Great hotel apart from one bar staff who seemed to be having a bad night and took it out on us. We were ignored twice which I thought was bad for a hotel of this calibre. The young lady in the coffee shop though was more than helpful and was a real pleasure.
We had a wonderful time! Very close to Beale Street . We also walked to the Civil Rights Museum. It is a must see. We did happy hour at the Corner Bar and it was very cozy. We had complimentary coffee each morning at the deli. The Lobby was unbelievably beautiful. It was like walking back in time. The staff was very friendly. Great time!
This hotel is amazing. ”
I was actually celebrating my wife's birthday and the staff did the extra to make it special for her. The took Rose's and cheese cake to the room, updated my room for a special discounted rate. I am impressed with the experience we had as a first timer. Definitely will be our stay when traveling through the area.
The Downtown Memphis Hotel”
Having lived in Memphis for 5 years, I never got the chance to stay at the Peabody until I was visiting a few weeks ago. The hotel lobby is very fancy, and has a classic “high cotton” charm. The room was very clean and beds were comfortable. The bathrooms are very small but have excellent details. If you are visiting Memphis, this is the hotel to stay in to be able to experience all that Downtown has to offer!
The hotel is stylish. I loved the atmosphere.
Great Hotel but Problems Checking In”
While the hotel itself was beautiful, our family had a few problems during our stay. We arrived at around 4pm (the duck march was at 5, so this may have been part of the problem) and the lobby was crowded with tourists and other patrons of the hotel. After waiting awhile in line, we were told that our room was not ready. We then had to wait for over an hour for our room to be cleaned, which would have been fine except that there was no place to sit, nor a good spot to even see the famous duck march. We eventually did get to our room however, and while it was beautiful, the rooms, bathroom and beds were very small. The staff we talked to were very apologetic and the hotel was beautiful, but when you pay for such a nice hotel you expect a bit more.
Nice hotel but loud”
Nice historic hotel in the heart of downtown Memphis. Bathrooms are extremely small and rooms are loud due to traffic.
Peabody was very nice. The Superior Double have very comfortable beds. Bathroom was updated but a little small. No coffee makers in the rooms. Great location to see downtown Memphis and Beale St.
Good hotel in downtown Memphis”
Lovely traditional hotel in the heart of downtown. Friendly and helpful staff. Room was of a good standard. Self-service buffet breakfast was adequate but need to offer a wider selection of foods. Duck marches were fun and attracted large crowds every day. Nice selection of shops located within the hotel.
Classic 1920s hotel with loads of history and charm. Brilliant location so close to Beale Street .”
Location near all the various music museums and the nightlife of Beale Street. Don’t take a cab to Graceland. Walk just down the road to the Museum of Rockn’Soul (great value) and take the free hourly shuttle bus.! One of the best kept Memphis secrets! Enjoy.
Iconic hotel. The duck parade is amazing. We got a good price for the room but perhaps this was known at check in and we were put in a very noisy room next to the elevator. We mentioned this the following morning and we were upgraded to a much quieter room which we appreciated.
My daughter and I were driving from SC to Las Vegas and stayed in Memphis at the Peabody. It was a wonderful experience and the hotel was amazing. The staff were all so very friendly and helpful. The hotel is beautiful and I can’t wait to go again!!
Wonderful experience. ”
Beautiful hotel with unbelievable history. If it is not in your budget look for specials on rooms. They are there. I found one that cut the price by about a third. If you can afford it it is well worth the money. Wonderful staff and the Peabody Ducks are not to be missed.
A beautiful historical hotel, we all loved our stay here and were very well looked after. We arrived very early on the overnight train from Chicago and were checked into our room by 11am, which was most welcome. The room was lovely and the beds very comfortable. The hotel is very central to everything, which made it very easy to explore Memphis. Also loved the ducks! A very special hotel.
Loved the ducks! I wish an explanation would have been given of things like coffee, desserts, seeing the ducks after 5, even the pool. We had no idea about anything until we stumbled on it or read it. Even getting directed to the coffee required asking two different people to get to its location. At check in, it was so loud that it was difficult to hear the attendant. The hotel was fabulous. The location is ideal. At the Duck Master does a great job-and shows the best hospitality in holding our elevator door specifically. Enjoyed our stay! I hope to return.
We enjoyed our stay at the Peabody in Memphis. It is located close to everything we wanted to see. We took the trolley or walked. The ducks were a hit with my 7 and 3 year old. They also enjoyed all the duck paraphernalia with the ducks in the elevator, the duck soap and on the towels. The rooms were quiet and beds comfortable. They serve free coffee and hot coco in the deli every morning, which was also nice. There is an indoor pool too. The staff was all very friendly. I’d stay there again.
Stayed there one. ugh twitch my teenage granddaughter and out of all the things we did in Memphis she liked this hotel the best. We Lilly bed seeing the ducks and listening to the piano player. It’s close the Beale street. I would say the only negative is the parking price.
A great hotel and in a wonderful location with everything walking distance. It felt very special staying here. The staff were excellent and we enjoyed the complimentary teas and coffees in the morning. My only disappointment was with our bathroom. The bedroom was a good size but the bathroom was disproportionately small. In order to turn off the shower (but wanted to avoid soaking my hair), I had to step out of the bath, squeeze between the sink and tub and turn off the water. It sound petty but the bathroom was a let down.
Everyone so pleasant and attentive....gracious I would say!! Only one issue in the Italian restaurant. This is difficult to complain as my entire family is in hospitality and food service. Our waiter, Bobby, was a very poor waiter. Totally distracted visiting with friends and not paying attention to his tables. The sweet hostess tried helping him! Just a few examples....ran out of water twice, entree and appetizer came at the same time, set check/booklet on table while talking to us and then realized we hadn't even eaten.... So sorry to do this, but as you know he should have more respect for his job and your fine hotel!
The Way It Should Be”
This is the kind of hotel stay you always hope for. Sure, you pay a little more, but you certainly get what you pay for. The staff is friendly and courteous. The facilities are super. The rooms are large and well maintained. The ducks, charming. When we come back to Memphis, we look forward to staying here again.
