Situated on Samsean Road, right in the central part of Bangkok, is this cozy venue, offering great accommodation and service at a reasonable price. Some of the famous attractions nearby are The Grand Palace, Vimanmek Palace, Phra Sumeru Fortress, the Golden Mountain, and Wat Pho which used to be the first Thai massage school within the area. Have a taste of Thai nightlife on Khao San Road and Phra Athit Road, which are just a 15-minute walk from the hostel. The property is well facilitated with standard daily amenities as well as Internet services and laundry services. Travelers new to the area must surely try some of the local cuisines near the hotel. Roof View Place Hotel has all of needs prepared while you explore the wonders of Thailand.

Splendid Budget Accommodation. ”
The Roof View Place Hotel is down some local streets and surrounded by a group of hostels. There is nothing that immediately stands out in the Roof View Place Hotel. The friendly welcome from staff is a nice first impression. The room I had clean, decent sized, has a TV, fridge and a small balcony overlooking roofs! The hot water shower worked well in the small bathroom. The Wi-Fi is one of the best I have experienced in the area. The local streets have a number of small restaurants with inside and outside eating areas. Prices here are considerably lower than around the Khaosan Road, a 5/10 minute walk away. Thai (and some Italian) food restaurants are staffed with friendly welcoming people unjaded as they are in the Khaosan. Don't mind the stories about the ladyman.; it is easy to avoid contact. Contrary to what another reviewer wrote, this area is safe. It is a local area where Thai people live and work. Isn't that what you are looking for? I would recommend this hotel.

Basic but very clean”
Khao San Rd is very loud and very crowded. Having now been there and done that I am very glad the Roof View Place Hotel was not any closer. At night it quiets right down so you can sleep, but just a couple blocks away you can still reach amenities. The room we stayed in was very clean and it had everything we wanted: a bed to sleep in. Oh, and it also had a pretty fair view of Bangkok (which isn't pretty or fair, but you get a view of it!). Air conditioner worked great, hotel laundry was cheap and quick, always a couple free bottles of water for us hanging in a bag off the door knob in the morning. The free breakfast was also good and worth waking up before 10am for. There's free coffee/tea in the lobby at all times. The staff were always helpful, even letting us use the family's computer when the hotel's wifi stopped working. They helped with ordering taxis and giving directions when we needed that, and arranged tickets to a Muay Thai fight (Ratchdamnoen Stadium is close, highly recommend this too). If you're on a tight budget but don't want to share a bathroom in a hostel, this is a good option. Also, go to 7-11 for drinks you wish to keep in the fridge in your room. They're typically less than 1/2 the price of what you'd pay in the lobby (free coffee excluded).
High standard and very nice staff”
I am very satisfied with my stay in the Roof View Place Hotel. My room was not only very clean, but also very well equipped. Air conditioning was very efficient and Wi-Fi was free of charge, very reliable and quick (at least at the fifth floor where I stayed), too. It was a nice surprise. There is an interesting lift which you can use to transport your heavy luggage from the ground floor to the floor of your destination. It is a very helpful and convenient solution. I was provided with a free water every day. I was also so happy to start every day with an excellent and tasty breakfast, greeted by smiling staff. The staff was so nice and helpful. They are quite good at English. The hotel is located very close to the strict city centre where you can find numerous stalls with very cheap and tasty food, visit popular tourist attractions and enjoy a night life. I will book a room in the Roof View Place Hotel in the future for sure. If you are not a very demanding tourist and are looking for a relatively high standard for a reasonable cost, it is a very good choice. It will meet your expectations and I have no hesitation in recommending this place to you.
