Amazing stay”

The view and the hotel premises was stunning. Room was clean and beautifully decorated. We had one night stay and took all 3 meals. Food was delicious especially the desserts. Don’t forget to try their “watalappan”. The best I have ever had in my life time.. Only minus point was poor drainage system in the bathroom floor. The water was stagnated on the floor and it was inconvenient. Overall highly satisfied.

Positives : Location excellent as on the beach, excellent gardens and lawns, pool very good, good gym with friendly staff in the gym. Negatives: Many problems with the room - plumbing issues with taps squirting out water/air at times and toilet not flushing, safe not working then replaced with an unbolted safe, TV reception on and off, room key holder broken, dirt stains bathroom sink area. I also found the Sri Lankan dishes not of an authentic high calibre, certainly expect better from " 5 Star " hotel. Will not pay to stay here again

Surpassed Expectations”

This hotel was chosen solely to attend my friend's wedding and having been there multiple times for wedding receptions i particularly never thought of a overnight stay. However when i did ultimately stay, from Starting point from the Doorman to front office to the Restaurant and Housekeeping each and every staff member was extremely helpful, from carrying your sholderbag to serving your plate at restaurant since i was carrung my newborn, it was the amazing support without having to ask that they offer makes this hotel the best. I have stayed in best hotels in SRi Lanka but this was one of my greatest experience, They turned my doubts of staying with newborn being a tough one to a total memorable exp. Mr. Duminda a manager or senior from Front Office, goes out of the way to ensure my baby and i are safely attending the wedding and when departing drops you to the car. I had never imagined this star class service really. Couldn't have Recommended this hotel more. !!!

Lovely hotel lovely staff”

The hotel was set out in beautifully manicured grounds. It had a very friendly atmosphere from the time of arriving to the time we left. The facilities were extensive and the food delicious. We would be happy to recommend this to others.

Food was disappointing ”

Usually locals go to Blue waters because the food is excellent. And thats why i came back for my 3rd time. But unfortunately this time the food was so bland and tasteless. Maybe its because there were so many people but still thats when the hotel needs to properly deliver. Disappointed. Dont know whether it was a one time thing. Hoping it is.

lovelly hotel throughout”

The hotel is exceptionally clean staff all happy polite and attentive included the garden staff and room cleaners. food was presented well served hot and wide choice . rooms were really nice modern furnished well and generraly the whole hotel is a nice place to spend time very comfortable . i have stayed in many hotel's globally good and bad and blue water certainly stands out amongst the very best moreover i am not in the habbit of writing reviews however on this occasion i have made the effort hopefully other guests may benifit . would certainly recommend to any one visiting sri lanka . thankyou blue water for a nice few days spend on our travels. Perfect location, customer service for SL origins not so great!”

Overall a fabulous location. We stayed with family for a week at the resort. Location is perfect with great sea view. Great gym and open pools. As location is amazing the staff sadly don’t really try hard in terms of customer services. Food was good mainly catered for tourists and not much of a variety in authentic Sri Lankan food. The working staff were always very friendly and helpful but senior female staff were difficult and not so friendly eg refusing to swop lunch buffet vouchers for dinner buffet vouchers, presuming those of Sri Lankan origin living abroad couldn’t possibly afford to stay at the resort. Uber unavailable at location sadly hotels transportation is a significantly overpriced. Find another car company to arrange travels to Colombo or airport and make at least two thirds of a saving. Overall a great experience, Sri Lanka is beautiful!!!

Four star hotel serving one star food.”

Nice hotel, nice rooms and nice location, so it's a real disappointment that food was poor. The range of dishes on offer was ok but most dishes were warm at best and cold at worst. Hot food should be just that, hot! All three adults in the group also agreed that the dishes were too salty and in a couple of instances undercooked.

Excepțional”

Combination of variety of food at each meal time was great. Food was fresh and tasty it really worth for money you spend for food at HBW. Staff was friendly and take extra mileage for satisfying customers.

