Great hotel”

It was a fantastic stay at a great hotel in an amazing location. We had a suite, which was extremely spacious and comfortable (and at a reasonable price). The staff were flawlessly helpful and friendly. The only thing is, there are only two restaurants (one Chinese, one Western), and the Western one was only a buffet when we were there, and the offerings could have been better (they were somewhat limited and a bit bland). But other than that, everything was great.

Relaxing holiday at Silks Place Taroko”

Beautiful scenery, very nice hotel with a lot of activities and nice weather. The only worry is the risk of typhoon which might cause road closure. If there is road closure, either not possible to get into or get out of the hotel to proceed the journey as planned.

Dated hotel, definitely not 5 stars, nice rooftop pool and location ”

The beds are like rocks, the hotel is showing it’s age everywhere with stained carpets and chipped walls. The only good part about this place is it’s location and rooftop pool area. Just be aware this is not equivalent to 5 star hotels and service elsewhere.

A quiet , perfect retreat away from it all”

The gorge beside it and the National Park Silk Place is situated in makes this hotel a perfect getaway. It was a very pleasant 2.5 hr journey from Taipei by train and the hotel shuttle bus driver met us at Hualien train station. The bus ride to Silk place was also a pleasant 1 hr ride through the National Park. Dinner was available at a reasonable price at both the Chinese and western restaurant. Buffet breakfast was also just as delicious. There are a few trails near the hotel, Long ones and shorter ones. We took a half day tour from Silk Place and enjoyed it. The outdoor swimming pool on the roof terrace is set in a most beautiful setting with the hills around and the gorge coursing down below.

Luxury in the wilderness”

Silks Place offers some truly luxurious rooms, like the Garden Suite we booked, which had possibly the hugest bathroom I've ever seen, a large balcony and a huge amount of space to sprawl. Staff were courteous and kind, and I love the fact that they allow you to use the facilities (including rooftop pool, hot tubs and changing facilities / showers) up until 3pm the day you depart, even after checkout, which is great if you want to do a few hikes then swim and shower before hitting the road. For the most part the look and feel of the resort is lovely, with a zen-like minimalism prevailing (eg the lobby, which is gorgeous) but in places it feels a bit spartan, like the corridors to the rooms which desperately needed some art or a few design details to give it a bit of personality. We enjoyed a pleasant dinner in the Chinese restaurant, though felt a bit rushed to order and eat quickly due to closing early. But breakfast (which we took in the lounge) was stellar, with lovely service.

The best choice to visit Taroko park ”

It is located in the center of Taroko, exactly what we expected to enjoy the incredible gorge .Great and friendly service with the fine breakfast. In addition to the outdoor speactlar swimming pool, it offers different tours to join or just simply walking up to Buiyoung trails within 20mins. We had a fantastic time to stay, would definitely love to come back.

Excellent Facilities!”

The kids enjoyed the recreation room very much! The facilities are amazing! Views are worth the cost of the rooms (which is on the pricey side). Staff is very well-trained in such a way that they value the rules and regulations more than accommodating the guests.

Beautiful Taroko Gorge location”

Being a resort hotel, it has many activities in addition to a great rooftop pool, hot tubs and a tennis court. I saw there were activities for kids and a spa for the adults. In the evening there was an aboriginal performance and a movie. My room was a good size with a nice view of the river. Like most Taiwan hotels there are different room sizes. When you book just specify what you want. The mini-fridge had a couple of free items in it including a facial mask and there were some snacks. Nice little details. The room is somewhat dated, but still shows nice. I had wished the bathroom would have contained some marble from the area, but instead had a pinkish color tile. I arrived early and my room was not ready so they took my bag. It would have been nice to wait in a lounge and have a drink, but I did not find one. So I got my Taiwan beer at the stall across the parking lot then climbed to the Tianfeng pagoda and found some other trails (uphill). I left reception my email and they emailed me when my room was ready. I purchased the “Western” dinner package which was a very abundant buffet consisting of many stations which I thought was reasonable for NT$880 including service fee. There is a Chinese dinner available which looks to be off a menu. Breakfast was also a buffet with many stations. How to get there? If you don’t have a car, there are many other ways to get there. The Hotel has a shuttle (fee) from Hualien. Call first to make reservations. I took a train down from Yilan to the Xincheng station and then a local bus to Tianxiang. The Taiwan Tourist shuttle bus also goes to Tianxiang from the Xincheng station.

