Room was very comfortable and clean specially the toilet , wifi connection very good thumps up . The place which okey not much crowded and noisy. Staff are friendly they are always smile and greet to us everytime we go in and out from hotel. The lady assist us to allow check in earlier 7am😉 eventhough the check in time is around 2pm. Thanks so much to you i forgot to get her name tag. Faster and easy to checking out. My kids are enjoying roaming around in our 5 days vacation... Just walking distance to SM robinson and many food Stall around the corner. Thank you so much all the staff in Rothman Hotel . I will highly recommend this hotel to all friends and relatives who likes to stay in malate area. Overall thumps up and happy new year .
Very pleased with our stay here”
When we booked this hotel, my condition was such that I could not carry heavy things, so my husband had to handle our year-old child and our bags. Thankfully, the bellmen of Rothman hotel are quick to assist guests and that was the first thing that I was thankful for. Next, we were pleased to discover that all rooms had an ante-room with a table,2 chairs, a water heater, and a refrigerator. This allowed us to have our chats, and late-night coffee/dinner in the ante-room while our child slept peacefully in the bedroom. The bathroom was very clean with marble tiles and the heaters were fully functional. As to shopping and dining, Robinson's Place Manila was a mere 250 meters away. When we left, they allowed us to deposit our bag for free. The only misgiving we had was that they did not have a baby chair in their restaurant. Overall, we were very pleased and will book this hotel again.
As always: The best in the area”
The outside look of the hotel is quite disgusting and very very very old. BUT: You won't see it once you are Inside. Rothman is just perfect and most rooms newly renovated. Staff is friendly and not complicated at all. Food is good, WiFi is perfect allover the hotel, laundry just next door, 7Eleven (24hrs) just next door, Shopping Mall "Robinsons Place" 1 minute walk. ONLY NEGATIIVE POING is the Air Condition which is outdated, loud and impossible to really adjust (hotel management: Please undertake steps in order to fix, there are so many comments, mentioning this!!!!!!!!!!!! And yes, there are beggars and homeless in the streets (see other comments/complaints). But if you expect a "Singapore scenery" here don't come to Manila. There are so many suffering (better you buy some rice and chicken or milk powder 1x per day and give it to a homeless mother in the street). Tipp: If you don't like street noise, ask for a room heading to the back side of the hotel (send e-mail in advance9, it is very quiet, whereas the front side is noisy. NB:: Riviera Mansion Hotel belongs to the same group and is just half a block away. But DON'T go there if Rothman is available. Everything in Rothman is better in particular the WiFi which is a desaster in Riviera Mansion.
Good value for money”
If you are looking for a 5 Star hotel then perhaps this is not the one for you. However, if you are like me, and looking for good value, clean spacious and quiet rooms, excellent friendly staff, good restaurant/café and meals and a central location which is a reasonable distance from the airport, then this is most certainly the hotel for you. A special mention for the very friendly and very helpful housekeeping staff and also for the 'guys at the front door'. And not to forget the smiling and helpful ladies at the front reception counter. My only suggestions would be to include 2 coffee cups and spoons to accompany the electric jug in the room (however, just ask the housekeeping staff for any such shortfalls and they will assist with a friendly smile). I have stayed here twice now and I will most certainly return. I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending the Rothman Hotel.
Great Value, Staff, Room”
I enjoyed my stay very much. I already plan on going back to Manila and staying at The Rothman Hotel again and in the same room, hopefully. The Lobby was very busy and fun to watch the guests coming and going. But I enjoyed quiet time too, in my room, very relaxing. I saw a few parades out the window from the third floor, a taste of Manila. The hotel was very clean, I really enjoyed my stay.
Great for quick stay in Manila”
My sister and I needed somewhere to stay for one night in Manila. The Rothman Hotel is centrally located near many restaurants and a big mall. The outside of the building doesn't look like much but the inside is clean. Not a fancy place but gets you what you need-- a clean room and bathroom with air conditioning and elevator. Staff was very friendly and helpful about getting around. They checked the taxi with a flashlight after we got out to make sure that we hadn't left anything in the taxi.
