Value for Hawaii”
Not expensive compared to most other hotels in hawaii. Good location. Overall good value for the money.
Excellent hotel in excellent location”
We love this hotel. People even remember us from previous visits. Although weather wasn't cooperative, the hotel is just off the beach and a marina is nearby. Good restaurants are also nearby with fine dining at the Illikai on the top floor.
Excellent hotel in downtown Honolulu”
The Illikai is where we stay when in Honolulu. Our room was large with kitchenette and very comfortable. The hotel's open-air restaurant serves great comfort food - the pancakes are outstanding but consider sharing, they are PLENTIFUL. Fine dining on the 18th floor!! And great restaurants in the area. Even the Ala Moana Shopping Center is within a pleasant walking distance (< 1 mile).
Excellent hotel in Waikiki”
Close to Waikiki Bay in center of Honolulu. Walking distance (1 mile or so) to Ala Moana mall. Outdoor café for simple fare and gourmet dining on top floor of hotel. Lots of dining choices in area. Parking is expensive but no more than most places in Honolulu. Shopping/ tour shuttle bus stops in front of hotel. We always stay here if we can't get the Hale Koa.
Older but excellent hotel on Waikiki Beach”
Excellent stay. It is our first choice when coming to Honolulu from Guam. Although it's been around (spent my honeymoon there in 1972) for a while, the rooms we have stayed in are fresh, roomy and tasteful. Tremendous location; walking distance from Ala Moana center; restaurants galore in area; beach is only a couple hundred yards behind the hotel, with shallow lagoon and nice pool. Dining at Sarento's on the 18th floor is spectacular as is the beach side view (and glass elevator). The hotel has an outdoor café also overlooking the bay. Minimal choices there but the food is good. WE never availed ourselves of their bus service (we rented a car - pricey parking as always in Honolulu) but heard others compliment it. Our room had range, refrigerator, sink, coffee pot, dishware and utensils. Good for families or longer stays. Our primary reason for always staying there is location. We will stay there again, I'm sure.
Older, excellent hotel in great Waikiki location”
1. Location- downtown Waikiki with view of Diamond Head and bay; short walk to Ala Moana Mall and other restaurants and shops in area. 2. Dining Choices- simple fare with view of beach at Cinnamon's to 5-star dining at Sarento's. 3. Room Choice- we had a room on the 25th floor with view of beach, bay and Diamond Head; it was recently renovated and had a nice little kitchen area with sink, stove, microwave, coffee pot, and full size refrigerator. I first stayed in the Ilikai Hotel in 1972. It was a great hotel then and still is in my opinion. It is older but they have begun to renovate rooms. And, as I stated earlier, it is hard to beat its location, central to everything in the Waikiki area. If standard American food is your thing, Red Lobster and Outback are a one minute walk away. In the back of that same building with a view of the marina is the Chart House Restaurant - a 4/5 star restaurant that I have been visiting off and on since 1972, which never disappoints. We have stayed at the Ilikai for our last two trips to Hawaii and will again, I'm sure.
Excellent hotel in Waikiki”
We stayed in the hotel; there are also vacation condos available. Our room was clean, spacious (larger than most) and comfortable. There are plenty of choices for dining in the immediate vicinity. Parking is expensive in Honolulu, usually about $30/day and the Ilikai Hotel is no different. However, their valet service is excellent and we never waited more than 5 minutes. If you don't have a car, access to excellent Honolulu public bus transportation is right outside the front door of the hotel. A laundromat is only three blocks away at the end of Ena Rd, where you can do your own laundry or avail yourself of their drop/wash/dry/fold/pickup service. The Ala Moana Mall is only a 15 minute walk away. Waikiki beach is just behind the hotel. We will likely stay here again.
Be careful of Ocean View Deluxe Suites”
Great hotel apart from misleading information about Deluxe Ocean View Suites. We stayed in 2534 which was supposedly an ocean view. You had to stand in the corner of the room by the tv or on the lanai to see the ocean. Should have booked a pool view room would have got the same view and saved at least $50 a night (we stayed 9 nights). Otherwise good hotel.