Best choice in Taroko for kids!”

We enjoyed our stay here so much. The service is top notch and the facilities available was awesome! If you are bringing kids, the hotel has you covered! Cribs, bath tub, toothbrush (with welcome balloons), bath robe and slippers for the little ones. We also needed more water so they gave us more bottled waters. Bath salt next to your bath tub, welcome treats, and facial masks (good quality) for the adults. The rooftop pool has a magnificent view! We went at night time and daytime, both provide very different sceneries. Hot tubs are also available on the roof. Kids could also have a blast in the Kids Club in B1 where there are so many things to keep your rugrats occupied! The location is nice because we were able to do all the sightseeing during the day on our way to the hotel, check in, then squeeze in more afterwards. After check out the next day, we did more sightseeing on our way out of the Taroko Park.

Great view”

The hotel is ideally located at the "top" of the Taroko valley. The western part of the park is pretty much closed these days, so everything of interest is between the hotel and Taroko National Center. The hotel is quite nice, but the rooms start to show some age. We had a gorge view, and it is indeed really great view to wake up to. The hotel has 2 restaurants: a-la-carte Chinese, or western buffet. We tried once the buffet and it was pretty disappointing. We thought the Chinese was much better.

Great view”

We have a great time at silk place taroko. Great view at the roof top with hot jacuzzi. They also have big indoor swimming pool. There was a half day and full day tour at the hotel which is not expensive. We took half day tour which cost about 450 taiwan dollars each. The trip is good for those who has limited times.

Great hotel in a dream location”

Wonderful experience. Love the evening activity. The room is spacious and well equip. The surrounding is out of this world, right in the middle of the gorge. Hotel food however is just average. Room rate is quite pricey considering the average price of a good accommodation there

Beautiful location, a lovely place to visit”

We enjoyed our stay at the Silks Place very much. The Western buffet was very good (desserts were particularly good), the Chinese buffet had some interesting dishes for a western palate but was good overall. Breakfast was also good although the tureens were left open so the food soon got cold. Generally the hotel is lovely but a little 'tired' in decor in some areas, possibly a 4* rather than a 5*. Having said that I would recommend a stay in this beautiful gorge as the scenery is fantastic. The half day tour we took was great with English speaking guide. Yes, we would stay here again.

5 star hotel in the mountains with great location and great view. Local dancing at night time in open air around the fire. Clean rooms and clean hotel. Excellent service. Delicious breakfast and dinner.

The gorge view outside the room was excellent. The swimming pool at the rooftop was surrounded by the mountainsI. The food at the breakfast and dinner was great! I enjoyed very much and would come again.

2 night stay at the Retreat.”

This was the last stop of a 7 day tour round Taiwan before returning to Taipei. And this was also the best way to finish. Excellent 2 night stay at the Retreat, away from the hustle and bustle of business. Relaxation in an beautiful location. Came away with a BIG smile.

Very Good !”

Stayed in a 4 pax room in Silks Place in Dec'14. The room is spacious and beautiful. The hotel offers tours for a minimal fee which is good for families who do not drive. We took up the hotel package which includes dining with Agoda. We especially recommend the chinese fine dining which is value for money.

not quite 5 star, but great”

Good but hotel looks a bit Worn. Was there for New Year's Eve and there were interesting performances organised for the guest. Some tiny five star details were lacking, no champagne (for sale), room balcony was very dirty, dining area ( Chinese restaurant ） lacked finesse and presentation can be improved. Overall, more can be done to make it posh and classy. I would however choose to stay again if I was around the region as I believe it is still the best in the region.

Wonderful national park get-away”

The hotel is in an ideal location if you would like to explore Taroko National Park. The nightly aboriginal singing was also very enjoyable. Food was of a good quality and overall, the hotel caters to a wide-age group. We had a wonderful time