Best Hotel in Bangkok”
This is my 4th time in Bangkok and normally I went as others to Khao San Road to get a Hotel (avoid Khao San if you don't want the tourist things and drunken backpackers) and I need to say this was the best Hotel I have stayed in Bangkok. The staff is suoer friendly and very very helpful. The room was very clean and for the value of money it was more than enough (a/c, fridge, TV, shower, toilet, balcony, wifi very good in my room on the 5th floor, breakfast). One of the highlights is the roof top. Beautiful view to Bangkok city and you can located a couple beautiful temples aswell. The breakfast was very good. Nice freshly made coffee, scrambled eggs, Thai style breakfast, cereals and fruits as much as you wanted. It was yummy and a good start to start the dat with. The location was good for me too. One outstanding point to notice is that the reception provides you with advice to be careful around Bangkok and that people try to overcharge you. They are really focusing on the business and their guests which is a outstanding point for me. You can easily walk to the nearby local fresh food market where you can buy fresh vegetables and supplies for the kitchen for a very good LOCAL price. The people around that area are more friendly than on Khao San Road. Khao San Road is maybe a 10-15min. walk from the hotel. The streets are save and it's was for me a very nice experience to see a bit how tye local people live. It gives you the real experience of Thailand. That matters to me a lot. You can eat around there very cheap and the locals cook it in front of you. Thai food is just one of the best dishes in the world!!! There are 2 temples nearby, maybe 5-10min walk from the hotel. Also the location is very quiet and you don't get any stupid drunken backpackers there. I have met a lot of travelers there which was a very nice experience. Just 1m of the opposite of the Hotel is a massage shop (OUTSTANDING!) and a local corner shop. 200baht 1h Thai massage/local price for shop).
Good location & very helpful staff!”
Considering the place, I think Roof View Place is more like hostel rather than a hotel. But, we have a great time staying there. Here are some pro's & con's for your consideration. Pro's: (1) Very helpful staff who can help to guide you around the area (2) Very clean and they clean it everyday, including changing your towel (3) Close to Chao Phraya River & attractions like Grand Palace & Wat Arun (4) Many 711 around (5) Excellent wifi connection (6) Good breakfast (for muslim, you can have toast, scramble eggs & fruits) (7) Easy to find dinner place at night, at Soi 2 (5 mins walk) they have bars that opens until midnight, you should try Tom Yum Goong at Wunderbar, very tasty! (8) If you need a good travel agent, there is one next to the bridge to Phra Athit Pier, named "So Cool Travel", they give you good price & can show you direction around the city, including which public transportation is more efficient (faster & cheaper) Con's: (1) Hard to find the place for the first time, but you can give the full address to the taxi driver, he'll find the way (2) Watch out for stairs, as this is a hostel, they only have elevator for luggage (3) They still use conventional key for rooms, instead of card key (4) Very small room (my friend have to move the bed a little bit to avoid direct AC to her) (5) No amenities (6) 10 - 15 mins walk to Khaosan Road, though some people will consider this as pro's, but for me it's quite far (7) No MRT/BTS station nearby Despite all the pro's & con's, we are quite satisfy with the place!
Great hotel and staff”
I had a great stay at Roof View Place. Beautiful room with double bed, a little balcony and a nice view. Hotel is very close to Khaosan and near to some great street food places. Good breakfast in the morning with a choice of Thai food, eggs, fruits and toast (changes every day). Friendly and helpful staff. Free luggage storage after check out. Highly recommended and I will come back in April.
Excellent location, great breakfast, super wifi.”
I love the location of Roof View. Just a few minutes walk from Khao San and in easy reach of buses and taxi's you could be in a different world, this little area off Samsen is delightfully quiet yet with enough places to eat and drink that you don't feel cut off at all. The staff at Roof View are great - our room was cleaned every day with bins emptied, clean towels and 500ml of water each. The reception staff are superb, helping us with a camera repair and bag storage. There's a fridge in each room, a safe, comfortable bed, TV, air con and a small balcony. They offer a laundry service, but we used one of the 30 or 40 Baht machines just around the corner (you can't miss them) and you can get a whole household laundry in there, then dry the clothes on your balcony. Help yourself buffet breakfast is great - there's a different Thai dish each day, different eggs (boiled, fried, omlette, scrambled etc), endless bread to toast, butter and marmalade - plus two types of fruit and salad to help yourself to. There's even cereal and milk too as well as filter coffee, tea or chocolate. The rack rate is 900 Baht for a double room, we found it on Agoda for 800 including breakfast for the double room, and just paid that amount directly. It's a great find, quiet, friendly and with superb internet access - it was consistent, across all floors and in the lobby area too, skype voice conversations were easy and upload speeds superb.
