Wonderful, clean hotel with great staff”
The hotel was very clean. My friend and I were pleased with our stay. Room was cleaned every day and staff came right away if we needed anything. Room air/heat works well. Shower had great pressure and very hot. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to try their restaurants and cafe. I read other reviews complaining about the wallpaper, but as for me I see no problem. This is a Korean operated hotel, not Trump towers or a chain hotel. If you are expecting stone walls instead of wallpaper in the hallways, then this isn't for you. Nevertheless, I enjoyed my stay and will most definitely come back.
Room was clean but run-down. The hotel does not seem to cater to the American traveler.
I really don't mind this hotel”
It wasn't the St Regis but it shelter me and made me comfortable during my stay. Room was big and dwellings was a tad old but I am contended. Location was smack in the middle of Korea town with never ending of retail and food..... a happy stay.
Traveling for USC graduation ”
The hotel is in the middle of Koreatown. Not all of the staff we encountered spoke efficient English. There was a wide discrepancy between the size of the rooms. The closet door in my room was broken. The wallpaper was peeling all over the place in multiple rooms. There was a rust stain on the floor under the bathroom sink from water dripping. In the other room the shower dripped profusely. The most disturbing situation was the never ceasing mechanical noise that could be heard across 3 rooms, day and night. All of the furniture was chipped and worn and damaged. The free parking was an excellent benefit of staying at the hotel.nn
Good value for money”
Considerably cheaper than other LA hotels when booked in advance. I was a little worried after reading reviews about the hotel not honoring Agoda prices/bookings, but I suppose there is a risk of overbooking with all third party hotel sites. Certainly old (and "grand" in the past), but everything is still reasonably maintained. Large room. Comfortable bed. Working air-conditioning / heating. Lighting is a little dim. Have to get out of bed to turn the lights off. Good location in Koreatown, and close to public transport (purple line metro and buses). Friendly staff. Would not hesitate to stay again.
Nice basic hotel ”
My boyfriend and I were spending a casual weekend in LA and specifically looking for a hotel in Koreatown. The JJ Grand was a good choice and we enjoyed our stay there. The rates are very reasonable and the location was great. The property itself is fine and we found the room to be clean with a very comfortable bed! We would gladly recommend the JJ Grand if you’re looking for a standard hotel with friendly, accommodating service.
Front office staffs were horrible, location and the place are not too bad”
we would like to review good things first then the bad things: the location is ok, they located not too far from tourist areas, security was friendly and greet us when we arrived, they have valet parking, the room was big, a little bit old but is quite ok. Now it comes to the bad things: we only hate the front office staffs, when we ask questions or help, they will ask us back instead of helping us directly which is very annoying, they never greet us everytime we passed by (maybe they only greet koreans and that’s what we saw!) whenever we ask for help, they are not willing to help, you guys put a sign that you have right to refuse services to your customer but doesnt mean you shouldnt have any hospitality in your hotel! We love your security staffs and maintenance staffs, they are very friendly and always willing to help, your restaurant’s waiters also nice to us, and thanks to them. Oh and 1 more thing, how come your hotel make rules that only 1 small bottle of water provided in every room when you have 2 guests in each room? Maybe it only makes sense for your front office staff :)
Expect a Solid Stay!”
I stayed here over the weekend on business, and though it appears to be an older property, it's pleasant, well-maintained, and operated by an attentive, pleasant, accommodating staff. It's, of course, in LA's Koreatown--virtually surrounded by nice eateries. If you're a serious sushi lover, please, try to contain yourself; there's a spot, literally, on every corner. The room was clean and comfortable (nice bed and bathroom), though some of its mounted artwork could use some serious updating -- but please don't let this minor thing deter you from experiencing the JJ Grand. It's worth it. I would do it again. In fact, I'd even look forward to it!
I got the king room and it was just as the other reviews said. It was dated and the wall paper was peeling. The curtains were dirty. The a/c was noisy and sounded like it would give up any minute. However, the room was clean and very spacious. I had a fantastic view from my window. The bed was sooooo comfortable i never wanted to get out. It was in a great location close to a metro station. Would totally recommend if you're looking for somewhere cheap and comfortable. I totally enjoyed my time here!
Stay was ok but the amenities was not sufficient ”
We booked for 2 adults n teen staying with us. But the amenities provided was not sufficient. Eg towel only two n mineral water was only one. We stayed there for 4 days. When asked to clean the room the rubbish was not disposed. Other than the above it was a pleasant stay.
There are better hotels and Airbnb in the area”
Valet was rude and manager didn’t care. I don’t carry cash on me and website says parking is free. If you don’t tip the valet some of them are rude to you. Room was ok but it could really use some renovation. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel for the price it’s at now $135-$150 a night.
It could use some TLC everywhere. I'm sure it was amazing in the '80's when it was built. PLEASE at least replace the straight shower curtain rods with the curved ones--I have not been in a motel/hotel in 10 years that'd didn't have this great invention. For the money it is adequate, and free parking is great!!
Perfect for what we needed”
A group of 4 of us went to do kbbq and hit the bars down there. This was a nice location that had 2 queen beds and made for a comfortable stay. No issues with the place, could the rooms have been nicer? Of course. But it was what we expected and served our needs and for a good price. Would stay here again.
We almost always get the best value for our money.
Almost every time we have to fly out to LA, we used this hotel for they have great sservice.
The hotel management is very accommodating of our requests. Thank you!
Good but ”
Generally good but Internet (connection and speed) is the main problem.
Excellent value ”
Friendly staff, clean, comfortable and safe
Very loud, raucous guests in the corridor outside room”
Guess that's what happens when you get a deal and find out others might have had the same idea also.
A great option in Korea Town”
If you looking for a good clean place close to Korea town then this is the spot. Good size rooms, good, but not fabulous, more of a good price in a great central location of Los Angeles, CA.