Great hotel but don't use your desk for transportation ”

Though I arrived in the midnight, I could see beauty of the hotel. And it was more than expected. I love both exterior and room, clean, beautiful and well designed. Everything was fantastic except the tourdesk. I asked the one way taxi to Bentota, it was about double price of fare from the airport to this hotel, though distance is half. In addition, they rise price when I make payment... awful. So just enjoy the hotel life but stay away from your desk! Then you will enjoy it :)

Restful overnight hotel”

Blue water is a hotel right on the beach front just a small distance from Colombio. Has all the enmities of a big hotel - goof gym, nice pool and spa. There's not a huge amount to do in the area unless u like to loll under palm trees but breaks up distance to cities further south.

Room left open by cleaner overshadowed trip”

Unfortunately the good points regarding this hotel were overshadowed by our room door being left open, perhaps by cleaner, when we reported we didn't even get an apology, then on checkout were charged Mini bar costs we did not use, happened to be from same date that door was left open. after 10 mins the overcharge was waived but still no apology. Other features of hotel ok but room costs very inflated for Christmas did not feel value for money, our next hotel has been much better.

Excellent”

Stayed over 3 nights in a club suite and it was classy from the moment you enter through the door. Beautiful and clean room with magnificent views. Excellent service, stuff and food. Great facilities, lot to do and see. Something to experience, specially if you are a couple.

We stayed in a club suite for 3 nights and it was lovely. Spacious room with personal balcony, living area and 4 poster bed, bathroom with separate shower, jacuzzi bath and sink area. Hotel facilities were top notch, great swimming pool set in lovely grounds, private beach area and a variety of places to eat and drink. Hotel staff were polite, courteous and helpful. Had a great time, would definitely recommend.

Location (not far from Colombo), food (words cannot express how good it was), relaxing (vast area, hence very relaxing), pool (big pool, so it doesn't feel crowded), clean and beautiful rooms, staff ( first class staff with great smiles at all times)!

Another perfect visit!”

This visit is the sixth time we have stayed at the Blue Water Hotel, and we love it! The rooms are stunning (we were upgraded from a standard room to a deluxe free of charge!), the grounds are exceptional and well maintained, and the pools are delightful and soothing. Every room has a stunning view of the ocean and the hotel grounds, especially when the elephants arrive on the beach and the birds return at sunset. We enjoyed using the gym and the squash court, and the staff is always friendly and cheerful. The food was excellent, especially the Sri Lankan menu, and anything at the Nautilus restaurant. The Blue Water Hotel is the perfect place to get away from the world and enjoy a peaceful and serene environment. The architecture is amazing, providing a calm and relaxing atmosphere carefully integrated into the sweeping landscape. This building is one of Geoffrey Bawa's masterpieces and should be experienced in person. We have enjoyed our past visits and look forward to returning in the future.

Geofry Bawa's design of the hotel is brilliant. So simple yet so elegent. Plumbing and wifi need improvement but adequatly compensated with wide spaces, staff and food.”

Our family of 8 enjoyed the 3 day stay, dinning, swimming games and dancing in the evening to the music of the local bands. Blue Waters created the ideal setting for the family get together coming from different parts of the world.

Paradise in paradise!”

This is our third year visiting the Blue Water hotel and, as always, we were delighted once again! The location is subtly stunning; it is quiet, secluded, and well maintained. The architecture of the building is a sight to behold, an exercise in tropical modernism for those inclined to notice such things. In the evenings, flocks of parrots return to roost in the hotel's palm trees, and their entrance is nothing short of dramatic! Occasionally, an elephant will stroll down the beach. We tried the spa as well (not my personal favourite thing in the world), but I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the interior space. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and the food is always good, especially the Sri Lankan specialities. A helpful hint: try ordering from the Sri Lankan menu instead of the buffet. The food is delicious (but a bit on the hot side) and a great value. In short, if you are looking for a quiet and beautiful place in which to escape, look no further! The Blue Water's appeal is not on its flash or grandeur (an increasing problem with hotels these days) but in its quiet elegance, relaxing atmosphere, and competent staff. There is a reason we keep coming back; come find out for yourself!

Travelled with my daughter for her friend's wedding which was held at Blue Water. Accommodation was excellent, we had a super spacious room, grounds and hotel are lovely, particularly at night, staff were exceptional. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
