Bit dated and has needed a refurb for years but if you can get a deal like we did at £74 it is good value .love the fact you can park here - have space - nice pool- lovely staff. Don’t bother with food here - have much better restaurants nearby for breakfast and dinner like Tapas on the marina and Vintner etc. Also dog friendly
Spacious well appointed rooms, ideally located for visiting Stratford. On checking, in we were advised to avoid taking breakfast between 9:30 and 10:30 on the Sunday morning as the hotel was full. We entered the dining room at 8:50 and as we were seated ordered tea, coffee and mixed toast. At this time there were only 3 or 4 other tables occupied in the room we were in. Some 25 minutes later we eventually got our tea and coffee after chasing it with the staff on 5 occasions! In the meantime we had fruit juice, cereal and my wife's poached eggs arrived which she had wanted the toast to go with! We were not the only diners that were experiencing this problem and the staff just used the excuse that they were too busy. Sorry, no excuse, the breakfast is a buffet service, so all the waitering staff have to do is seat you and bring tea, coffee and toast. When we left there was a lengthy queue in the corridor of guests waiting to be seated! For a hotel of this standard this is not good enough
Second stay & not disappointed!”
Second stay here & not disappointed. Staff friendly, room exactly as expected, clean & welcoming. Location perfect for a nice, relaxed stroll into Stratford. Only downside was the £5 parking charge which was not pointed out on booking.
At a cost of £75 for a Classic King room for two including breakfast for the night with pool / sauna / steam and spa facilities, this was good overall value. It’s just a short 5 minute walk into the Town. The breakfast was ok nothing special, standard hotel cooked breakfast kept warm for self service.. Hotel is very big in that there are a lot of rooms so if your room is near the pool, it’s better to park and unload around the back of the hotel. The bar area is quite small and was overrun by a function on Saturday that occupied most the area so other guests had a long wait to get a drink or food.. I’m also not sure parking costs were mentioned at the time of booking but a £5 charge is made for this for an overnight stay. Had to wait 5 minutes for a member of staff to check us into breakfast while other staff saw us but kept on with their other jobs. Understaffed on Saturday given the umbers attending the function. Room was ok, a little tired in places but seemed clean.
The staff were all completely wonderful.- cheerful, willing and very professional. They made our stay very comfortable.
Staff - unhelpful and stroppy”
From the moment we checked in we had issues. Receptionist very bolshy offering no solutions, manager needed to step in to assist. Bar staff busy with Xmas party, which in turn meant poor customer service, similar at breakfast. Staff gave excuses for poor service, rather than apologising and resolving.
Not worth over £200 per night for standard room”
Booked a surprise visit as me mum and sister were staying at the hotel ,and it was our wedding anniversary so booked a standard room that cost over 200 per night , on arriving the reception was very busy but staff were really nice arrived early so left our bags in our mums room room 104 her room was small and had twin beds the pelmet was hanging off the rail and the chair was threadbear you could see the stuffing I was shocked as men mum is 75 and the room was very poor standard however she was staying there for three night and paid 340 so was bit more value for money ,however tatty it was. When given my room room 115 I went to put the champagne in the fridge that I had bought for our anniversary as the room described that it had fridge etc No fridge just empty hole where it was meant to be I tried phoning the reclion but after waiting 30 mins they did not answers the phone so I went to get another room on,y none of thee rooms had fridges and were tatty like me mums in the end .
Brilliant location, helpful friendly staff, clean room.”
Staff were really helpful when the booking agent had booked one kind of room and told me that they had booked another. Hotel clean, welcoming, breakfast good, very good location for the centre of Stratford without being at all noisy.
Great location and breakfast”
The breakfast did not have a vast selection of items, but all were high quality, well cooked and hot. Probably the best hotel breakfast I have ever had!
Great Location and Comfortable Hotel”
I Love this hotel very much! Its really Big n near the towncity.
