The man at the reception of the hotel was wonderfully friendly and helpful. The cleanliness was fine for us as a family but some people might have been disappointed with the food and waste in the pool area.
Great location, beautiful views over Windermere”
Staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are large, the beds are very comfy and I even like the pillows which I don't usually! Breakfast set you up well for a day of walking. We used the swimming pool twice and both times had the place to ourselves. Sun shone the whole week we were there which was an unexpected bonus.
ONE night stay”
stayed in this hotel for one night.First impression very good, grand building and lovely grounds. inside needs work spent on it .Staff very pleasant. We stayed D.B.B Quality of food was poor. would not come back to this hotel again.
More like a retirement home ,!!!”
This can not be classed as a hotel, was very dated, worn out carpets, stained walls and light shades, bed very uncomfortable, toilet was dirty, absolutely nothing like the pictures, would never stay here again, staff we met were scruffy with stained clothing, did not have breakfast or use the pool, as were worried about the health implications
Very nice stay lovely building and grounds staff very nice and attentive made to feel very welcome. Really enjoyed our stay. 3 stars for cleanliness as you could tell dog had previously been in our room wet dog smell and dog hairs don’t own a dog myself so that’s my personal opinion on the matter.
Wow, we loved our stay there, beautifull place, big and clean room with a balcony. Very nice staff too. Recommend this place!!
Enjoyed our stay, staff pleasant and very helpful, excellent breakfast, wifi signal not the best, great value overall.
We booked a club room and out of sudden we found our self in a standerd room and according to the staff , the difference was only water and a towel , i was shocked when they gave me the water and they said now its club room . The staff were very kind and helpful
Good but could be great!”
We booked this hotel specifically because it had a swimming pool, it was a lovely pool but when we checked in we were told there was swimming lessons between 5 and 8 and the pool was closed to guests. Not ideal but when we went in at 4 there were swimming lessons taking place. There were 5 hotel guests in for a swim and it was impossible. It’s not a big pool and a third was laned of for the lessons and other children were in our swimming area waiting for there lessons. The sauna was also out of order! However we had a lovely swim the next day at 7.30am when we had the pool to ourselves. Our room was lovely, breakfast was excellent. Evening meal maybe not so great value for money, not enough choice and was a surcharge if you wanted food from the bar menu in the dining room! We stayed in the bar! Loved that the hotel was very dog friendly and the dogs were allowed to sit behind the reception being looked after while there owners enjoyed their meals. Would definitely return!
The receptionist was not good, he asked for more money for providing additional blanket and bed sheet
Please do not bring heavy baggage to Lake District if you're staying here”
Windermere Manor Hotel was at a really lovely location which oversees a small part of the lake with a good sunrise view. However, food served weren't great, and counter staff (female) was pretty nasty. She didn't allow my friend and i to leave our baggage there when we arrived only an hour before check in time. She wasn't quite pleased about us sitting in the lobby area/eating chips/standing around. Basically hated us for no reason. It was cold and we had a long walk with our bags from the train terminal therefore we had no choice but to stick around. But we had a good stay when the lobby staff changed and helped us when needed.
Ng from Malaysia”
It was like an old folks home.90% of the occupants are senior. Worst is the dogs stayed in the rooms as well. And also on the morning of departure, there were a few people checking out requiring taxis to train station. The male receptionist said its very difficult to get a taxi . Needs at least half an hour. And we were worried tht we wont be able to catch the train in time. So we tried to call ourselves n the taxi came in like 5 mins. So i told the male reception tht i dont want the taxi tht he had booked for me barely 10mins ago. He refused n told us to pay the full fare even though taxi not here yet. He was persistent tht we pay him 30 pounds. Because we were rushing for time n to avoid further argument we paid him 30 pounds.
5 Star Leasure Luxury Hotel”
Excellent. It is a big 5 star luxury hotel. Stay 1 night is not enough. Will come back again to stay longer period. However location I difficult to find. Hotel signage should place on both side as I. Drove on the other side so miss the hotel entrance. Telephone number should also provided as I search myself though the internet.
It is very good, if you have a car”
Everything are good except the location. But I rent a car, it is still easy to get there from train station.
Beacon in the darkness”
A real find. Accessibility is well thought out and works extremely well. As a professional Dísability advisor, I had no idea that the hotel my wife had booked us last minute was a Vision Hotel until we arrived. I was impressed all round - a great location, very easy access for sensory and physically disabled guests - ramps, a lift, roll in wet rooms in some rooms and tactile flooring, are some of the physical provisions, and excellently trained and helpful staff are some of the more thoughtfully planned offerings. The hotel is full of assistive technology - from big button 'phones to talking clocks in rooms, and as well as all of this, they also provide (separate) assistance dog play and spending areas, and a lovely lawn area to boost vitamin D intake, as well as a giant chess set to boot! I'm sure the support at the hotel will help to make your stay as inclusive as possible, the difference between other hotels that 'can' accept disabled people and a specialist provider like Vision is huge. Try it!
Decent stay at the retirement hotel”
I had a decent night's stay at the Windermere Manor Hotel, though the bed was incredibly small. The gardens surrounding the place are well kept and the rooms themselves are clean but a bit dated. Never went in the pool but they have one that looks a bit smaller in real life compared with the photos on the site. This place is a senior-friendly hotel and caters more towards retired folk. Decent value for the money at a discounted rate. Regular rates are a bit steep though.
Good hotel..bit expensive thought”
Possibly one of the more interesting hotels we've stayed in as it caters towards the blind and partially sighted. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed our stay
Good value for the price”
