I have been a annual visitor to Rottnest for many years. I come over mid year for a long weekend with my long time friends. This recent trip was with my partner, who hadn't been for 30 years. we had a great trip and as we were time poor we spend the day on the jump on/off bus. We love that it still isn't spoilt, Gillian

Rottnest is stunning but accommodation very poor value for money”
Rottnest Island is absolutely stunning and is a "must visit" for Perth travelers. However, if you book accommodation you should be aware that it is provided by a Western Australia Government department. So expect the same level of customer service you normally get from Government departments. We were housed in accommodation that bore no resemblance to the photos or map on Agoda. Check in time was not until 2pm with a rushed 9am check out! For AUD 200 that was just 19 short hours in the accommodation. Not much opportunity for a leisurely breakfast!

Always relaxing”
We love staying at Rottnest. Never a five star experience but safe and fun to ride bikes and swim all day with so many beautiful bays to choose from. So glad the Island provides linen now :)

Expensive for single travellers but....”
If you really want to experience Rottnest Island you need to stay there and you have no choice but to book accommodation through the Rottnest Island authority and the options are limited . My accommodation was very basic and expensive for a single traveller (my cabin could sleep six). It was also a long walk into the restaurant precinct and, being older, hiring a bike wasn't an option. However I really enjoyed my time on the island so I guess it was worth it.

Great location, relaxing stay”
Loved staying at Rottnest for the first time. The location was great, very close to beach and easy walk to the pub and town. Unit was basic but had everything we needed.

Generally acceptable although it took many phone calls and a visit to the visitor centre to obtain the linen for the unit which had been ordered 7 days prior to arrival. Quokkas were a nuisance without any way of keeping them out of the unit apart from keeping the door closed - very claustrophobic. The stay on Rottnest Island was very relaxing and enjoyable

Had a lovely time and it reminded us just how great and relaxing the Island is. The accommodation was basic and rustic but absolutely perfect in that we had everything we needed. Definitely going back really soon.

Overpriced and underwhelming”
Everything is very overpriced, particularly restaurant food, overpriced and not tasty or prepared with care, except for the café in Geordie Bay which is worth the trip to the other side of the island. Children's Pub meals particularly were small portions (up to 12 year olds served for $14 only main meal, if you could call it that). Badly cooked steak, dry, charred, when I stated this noting was done or an option offered. No customer service, some staff in the Aristos Cafe made you feel like they are doing you a favour! Locally caught whiting and chips $42! You are a captured audience so I guess it doesn't really matter was the feeling..Chalet accommodation expensive, no small touches of customer service such as tea,coffee, milk and only one loo role for a family of 4. Not a great customer experience. My Chalet for which we paid "premium" had a great view....bus tour around the island expensive and not that interesting. No wonder Perth people say they can't afford to go across and choose overseas options where the tourist is really considered and respected.

So many types of accomodation ”
We did not get the unit in the photo on Agodas website. We were in a wooden cabin in tent land with the next cabin right on our doorstep, Agoda needs to provide more details on the types of units/cabins that are available and a map of where they are located. Rottnest is beautiful.

Medioca satisfaction with visit”
People staying next to our unit were very noisy especially the second night (3.30am) a man was bashing on the door and shouting to people inside the unit to let him in. Most disturbing. The unit - no extras at all - considering the cost of the stay. Gorgeous environment throughout the island itself.

Just what we needed for 1 or 2 nights to lay our heads ”
Much cleaner than I was expecting and more ammenities such as the mini oven and microwave. Toilets and showers were spacious and loved that they weren't communal like the camping sites. Sheets were clean and front desk for very polite.

cabin accommodation”
We stayed one night in the cabin area, which is in perfect location. Only a short walk to The Basin beach and Lighthouse. This is basic accommodation but totally adequate. We enjoyed our stay and wished we had booked for at least two to three nights. You have to vacate by 9am, there are secure lockers behind info office. The snorkelling areas are wonderful and diverse. No need to take provisions as the General Store is very reasonable. Great stay at Agoda special rates. A&R

Superb location , beautiful scenery”
The apartment was in a good location close to restaurants, shops, beach etc. The efficiency and coordination of check in, ferry, bike hire and luggage was excellent. Staff at information desk very friendly and helpful. The weather and scenery was superb. Great place to visit.