Clean comfortable rooms with friendly staff.”
We found the room to be clean and comfortable, it was a good size and had a little balcony which was good for drying clothes or towels. The room had a safe in it which we used to store our valuables. The location was good for us as it was around a 5-10 minute walk to the major tourist areas so much quieter than some places. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful at roof view place, they were always smiling and worked hard to make sure our stay was pleasant. The breakfast in the morning, whilst of slightly limited selection, was really tasty. You could see them cooking it right in front of you and it had the taste of good home cooking. We would definitely come back here if we find ourselves in Bangkok again.
Good location, even better breakfast”
We arrived at Roof View Place at5am and the staff were really accommodating. Our room wasn't due to be ready until 1pm but as another couple checked out early, they made up that room for us for 8am. Breakfast was included and we got a great price for 3 nights. Breakfasts consists of fresh fruit, eggs, toast, cereal, sausages (Thai) and a local noodle type breakfast. Coffee and tea is available for free all day, as is the wifi. The hostel is run by a lovely old lady who does the night shift. I got food poisoning during our stay and she sent up toast and crackers on a tray for me, from her personal food. The staff are very helpful. Rooms are good, with TV, fridge, balcony, safe and hot water. Rooms are cleaned every day with fresh towels and water in the fridge. Only downfall of the hotel is the fact that they don't have a lift. They do have a metal lift type gadget that will take your bags to your room for you, making staying on the 5th floor a little easier. Location is great. It's a 5 minute walk from Khaosan Road and there's many restaurants nearby. We even got the public bus upto the weekend JJ market which was surprisingly easy. If you arrive late evening or early morning is recommend getting a Tuk Tuk to the hostel as it is a bit tucked away behind samsen street. Great stay, would stay again if we return to Bangkok.
Cleanliness, Helpful Staff, and Hearty Breakfast Did It!”
I stayed June 2 - 7, 2016, at Roof View Place, where I always stay whenever I'm in Bangkok. It's a small quiet place, about 10 minutes walk to Khao San, and not all that hard to find. Three things always win my praises! One, cleanliness. If you wish it, your room is cleaned every day, fresh towels provided, lots of hot and cold water. Two, how helpful the staff! Once I lost my receipt for the van ride to the airport, but the owner's daughter talked to the driver, and I was allowed to hop on. If they see you struggling with your luggage from the elevator, they'll lend a hand. Three, breakfast is a feast! Fried or steamed rice or noodles or seafood spaghetti, omelette or sunny side-ups, toasts with butter and jam, cereals, and fruit, like guava, Malayan apples, as well as papaya, pineapple and watermelon. Coffee or tea. Free bottled water each day. What more do you want? I'm pleased each time I drop a tip in the tip box.
Friendly staff and cheap accommodation”
Other than the constant banging of doors from around 6am, we really enjoyed our stay here. Guests shouls already be aware of the sound that travels down each floors corridor and even from the stairwell. A young girl woke us up a few mornings (we think her Mum works at Roof View Place, but even so!). We watched the young girl sit on the kitchen work surface with dirty feet and even knock items off the table (during guests breakfasts time). Other than this we liked our room, which although small was bigger than our last room in Bangkok. The small balcony meant we were also able to hand wash some clothes and leave them outside to dry. The cleaning staff were amazing, and changed the sheet, refilled the complimentary toiletries and replaced the bottled water (also complimentary) every day. If you want a clean hotel as a good base, including breakfast, I can easily suggest Roof View Place. Just don't expect much of a lie in.
a good clean hotel, nice breakfast”
Good value for money, the double room we reserved is good size, comfortable, has a balcony and lots of light, they have a cool elevator for the luggage which we appreciated because our luggage is heavy, they don't offer help to carry the luggage just offer you to use the luggage elevator (only for the luggage not for people), we stayed at the 3ed floor, the Internet was on and off, needed to be reset every half an hour which was a little inconvenient. When we arrived at 2 pm the check in agent was not so nice, and when we left the check out agent (a different agent) was also not so nice and did not even say goodbye. But other than that everyone were very nice and we enjoyed our stay and the roof view place hotel.
