A fantastic location on the beach at Waikiki”
The views from this hotel are amazing and make a holiday here in Waikiki even more special. Enjoy the cool breezes during the day, the views of the surf and memorable sunsets. 3 minutes walk to the beach across the road and close to restaurants and shopping. Try Wolfgang Puck in the basement. The best values pizza around. The only downside to the whole experience is the resort fee of USD 39 per day for 2 people. Very over priced for people who do not use the pool. Basically a charge for the use of beach towels.
Birthday Trip in Hawaii”
Love the location. Across a beach with reef safe for children. Located along restaurants and shopping stores. Transportation is not a problem, trolleys, bus stop and shuttles stop in front of the hotel. Will stay here again in the future.
Would I stay there again if I had the chance? 100% yes I got upgraded when I checked in... not to sure the circumstances behind that upgrade but it was a REAL PLEASANT surprise. My only gripe was that I couldn't stay longer as this was business trip.
Will be my go to hotel in Waikiki”
This place was awesome! Loved everything about this hotel - friendly staff, awesome location, clean rooms, and right by the beach! In addition, I really appreciated the integrity of my housekeeper - I had left quite a few valuable items in the top drawer of the dresser but didn't realize it until later in the evening. I came back the next day to retrieve my belongings and EVERYTHING was accounted for to include cash and jewelry. I will definitely stay here again!
Misleading photos vs room you get”
Booked the hotel based on the photos with sea view, and unfortunately were highly disappointed. Yes, the room had a sea view, but the quality of the room was not worth the money at all. The room smelled like mildew, and when turned on the taps brown water came out. It felt like no one had stayed there for ages. The bed didn't have a bedhead and the whole room just felt very motel like. The only good thing was our cleaning lady, after servicing our room smelt a bit better but other than that the whole experience was disappointing and would definitely not stay here again. Also quite far from the main area of waikiki with the shops and unpleasant to walk to at night.
Disappointed in 35 upcharge for hotel fee plus car park fee - would prefer to have known upfront not st Check in. We paid e tea for room with a view - had to walk out on one chair balcony to view it.
Ok Hotel - nothing special”
A pretty old hotel that got a bit of a renovation but should have been revamped completely. We booked a suite with ocean view and in the first room we got the view was partially blocked. They moved us to a better room though. US$25 'amenity charge' was a joke - either you give people something for free or you don't, but then don't make it compulsory to pay for it. That alone will make sure I will never stay there again.
Very friendly .”
I arrived at noon and asked if I could check in early and they tried to find room available. Unfortunately it was busy season and couldn't find it but they were so helpful. The breakfast was not that good but couldn't say no to charge those fees. Coffee, breakfast and security box... All included in the extra charge.
the hotel is ok”
I booked a room with king size bed but finally the staff only provide me with a double bed. She is kinda rude to be honest. I finally upgraded to a ocean front view and paid 150 extra. The hotel itself is nice but the staff who is working there is so terrible. i dont wanna see her face again. Thats how i feel when i leave
Looking forward to booking my next stay at the Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel. Best location fantastic staff and some great meals at Tikis Bar and Grill.
Was not impressed with the hotel ”
On arrival we were told that the lady serving us was not sure if our room we booked was ready and could up grade ( a third more than the original cost :( The hotel rooms are dated .. swimming pool surrounds are very slippery and a hazard, our daughter 8yrs old slipped & scored a good egg on her head . We witnessed so many children slip over . $40 a day resort fee is steep considering that it's for the pool towels , there were a few games , you could use a beach chair & borrow a Go Pro ... which we did twice even though we had one . This is by no reflection on Aston in general as we loved Aston Maui Hill & had a great stay at Aston Sunset last holiday .
Great location - expensive resort fee”
The location of the Aston is good. The price for the accomodation is reflective of the age of the hotel and the facilities. The resort fee is really expensive for the this hotel - having stayed in most of the large Waikiki hotels, this easily had the highest resort fee for an old hotel with not much facilities.
Incredible location, highly recommend the Ocean View Room. Air Conditioning system was perfect as were the amenities. Staff were quite well mannered, esp Front Desk although the gentlemen working the Valet had a bit of a chip on their shoulder. Easy Check In & Check Out process. Would definitely stay here again :)
Staff are NOT nice”
I've always stayed here before...things have definitely changed....the front desk are rude and not willing to help in any way...except for the one Japanese lady...I didn't catch her name. The elevator lobby is HOT and inside the elevator is EVEN HOTTER...needs ventilation. The rooms definitely needs upgrading especially the bathroom tiles are DIRTY
Nice but Dated”
Enjoyed our stay. Location and view were great. STAFF..... phenomenal!!!! Over the the top Friendly, Helpful, can’t say enough about them. The Hotel was in the perfect location however it is way over due for much needed upgrades to compete with other properties in the area.
A week in Honolulu”
We were a family of 7 so we used 2 suites on the 20th floor, 4 in one & 3 in the other. These suites were great value, 2 bedrooms in each & a fully furnished kitchen in one of them. This made it very easy to feed 3 teenage kids. Beautiful vues of the beach from both units & plenty of entertainment units, TVs etc. Services were great & lots of restaurants in the hotel & very close by. The hotel is across the road from the beach, but about a kilometre from the main area of Waikiki, but the walk is worth while with shops & food outlets all the way. I recommend the hotel, it's not as expensive as most of the well known ones & great value for money. The service by all is very good.
Great location but dated rooms”
The hotel itself could do with a lot of updating. The location is great and right opposite the beach but the hotel itself doesn’t have much to offer. The pool is not very inviting and there were no extra facilities. We paid extra for a room upgrade only to find the room had a tiny balcony we could barely squeeze out on to.
Location was really good but the facilities were outdated in the room. Everything was old. The hotel had games and dvds to keep people entertained and a swimming pool. Location would be by far the best thing about this hotel. Some staff were friendly but unfortunately the guy we got was not very helpful. I wanted a late check out and in the morning he didn't seem interested to help.
Be CAREFUL- Agoda does not quote the FULL cost of the room. When you arrive you’re slugged with a USD35 per night charges and taxes cost- USD 350 a night I paid for an old dilapidated hotel. The rooms look as though they have been decorated by a drunken clown. The pool is in shade most of the day (you get around 2 hours in the sun) and is outdated and the tiles are very slippery (I fell on wet tiles right next to the pool- what idiot laid ‘slippery when wet tiles’ next to a pool?). And be very careful of the associated tour company located in the foyer! Very expensive!! And I was told I could save USD170 if I went to a 2 hour “seminar”. But when staff realised I was a “lowly” single woman the seminar was suddenly not available to single woman! I’m guessing they were trying to sell condos or something similar & assumed a single woman wouldn’t be able to afford what was on offer- very demeaning & chauvinistic!! VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE COST & BEING SLUGGED EXTRA ON ARRIVAL!
Perfect location though bit pricy”
Great location, right in front of the beach and a block from zoo! Overall good hotel though bit pricey. Parking is avaliable at the zoo for lot less than hotel.