Bad experience at the front desk. Other than that, good stay.
Not true ocean view”
We're disappointed with our room when we arrived. We paid extra for our room with Ocean View and a bath tub. When we arrived we got a partial ocean view room, Room 2434. Our direct view is the hotel opposite and if we can see the ocean less than 35 degrees north east. I wouldn't call this ocean view. We also need a bath tub for our young travelling infant. We complained to reception, but they said we booked through agoda, we have to deal with Agoda. We would stay more central to Waikiki next time. The bus shuttle is not very flexible, only once every hour. Hertz car rental is conveniently located and as well as access to the lagoon. I want some credit back from Agoda please.
This hotel fits me right in the middle of my comfort zone. It always makes me feel like I am at home. I always stay here when I am on Oahu.
The quieter end of town, but that's the way we like it. Fantastic cleaning staff, new type spacious room on level 24 overlooking the pools and the lagoon of the Hilton next door. Family and friends also stayed and they had the more dated rooms, however, still clean, spacious and very tidy, zero complaints from a crew of 12 or more... Would stay again in a heartbeat!
Rooms are misinterpreted. I paid for an Ocean view room but I could barely see anything. It was blocked by 2 buildings- 1 on the right and 1 on the left. Service is absolutely horrendous for Hawaii standard. Ilikai is so over-rated! Despite booking for 2 nights, I left 20mins upon check in and went over to stay at Prince Waikiki. I would definitely recommend Prince Waikiki to everyone. I had an amazing 4 night stay there
Average apartment hotel”
The hotel was renovated but in an average quality. Good location, close to ocean front and public car park. Restaurant, swimming pool and other facilities are not attractive at all. Not worth to pay such expensive room rate plus additional resort charges. Can't compete with the next door hotel where my friend stay in.
Excellent hotel in downtown Honolulu”
The room is clean and spacious, and has a modern kitchen and nice view to the ocean. Very big and spacious and comfortable to stay in, daily room service is good too! All staffs are pleasant and friendly. The location is very central to beaches and shopping, so close to Waikiki Bay in center of Honolulu.
the hotel was great..the only annoying thing was that I had the hotel booked for months ahead and when we arrived our room was not ready for at least 5 hours while others got theirs straightaway and were also given automatic upgrades..
it is not valuable”
hotel guest is too much(there is a lot of rooms) but the staff is not enough to support us. we always used a lot of time to waiting at the conceirge and receiption. The swimming is very very small and the beach is too far away.
Great place to see Hilton fireworks!”
The room is clean and spacious, and has a modern kitchen and nice view to the ocean. Even though it is a little away from the Waikiki central, it wasn't a problem for us as we could have a nice walk along the beach to the town center. ABC Store and the rental car office are just across the street. Each floor has a washing machine and a dryer. Both of them require 10 quarter coins, so you'd better save the coins. If the machines are occupied, you can use ones on other floors. We had the famous pancake with guava sauce and egg benedict at Cinnamon's on the ground floor with a very nice and friendly waitress. For Japanese, I recommend you take room slippers with you. We stayed there on Friday night and had the best view to the Hilton fireworks from the lanai. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay!
Quiet & Clean (But, there's an extra charge.)”
Everything is so far so good. I like the place. Too bad, there's an extra charge (hospitality fee) per night, which hasn't been included in the Charge from Agoda at the first place. If I know about this earlier, some other hotels can be considered as cheaper.
Nice room w/ a full kitchen (with a blender!)”
Very nice suite with a full kitchen (my wife decided to make cheese cake with the oven). The blender was a nice touch, particularly given the store in the lobby sold pina colada mix. Nice espresso shop in the lobby. Pool was a bit plain, the closet was a bit small, road noise with my city view room was a bit loud (on the 24th floor), and the AC could be a bit intense, but the location was very convenient and the room was very clean.
