Nothing fancy, but holidays are what you make of them!”

As per many of the reviews, the cottage and furnishings are very dated and the price is a little high for what you get. That being said, we were glad to be able to find somewhere at short notice to get away for the weekend, with the added bonus of being pet friendly. Some maintenance required on the properties, with a tap that was constantly leaking, and a very noisy fridge. I would recommend being realistic about your expectations and read a few reviews. If you are the type of person that wants to stay in something modern, or spend a bit of time in the accommodation, maybe its not for you. If you're in the market for a quick getaway with your furry friends and just need somewhere to rest your head, maybe give it a go!

Quiet, private and nice nature location”

spacious and comfortable cottage; nice location right by the river; quiet and private

I'm writing on behalf of my Japanese friends who stayed here visiting from Osaka. But I would certainly stay here myself. Don't expect luxury accomodation and room service. The cottage is old but clean and very comfortable and has all you need. For the lazy, it's about a 20 minute walk to Augusta town centre. MY friends really enjoyed their stay. The negative reviews I read are mostly unfair. Just one thing- since the matches were dodgy, I'd make sure to bring a gas lighter.

    Great cost-benefit ratio”

Good size; easy to get in and out; and the price

Very good, we reached it a bit late and the keys were set to us in a tool box with a password, all good. The living room of the cottage was great, and we had dinner and breakfast at the place - it has all kitchen facilities and appliances. It was a very good stay, better than expected.

    Fair”

    Location

The stay was not pleasant. It was a cold afternoon and we had just come back from Whale watching. The weather had turned gray and cold on evening of 23rd June 2014 and after we lit the fire we noted that cottage had gotten really smokey. The smoke alarm had gone off a number of times. We thought it was because we were incompetent in fire building being city people. When we looked up at the ceiling the joints between the chimney flue and the ceiling had smoke coming out. While none of us were asthmatic, it make the room unlivable. In the end we had to kill the fire in the stove. Luckily enough during the 1.5 hours of lighting the stove, it had generated enough heat to keep the living area bearable but the rooms were cold. I think the stay would have been more pleasant if the fire stove worked. We had to use the extra blankets in the bedrooms to keep us warm when we slept. Please fix the flue.

Great location, reasonable tariff, but you do get what you pay for! We found ourselves in total darkness our first night due to a power failure and no candles for over 4.5hrs, so bring your own candles “just in case”. The basics are supplied, but our cottage could do with some maintenance, looking tired! Overall though we enjoyed our stay and would return! 😊

    over booking”

I booked this accommodation a few weeks ago throght you Agoda. Last Saturday, my family and I arrived at that accomodation about 1:20 PM from Perth 400 kilometers far from that accommodation, and there was no one at the reception. I called the hostel number. Someone checked my detail, and he said your check in is from 2:30 PM. Also, he said he would come back at 2:30 PM. When I contacted him again at 2:20, he told me I will come back at 2:30. But, there was no phone call, so I called him again at 2:35 PM, and he said "I am driving. I cannot check". after this, he hung up and never called again. at that time, A housekeeper came out near the reception and said there was no room left because of a full booking. She said that several teams has already leaved today because of the overbooking. I couldn't find a place to stay because it was Long Weekend. Neither Augusta nor Margaret River had accommodations. We eventually ran three hours back to Perth. Our vacation was the worst. I would like to know whether this is a problem with Agoda or that accommodation. I would like to be refunded the cost which already paid to the accommodation. cheers,

Place wasn't available on the day ”

We arrived just after the checking in time but the Cottage wasn't available. I had to wait outside in the car for 2 hours with my 3-year-old boys (Twins). Finally, their manager informed the property is not available. Luckily we found a BnB place in the town (Since its the holiday season, only one place had a room for the night). The receptionist from the hotel that we stayed in stated that we are the 3rd guest who arrived from Riverside Cottages on the same day. Terrible.

    Poor”

We booked a 3 bedroom chalet and got given a 1 bedroom and 4 beds on a mezzanine floor open no privacy, as the room I booked was given to another couple prior to our arrival. The fridge and freezer was very dirty. The shower and bathroom floor still had hair from the previous person in it and their was obviously 1 mop used for the bathroom and throughout the cottage. Advertised as a queen bed and had a double not big enough for 2 adults. Overall I was not impressed with the stay. We had stayed here many times previous to this new ownership and enjoyed our stay. Probably won't go back again.

No accomodation despite having a payed confirmed booking. Disappointing down the whole line”

There were five of us, looking forward to spending time in the Southern of this brilliant Australia. We had booked this accommodation for one night. Unfortunately, as we arrived there around 5.30 pm there was nobody at the reception. So we called the number written on a paper at the window. After a short conversation he told us, that he hadn't confirmed anything and that everything was fully booked. We on the other hand, had booked the accommodation few days earlier, received an email saying that the creditcard had been charged and the accommodation had been successfully confirmed. Even that didn't help. He didn't care and hang up. So there we were standing in Augusta, exhausted after having driven more than 5 hours. As it was a long weekend, there was no bed anywhere. The only thing we could do is drive back. It was rainy, windy and imagine how dangerous it was on the road with kangoroos. We have never been treated like that before and don't recommend it at all.

    Location is nice

I stayed there for 2 nights and did not meet any staff at all. A sign on the door gave 2 contact phone numbers but one was disconnected and they didn't answer the other. A neighbor showed me where the key was hidden behind a gas bottle and that's how I got into the room although I don't know if it was the correct room. This must sound unbelievable but it is absolutely true.

    Above average”

Bed was horribly uncomfortable. Wiring of lights and fans kept cutting in and out. Tap would not turn off. Booked here as the properly was stated as being pet friendly - but more likely pet tolerant. There is no enclosed yard, tether points, or manure disposal bins. We left early as we were so exhausted from being unable to sleep in such an uncomfortable bed. The location was lovely, but not enough to compensate for the other issues. We were really disappointed. I hope they improve on these points because it could be great.
