and nice location in river and mountain, very nice spa (onsen Thailand), and many activities with adventure for your vacation. I strongly recommend this hotel.
Good place for activities and fun”
This hotel is 60km far from the main city and on the bank of river which make it beautiful place to stay. Having said that if you pay extra money, you can utilize various activities over there. From example archery, paintball, atv, dtv and various massages.
wonderful location”
We visited off season so were pretty much the only people there in this huge resort on the river. The old part of the hotel is a bit like a horror movie set but the new wing is great. There are some good faciities the slide in the pool is awsome. The minor bird gallery and their vocabulary is unusual We loved it for one night. I think its mainly a group conference place.
River view hotel with many pools on large property area”
+ very large property area, supposedly full in bloom in the high season (Q4-Q1) + [many] rooms with a direct view on the Khwae river + many pools (>3 large pools, with slides for kids, etc.) + excellent choice of (mostly Thai) food at breakfast + kind staff - many buildings are a little bit outdated (as is common in TL), but still good and clean. The new buildings and pool on the east side are modern and the rooms look great.
Good hotel but expensive transfer”
this hotel can offer a lot of opportunities to relax and activities. it has own atvs with many tracks, own boats and massage salon. very good location on the river kwae with handmade waterfall and river with giant fish. 2 good pools with waterslide and fountains located in the nice jungle area. good buffet for reasonable price.
Nice surroundings Good value Relax Hotspring water”
Our stay was absolutely amazing. We got the Royal Wing rooms and they were gorgeous. The staff was so friendly and helpful and went above and beyond. The hotel was perfect. We intend to go to this hotel because of new very good spa, Rock Valley Hot Spring Fish Spa. I would recommend this place to anyone.
Cheap with big room”
The room which I booked was around 3,300 THB. Although, the room is recommended for 2 persons but beds are wide enough for 3 persons to sleep together because there are 2 adjacent queen beds. The size of the room is big too, you have enough area to walk around the room without feeling too cramped. However, the price of adventure activities are too expensive. You need more than 500 THB for riding ATV in the specific area.
Rivers Inn Hotel”
This hotel is an idle place to stay if your a tourist visiting the sites along the death railway. It has a nice pool and other facilities to be enjoyed in a quiet setting. You can have a bungalow room floating on the river kwai or a nice room overlooking the river. To stay here you either should have some type of vehicle or come on a guided tour as it is out of the way to say the least. If i went again i would make sure to take a vehicle and not rely on public transport like i did on this stay
Excellent”
I stayed at this raft room for 3 days and 2 nights during the weekdays. It was peaceful and the staffs were friendly. Nothing really stood out for me except for the extreme sports, which some were limited to group of people. So, if you are a lone traveler, keep in mind that there’re limited numbers of things you could do. Furthermore, if you are having trouble with your knees, I seriously do NOT recommending this place due to numerous steps that you have to walk uphills. I got quite a workout from just walking from my room to the cafeteria. I didn’t do the spa thing. It just wasn’t for me. I love that there are 3 pools that I could choose to swim within the hotel. Overall, I enjoyed my extreme sport activities and serenity of the place. It’s a decent place if you’re there as a group.
