One of the best beach holidays ever”
If you haven't been to Ngapali Beach, Myanmar, you should definitely go. It's beautiful and not as touristy as many beach destinations and the Burmese are extremely thoughtful and gracious. And if you're a value-conscious traveler like we are, you'll love the Rivertop Lodge. The rates were substantially less than those resorts located directly on the beach, but it's only a 1 minute walk to the beach from the Rivertop Lodge and its facilities are immaculate. The staff is very helpful and friendly, there's a beautiful pool, and the on-site restaurant serves delicious authentic Burmese/Rakhine cuisine, as well as some of our American favorites. The concierge was extremely helpful and booked two of the best snorkeling trips we've ever been on. The listing said the Rivertop Lodge was a 3-star but it was actually more like a 4- to 4.5-star resort. We loved it! When we return to Ngapali Beach we will definitely be staying at the Rivertop Lodge.

Great option for almost lowest price in Ngapali”
It was very nice to stay at Rivertop Lodge as awesome beach resort is combined with comfortable hotel with fair price and outstanding service. The stuff was very helpful and we had a very great time staying there. We took boat trip at hotel reception and had transfer to the airport arranged. The room was very clean and comfortable with all necessary stuff in there. It is only 1 minute walk to the best beach we have ever been in our lives. Comparing to other hotels located right at the seashore you pay 2 or even 3 times less and actually get the same. You can have a dinner at any time at the hotel for the price equal to restaurants nearby and all meals we had were very tasty. Recommend this place to everybody who would like to save money visiting Ngapali.

Good value for money”
Rivertop isn't on Ngapali beach but can be accessed by a very short 1-2 minute walk, so you barely notice the difference. This also means that the price of staying at the Lodge is a fraction of staying at one of the big beach-side resorts. The Lodge provides a much quieter alternative to those who don't like the big, expensive and very commercial, resort-experience, but still provides lovely, clean and comfortable accommodation and excellent service. The friendly staff provide airport pick-up and drop-off service. The breakfast provided both local and continental options, sometimes set-out as a buffet and other times made fresh to order. Ate in the restaurant once and was pleased with the meal. The Lodge is a bit far from some of the more highly rated local restaurants, but bikes and e-bikes can be hired to access these other food options more easily.

Wonderful stay at Ngapali beach”
For Ngapali beach, Rivertop Lodge definitely is great value for money. The rooms are very spacious and clean, and the breakfast is excellent. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive. To get to the beach you only need to cross the road (just 100 metres walk), where you'll find great sun loungers and umbrellas. We were happy we stayed here!

Highly recommended”
We stayed at Rivertop Lodge for 2 nights and had an amazing time. Clean rooms with nice beds and 3 (Western) movie channels, amazing service and great food. It's located on only a few minutes (walking) from the beach, and is priced much more friendly than other accommodation in Ngapali. Highly recommended!

Great location hotel and friendly staff”
My friend and I had a great stay at the Rivertop Lodge. Right from the moment we were met at the airport (free shuttle pick up and drop off) the staff couldn't do enough to help. They had our room ready before the 2pm check in so we could freshen up and hit the beach, and directed us to the hotel's free sunbeds on the beach just across the road. The rooms were spotlessly clean, with a safe for our belongings and the showers had good pressure. The nightly rate included breakfast, which was a buffet with the usual fruit, toast, some hot buffet items, and eggs/omelette cooked to order. There's plenty of restaurants nearby or you can hire a bike if you want to check out the beach shake restaurants, like e did. Yes, there's some building work going on next door, but it didn't cause us any disruption during our stay, the workmen only seemed to be working during the daytime when we were on the beach.

Wonderful staff, location, value!”
We were so pleasantly surprised at this hotel. Despite the wonderful reviews, we didn't expect that we would enjoy it so much. The staff were 100% attentive and cheerful, the rooms spacious and comfortable, and the value for the location amazing! That the hotel is across the street from the beach makes absolutely no difference. It is just a small road, making you a few yards further than the beach hotel across the way, for which you doubtless would pay more, and which appeared to be fairly shabby, at least from the outside. There are chairs under the umbrellas specifically set aside for the Rivertop guests, so our concern that we would be stuck sitting on sand was unfounded. This is also a very scenic area of the beach as a whole, and far better than what we saw at the better resorts, nearer to the airport. Those seem to be just beach, whereas this area had lovely rock formations, a view of a nearby island, and is adjacent to the Pleasant View Hotel's restaurant, which adds to the scenery. The breakfast included pancakes, which was a welcome surprise after three weeks of eggs, and I was given noodles when I kiddingly asked, which was also a wonderful change. The only negative is the location of some of the superior rooms. The standard rooms face a large lot of trees, but most of the superior rooms face the walkway. When we asked to change we were given the room at the back, 110, which faced a lovely garden and a mountain, which was absolutely perfect. It's almost not a negative, as you can spend less to get the better view. And this is an issue only if you enjoy sitting on the bench out front; if that isn't important to you, and I think that it isn't to most, then the location of the rooms is a non-issue. I can't bring myself to let this minor issue lower my perfect rating for the hotel - we were just to happy with it!

Perfect value for money/ outstanding staff”
We first stayed at a guest house but wanted a bit more comfort so we were looking at very expensive seaview bungalows. In the end, river top staff showed us the rooms and the hotel and we instantly booked the rooms. The beach with own sunbeds is only 2 mins walking. Sunbeds with matress and shadow on the best beach in Ngapali (no rocks in the water). (Standard) Rooms perfectly clean and sufficient for us to stay 5 nights. Two times housekeeping per day. Also pool is nice and the food in the hotel restaurant is good (try mango smoothie!). Breakfast better than in most other Burmese hotels: you get eggs, toast, jam, fruits, normal bread, cornflakes, cheese and Standard Burmese breakfast. The best is the outstanding staff - they always have a smile and try to do their best to make your stay perfect. Excellent! One of our top two hotels in Myanmar (other was tai house in Hsipaw). Also snorkel trip price was good. We’ll come again for sure!