Good location, friendly staff, awesome breakfast!”
We had an excellent stay at Roof View. We actually stayed here around 3 months prior when we first got into Bangkok and had a great experience so we decided to go back. The breakfast is legit! Fresh every morning with eggs, toast, rice, fried vegetables, fresh fruit, tea, coffee, etc... I loved it. The location was perfect too; close enough to Kao San Road so you could walk there in about 10 min but far enough that it was quiet and wasn't crazy at nights. The hotel staff was great, helped us out a bunch with taxis and getting to the airport in the middle of the night. Roof View Place was the perfect bookends to our trip in SE Asia. Would def recommend it.
Always a safe bet”
i have stayed at the roof view place twice, and i'll be there for a third visit tomorrow. it's a good, clean hotel in the khao san road district. it's 15 min walk to khao san, which is good because that place gets loud and stays loud every night. the staff at roof view place are always friendly and helpful. the free breakfast is worth waking up for.
Best place in Bangkok ”
I keep coming back to The Roof View Place, the rooms are incredibly affordable, super comfy beds, AC, fridge, balcony with rack for clothes so you can do your own laundry (although they also offer laundry service at a very low price), water pressure in the shower is very good and the best is definitely their breakfast!!! The staff is very friendly and helpful. I always feel like I’m at home
everything a traveller needs”
At first glance the hotel doesn't look special at all. But as so often is the case, it's the details that count. Next to its great location and the friendliest staff you could wish for, the Roof View offers one of the best breakfast buffets we had so far in Asia. The rooms are nothing special but very clean...and who wants to hang out in the hotel anyway with Bangkok waiting?
good location, simple, clean, and friendly”
I stayed in "roof view place hotel" for 6 days. We used "Standard triple room". The room is quite wide for three of us. The rooms are comfortable and clean, bathrooms are clean and functional. Breakfast buffet with various food. It was great. We feel like home in this hotel. We therefore decided to book again this hotel for our return in Bangkok
Quiet; Friendly, Clean and Safe”
Stayed in Roof view Place when starting a 3 months tour of SE Asia, fantastic place to sleep off the jetlag and ease into life on the road. That being said, although slightly more expensive than hostels, definitely worth extra for the privacy and up to the standard of any decent hotel in Europe. Free water and daily room cleaning is a welcomed extra. Only negative point, if you want to use the BTS requires taking a taxi; which can take a long time in periods of heavy traffic. Khao San road; on the other hand is very close. Initially booking two days; i ended up staying there another three nights which enabled me to book the next step of my trip on internet without hassle.
Pleasant hotel close to tourist attractions”
Our stay at Roof View Place place was very pleasant. The room was spotless and a decent size. I wasn't fond of the ultra firm mattress, but almost every bed we slept in in Thailand was, though this was the hardest. The a/c worked great. The surrounding area was kind of odd. Directly across is a cute little shop with beer kept in the ice box and plenty of snacks. There are quite a few little guest houses, cafes, and tiny bars along the connecting alley ways surrounded by lots of residences. The staff was not super friendly, but cordial and helpful enough when asked for anything in particular. Breakfast was pretty good, with eggs, do it yourself toast, fresh fruit, rice, salad, and maybe on other side dish. Juice, water, and beer are available for purchase. Khao San road and the bigger tourist attractions are a short boat, taxi, or tuk tuk ride away. Overall a very good bargain.
