The staff at this hotel were awesome and made us feel very comfortable.
such a good place and super worth the money.”
the hotel is newly renovated, and it is super near the penn station, so it was easy to go to New York. for sure, i will come back to this hotel when i come to New York.
Its location is its best asset. ”
The Penn Newark St by its doorstep is its biggest draw. The housekeepers and the shuttle driver(s) also deserve commendation for being so helpful and kind. Will return to this Hotel because of them. Minor downside — Most shops around the hotel and Penn Newark close at 6:00pm. (Although McDonald’s, Dunkin Donuts and the Hotel Resto/Bar downstairs have extended business hours). There are very few standalone places outside, but there’s a very good bar/grill just outside the Station.
Its location makes all the difference.”
It was very convenient as I had some business to attend to at Journal Square. It was only two stations away via PATH. The shuttle service from and to Newark International (EWR) was another plus. I would return to this Hotel for those two reasons alone.
Perfect location for train station; older property”
Great location right next to Newark Penn Station, very convenient if you have an early or late train. But, property is aging. The shuttle from the airport is useless as they only pick up from one terminal. Most passengers will need to take the Airtran to get to the shuttle, at that point you night as well take a $15 taxi or the train anyway. Too bad the hotel won't be flexible with that, even when you're the only guests who have requested pick up.
Conveniently located for Rutgers University. Customer service could use some improvement”
Pros 1. Provides complimentary airport pick up, just need to give them a call 2. Conveniently located at the Newark Penn Station with a free shuttle to Rutger University, great when you are attending class/ events at Rutgers like I was 3. Again, great location for commuting to New York since it is located right next to Newark Penn station. Can travel to New York either via PATH or by train/subway. 4. 15 - 20 minute car ride to The Mills outlet mall Cons 1. Hotel design looks old and dated 2. Had a slight unpleasant encounter with a receptionist Fre. She was slightly rude and sarcastic when I was asking her some questions. As a customer service associate, I believe one of your jobs is to assist the customer in a process and not make your customer feel stupid for not knowing. Maybe the management wants to consider sending her for some refresher courses on how to improve her customer service.
Great location - comfy beds!! A good night sleep”
May I recommend staying here if transit to or from Newark Int Airport. Location was great, right next to the Path and Metro lines into NY. The staff were courteous and the rooms clean. Beds ultra comfy as was my pillow!! The surrounding streets are rough with undesirables, but to no fault of the hotel, its the area in general. I dont recommend being out late. Would stay here again - the free airport shuttle services from Newark was easy to use!!!! Hilton, Penn Station Hotel is a great choice over the hotels by the airport!! Please google satellite the streetview. Worth stsying here
Easy Access to NYC”
We traveled with two toddlers which made it a little challenging but by our second day all was well. Good hotel because of the next door access to train station. No need to go outside when coming back late from the City especially with children. Most of the staff were very nice and friendly. The shuttle service to airport and hotel had pleasant drivers. Would definitely stay again.
The hotel and staff were superb”
The stay was great. our experience using Agoda was not so good. We reserved our room on line and payment was accepted by Agoda almost immediately, but when we tried to check in with the voucher e-mailed to us by Agoda we were told we did not have any reservations. Although the staff was great and worked out the issue, it was stress not needed when the hotel was reserved, and paid for well in advance. It took several hours to resolve this issue and I am not sure, even yet if I am going to be, or have been charged two times for the same reservation. Not impressed with Agoda and I will certainly pass that information around to my travelling friends.!
central location, very good connection to subway to NY, airport shuttle :-)
excellent hotel for NYC travel”
I was staying there with my boyfriend for travelling to NYC in the Early Oct. You all know the high price of NYC hotels would be, so I strongly recommend this for your stay if you are adults/non-luggage carrying/family pack travelers. We each got a bag only travelling from Detroit, so we didn't have huge luggage, which would be fine to climb up and down from the PATH station, which is really a 20mins trip to NYC-WTC. There were some people wondering around the bridges between the hotel and those buildings surrounded, but they did us no harm (totally neglecting) so it would be fine. Too late travelling in NYC back will cause you a trouble that the PATH train platform direct link to the hotel could be close and you have to walk a long way to the Amtrak station and walk back. But I think this overall is a great hotel with great staff, free print out service for online airtickets from the business centre, very efficient check-in and out. Last but not least, GREAT PRICE as a Hilton. To be the truth, you can't get a crap hotel in NYC with this price.
Convenient but unpleasant location”
I would stay here again as the quality and price of the room were fantastic, staff very friendly and helpful, great to be close to the airport and next to a train station but Newark Penn Station is a little shady and not for the faint of heart especially at night and if you really look like a tourist. Great if you have a layover from Newark and want to grab a bite to eat in the city but not have far to travel in the morning.
Clean Hotel with happy and friendly staff.”
Arrived late (after midnight) from long haul flight with 4 very tired teenage children. Staff were very friendly and quick to transfer us into the 2 adjoining rooms. Hotel location is wonderful being attached to the rail line that takes you directly to New York. Would recommend hotel to anyone looking for a quiet and clean hotel located close to NYC.
perfectly located for our visit to nj and nyc”
i think in this day and age charging rather steep wifi charges for each device in a room is exorbitant, especially since it tended to provide a rather slow connection in my experience on the trip. this was not explained in check in. my only criticism.
efficient & well appointed”
shuttle to/from airport leaves hotel on the hour for p2 at ewr, so picks up at ewr around 20 to 30 minutes past each hour. attaches to shopping centre containing, among other outlets, dunkin donuts, so no problem for breakfast. good service at adjoining bar/eatery but limited menu. we were there on monday evening so they had reduced prices for some "monday night football" beers.
Comfortable room and great location”
comfortable room, great beddings. location is ideal, direct route from the train station. service is great.
Spacious Room and great location”
executive room is lovely and spacious with a great couch. the downside is the lobby is at level 1 instead at the ground level. the street at the entrance is not very pleasant.
Good location, but telecom charge is high”
Location is good, guest can take train ride to New York penn station, take maybe 20 mins on the train, and waiting time, walking time maybe 15 mins, so if you destination is New York, it may take you extra 70 mins on the road everyday. Telecom charge is very expensive. not recommand for business or internet savvy traveller. The telecom charge is a hidden cost.