Value for money hotel with nice service”
pros: the hotel was fairly easy to find, especially since it's just along the storied adriatico st. in malate, which also wasn't as bad as i'd expected. ermita is a constantly evolving place, no wonder one finds all sorts of travelers, regulars and locals on adriatico st. there are historic sites nearby and the hotel isn't that far from manila's more touristy attractions. since i'm into street food/hole-in-the-wall establishments, there are a few delightful spots that might surprise you if you looked hard enough. the courteous woman at the front desk accommodated my early check-in, but i had to wait a reasonable 30 minutes because the room had to be cleaned. so, i headed straight to the shawarma snack center, which serves middle eastern food. great food. when i returned, the room was ready and for the price i paid, i was happy with it. the hallway ceiling was being renovated, but it didn't bother anyone. as for the malate area, i didn't feel threatened walking along the hotel area at 3 a.m., but that's because i'm a local and nobody bothered haranguing me. still, if one keeps a low profile and just not do anything stupid, the malate area would be an interesting place to stay in for 2 to 3 days. anyway, if things get ugly, there's a police station nearby. too bad i only had an overnight stay, so i wasn't able to sample several stalls, like the one that sold ramen in a watering hole for backpackers. cons: while walking the stretch of adriatico st. looking for the hotel that morning, i couldn't help but feel disgusted with the stink of urine, and on a couple of instances, the sight of feces on the sidewalk. there were vagrants in every corner. this is a serious problem that the district and city officials must address.
I was pleasantly surprised how nice this place is.”
I had a really nice 12-day stay. My first time at the Rothman and my first time in Manila. The food was very tasty. Try their Filipino Breakfast with the tocino (a sweet cooked pork). The room was spacious with plenty of storage space, and was cleaned every day with fresh sheets and towels. I tipped the 2 cleaning girls 100 pesos each and they were very appreciative. I tipped them each week as they rotate floors. The a/c in the room was great. Staff was friendly and helpful in every way. Free wi-fi is only in the lobby and coffee shop; staff will input the password for you -- just ask. The coffee shop is open until 10 PM so outside of the breakfast hours I had no trouble just sitting at an unused table without having to buy anything. Wi-fi speed is good, 54 Mbps for my /g laptop. If you need a taxi, they will tell you who is good, and who to avoid. Money changers everywhere. Bring plenty of dollars or other currency. Leave your travelers' checks at home. No good anywhere in Manila, except to open a dollar account at one of the many banks.
Good hotel for a budget stay in Manila”
our group of 4 stayed at the rothman hotel in february for 3 nights. the hotel has a great central location, robinsons shopping mall is just around the corner. also rizal park is walking distance as are numerous restaurants, pubs and bars. we stayed on the 4th floor, our room was facing the back yard, my friends were opposite and thus their windows were facing the street. there were pros and cons to both. my friends’ room got the noise from the street traffic (cars tooting is the sound of manila but after a while you get used to it). our room, although much quieter, had an ugly view of a huge dirty wall. as we only used the rooms for sleeping, we did not mind at all. when you open the door there is a little corridor with a fridge, table and some chairs. although we always ate out, the fridge was very handy for storing our water bottles. the bedroom is l shaped and the size is adequate. there was also a dressing table with a big mirror, wardrobe, coffee table and chairs and a tv on a small cabinet. the air conditioning in our room was quite old and not very powerful but my friends had a newer and better one. the room was clean with the exception of the air con unit which was quite grubby. the whole décor was very outdated but was kept in a good condition so we didn’t mind at all. bathroom had hot and cold shower and was cleaned daily. breakfast was served in the restaurant on the ground floor just behind the reception. the food was nice and the staff was very attentive. we mostly opted for the american breakfast and omelettes with some coffee and orange juice. overall, we enjoyed our stay. the hotel is basic but more than enough for our needs. you get exactly what you pay for. one thing i was particularly wary of was safety but it turned out that i had nothing to worry about as the hotel felt very safe and the clientele looked decent too.
Good hotel in a strange area.”
Well it was strange to me anyway. Only my second time in Manila and I thought Makati very unusual. Took a long time to get there from the airport, but then found out later that the Grab driver didn't take the SkyWay. Probably to save me the 80 pesos. Insist on it! I specified a quiet room, and it was that. Quiet, comfortable and tidy. Full marks. The view was nothing special and it's not worth paying more for that. They may have had facilities but I only used the in-house laundry. They did seem to charge an express price for that merely because I asked that they ensure delivery within the standard time frame. They were guest friendly and were security conscious of guests, which is good. There was no extra charge, although I had paid for two anyway. The Rothman is very close to the mall, if you like that sort of thing, and the staff are reasonably helpful.