ATMs not working.”
This was not the fault of the Rivertop, but my main two problems were weak wifi and broken ATMs. I was expecting the wifi to be weak everywhere in Ngapali so that was not a surprise. But I was not expecting that there would be only two ATMs in Ngapali, and neither were working at all during the two days that I was there. No one else could withdraw money either. I wanted to stay longer, but ran out of cash, and did not know when (if ever) the machines would be fixed. No one knew.

Brilliant location, lovely staff”
Rivertop Lodge is super close to the beach, and the beach is beautiful! The room was lovely - a good size and super clean. The staff were so friendly and happy to help with airport transfers, booking taxis and organising a fabulous snorkelling trip. The pool was fine - nothing amazing, but great to have. Breakfast was ok - maybe a bit more variety and healthier options eg more fresh fruit, muesli/granola, freshly baked bread, etc would be good. All in all, an excellent stay.

Perfect place for a week!”
We stayed 5 days in Rivertop Lodge and everything was very good! Staff is very helpful, you can tell them in advance when you arrive to the airport because they can pick you up or bring you there. Breakfast was varied, mix of western and Burmese food. 2 minutes walk from the beach with long chairs and umbrellas. Paddle, snorkeling material to rent. Very nice bungalow, big and very clean. We highly recommend! Also very close from many restaurants.

Great place to stay if you don't mind being off the beach”
Staff were great, very helpful and attentive. We booked a standard double and got upgraded to superior for no extra charge because the standards were all occupied. Food was tasty, a little on the expensive side, but ngapali beach is expensive. Beach was only a minute walk away and there is a section with beach lounge chairs for guests as soon as you hit the sand. A great section of beach where you can easily swim. Rooms were very clean and the superior double is very spacious. Due to the narrow layout our big window faced the reastaurant, but we just kept our curtain closed pretty much the whole time and it didn't bother us. Bicycle and kayak rentals available but we never used them. Overall was a great place to stay.

Great location, wonderful staff!”
We stayed here for a couple of nights and really enjoyed its close proximity to the beach (it's just a short walk across the road to the beginning of Ngapali beach). Also some really great food options a 10-15 minute walk away. The towel sculptures we received every day were truly fantastic! The only issue we had with this place is the WiFi, which did not work at all. Also, some more vegan options at breakfast would have been much appreciated. All in all though, a great place to stay!!

Venue and staff outstanding”
Rivertop was ideally situated short walk from beach where they provided shaded sun beds. The sea was clear clean and safe for those who are not confident swimmers. They provided drinks on the beach provided you either ordered them before you went there and on most days sent staff to beach for happy hour order. I felt with number of guests present they could either have stocked a cool box or had staff present to call off orders. One thing I can say disappointed me was the extent of the menu, which could easily have been more comprehensive by imaginative use of ingredients already in use. That said what was served was well cooked and tasty. On the positive side the staff, from room staff through restaurant to front desk were brilliant, nothing was an effort, they were without exception ambassador for the hotel.

Very comfortable hotel and great staff, very pleasant and helpful. Across the street from a nice and pretty quiet beach. Breakfast has a pretty good choice. Overpriced for Myanmar but not for Ngapali Beach...one of the cheaper hotels. Walking/cycling distance to nearby villages.

Excellent deal across the road from the beach”
We really enjoyed our stay at Rivertop. The manager who has now left there made a huge difference to our visit as she was personable and spoke English so well. All the staff did their best and were smiles. The massage was good. The internet could have been stronger. The breakfast was quite good and they made sure to have vegan options for us which was much appreciated! They have reserved beach chairs and beach towels across the street at the beach. Every hotel is considered with preserving water and the best way to do that is to serve more plant based meals and less fish and animal products as it's better for our health and the environment. Rivertop Lodge seems to be a popular place, as the occupancy rate was higher than in other places. Friendly staff, wide enough variety for breakfast, a (smallish) swimming pool. Nice integration of the teak wood in the design of the place. Good quality room, decorations, comfortable bed.

The management & staff were exceptionally kind & helpful. It was a short stroll across the road & down the lane to get to the wonderful Ngapali Beach. Turn left on the beach & it was easy to pick up a boat for snorkeling & arrange a very good massage nearby.

Rivertop Ngapali”
Landed a bit late at Thandwe but Rivertop had sent car to meet me and they waited for me at Arrivals. Room was excellent - no complaints. Staff very friendly and helpful - lent me their pc as I did not have my own to try to book flight to Rangoon. Airline would not accept booking so staff took me to local travel agent to book flight. They had a number of books in their library which could be exchanged one for one, unfortunately there was only 3 books in English so choice was a bit limited. Small point but a small refrigerator in the room would have been nice as would tea making facility, if these were available I would score it 10/10 but will give Rivertop 9.5. Would definitely stay there again.

Pleasent vacation ”
it was perfect, the staff is very friendly and careful. They offer different meal and fruits for breakfast every day. It is a bit noisy of generators, but everywhere in Myanmar is the same. It was some problem with WiFi last 2 days of my stay, but they tried to fix the problem. They offer beach towels, that's very useful. I would choose this hotel for my next visit to Ngapali.