Lovely historic hotel”
Very well kept hotel - we were lucky to stay in one of the rooms in the old part of the hotel. Very convenient location - you can walk to the town centre, which saves on having to take the car to the city. Breakfast is buffet style - staff at breakfast were very friendly.
Our reason for visiting Stratford was to see "Antony and Cleopatra" at the RSC. We chose to stay at The Alveston Manor having seen it on a previous visit to the town. We were delighted from the moment we stepped through the door to check in, until the time came to check out. We loved the "Olde Worlde"charm and character. We made full use of the full size swimming pool and spa, (a lovely way to relax) Breakfast was varied and plenty of choice and the bar was a great place to enjoy an afternoon tea.. Will definitely return.
A few of us stayed here for a family wedding in Stratford. From the outside the building is beautiful, you walk in and reception and everything is really nice. Then we were shown to our rooms which just appeared to be a great big extension on the side/back of building with no thought and no attention to detail. The rooms themselves were OK but no more than that. They were clean and tidy but nothing special. Also, the breakfast is a complete and utter rip-off. It cost us £18.50 each for a full English buffet style breakfast which quite frankly was rubbish; it was cheap, dry, luke warm and tasted a little bit like school dinners! The options for the continental style were useless as well - a bit of manky ham and cheese. If you do book here and you've got the option of adding breakfast for a couple of quid then do it - otherwise plan on eating somewhere else in the mornings as the price is simply not justified. Having said that the bar area is really nice and the staff were really attentive. We did keep them up quite late the one night when everyone else had left and they were great about it. Also, the location is great. It's just a 2 minute walk into Stratford centre so you can't really get much closer than that. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves but I don't know if I would pay the same amount of money to stay here again as I just don't think it's justified (sorry).
Good hotel, handy for the town centre”
My daughter and I stayed here for a couple of nights in July. The hotel is in a fab position, just a 5 minute walk from the town centre and the RSC, but in a very quiet location. It was clean, tidy and well maintained. Some of the staff need a bit of customer service training - the chambermaids are surly, and just grunted when I said hello to them, a particular receptionist (Andrea) was very unhelpful, particularly when my daughter asked for more decaf coffee - she gave her Tassimo pods - there is no Tassimo machine in the room!! The beds were comfy, the bathroom clean and there was sufficient tea, coffee and sugar for 2, but a couple more of each would have been nice. Nice biscuits!! We were room only, an dbreakfast was going to be £19.50 EACH, so we didn't bother and went out to get breakfast - there are loads of places nearby that are fine.
Disappointing Stay at the Alveston Manor”
On arrival at check in, we were not allocated the room upgrade I had paid for, so we had to return and change our room. We ordered 2 items on room service which never arrived. We booked a specific table in the restaurant for dinner on my wife's birthday only to arrive to find someone else sitting there. The staff attempted to rectify the matter and only made it worse. At this point we complained to the management and some money was taken off our final invoice. We would not return or recommend this hotel.
Excellent rural setting in the midst of it......”
.By the look of it on the website... Yes! But the manor even exceeded my far reaching expectations. Marvellous setting and just a few minutes walk over bridge to most must-sees. Nice, silent and well equipped room, facing garden, provided good sleep. Super breakfast was good start for a whole day walking around in Shakespeare land!
The most beautiful room!”
We had a wonderful time here, I feel our room could have been the best in the place. Definitely paying a bit more for a better room. Heard a few people complaining about their rooms, but we were over the moon. One member of staff at the front desk wasn't exactly super helpful when I wanted to understand why we needed charging again (Agoda said they had charged us when actually they hadn't), but overall a great stay. So close to the centre too.
Staff were very helpful & courteous. Lovely clean room & leisure facilities .
We only stayed for one night. It may seem trivial but our stay was marred by not being served Stornoway black pudding as specified in the breakfast menu. My wife and I know what it should look and taste like and would have regarded the real thing as a treat. What was served was not even a close attempt. We ate what was served but pointed out to our server that it was not right. He did not feed back to us and it was only by a chance meeting in the corridor that he confirmed our comment.