Best value in a great location”
Rothman is well managed and continually improves in standard and service. The staff are excellent and understand western expectations. The price is still almost in the budget range and there's now an airport bus to and from the Robinson shopping centre nearby. This is still my best hotel experience in Manila around the P2,000 range.
Very comfortable. Friendly efficient staff. Clean.”
Above average Level 4 as a basic, good Manila vacation stay. Great Staffing and quick service all around. Outside Delux rooms normally include microwave and hair dryer which were absent in our Rothman room. The rooms (handles, TV control) need to be sprayed with disinfectants to prevent catching flu and cold germs. High hotels normally have complimentary matchbooks at the front desk upon request- absent from Rothman. Although the Front desk had no maps to offer regarding nearby shopping, Church(s), entertainment, barber/nails, etc., the Bell staff were knowledgable to direct us where we asked for info. Bell service were especially protective of us away from panhandlers and inexperienced cab drivers.
Late arrival - over night stay Oct 16, 2014”
Using Agoda, made it fast and simple to get a cheaper room for our over night stay in Manila. It was a short cab ride (P78.50) to City Hall. Staff received my online booking with note that we'd have a late check in. Staff fluent in English and very helpful. I would recommend the Rothman for anyone wanting to stay in that part of town. My only drawback is there are a lot of street beggars, if you want to take a walk, it's annoying. We tried entering the Dining Room at 9:46pm and We had to go out to eat! My wife and I were not impressed. We asked the Bell boy when we were in the room (#608) if the Dining Room was available - he said do Room Service. We don't want room service. He said they close at 10PM. Well - they closed early.
Good location , friendly staffs & value for money”
Since I had used to travel many places around the world , Rothman Hotel is a Comfortable & safe stay here to me. Although the hallway & bathroom look a bit out of date & aging , I really don't mind about it ! Because we got a spacious room space , comfortable bed , dining areas & especially the friendly staffs attitude here !! Will recommend to stay here ! But sometimes, I found out that, wifi signal connection was weak in room. Sandakan - Vespa Big O'
Nice hotel with clean rooms.”
We have arrived at noon expecting to wait for quite a while to check-in, however we were surprised that our waiting time was not more then 10 minutes including the paperwork despite quite a few people in the lobby. Staff have managed to accommodate us in no time. Room was quite big, nicely cleaned.Bathroom had all the necessary staff inside.(as we have experienced lately-not all the hotels have small but important thing like soap, toothbrushes, etc. - in case if you need one - even the rates are much higher then in Rothman). We have stayed for 5 days and going to come back in the future. By the way, food is good as well and prices are lower, then in any of the surrounding restaurants/eateries.
Don't let the outside fool you.”
It might look old from the outside but the inside are all renovated. Told the hotel staff that management needs to finish their task by painting the outside. The rooms are spacious and clean. Staffs are friendly and helpful. They greet you warmly. Near shops, mall, restaurants and Manila's landmarks. Airport and US Embassy is close by. Making the Rothman Hotel my go-to-lodging.
Comfortable and affordable.”
This is a good hotel for the budget conscious traveller. It provides comfortable accommodation at affordable prices, a good café/restaurant, friendly staff and a good central location in Malate, central Manila. Not really a criticism, but the hotel staff might like to strongly warm guests about the chronic problem of professional pick-pockets in the general area, particularly at the nearby 'Robinson Place' shopping mall. A very convenient place to stay”
i have no complaints about rothmans as a long term stay hotel. for the price i was surprised at the comfortable layout & amenities of my room. everything was in clean & in good working order. i had only used it as a temporary stay when the hotel i intended to book at had no more vacancies but after second thought i rebooked again for my trip out. two thumbs up for value for money.

rothman is just walking distance from robinson malate shopping centre and reception is great good rooms nice and clean on very comfortable price like to stay everytime and night life is so good
Very good hotel”
When in Manila, I always stay in Rothman Hotel, which has become very familiar to me. Nice rooms with great comfort, fridge, hot water boiler, spacious bathroom and CR, free parking if with car, and nice and good restaurant.
