Hotel being refurbished”

We should have been advised that hotel was in middle of being refurbished when we booked. Breakfast hit and miss, very little choice as mostly run out of provisions. Asked If they would restock (no cereal no milk nothing to put on waffles) was told by member of staff there was nothing to restock and what did we expect for what we had paid! Pool out of use and the fitness room also out if use.

The rooms themselves are nice however security was not up to par all access doors were accessible at all times of the night no card key needed.Random people hanging around the building.

The rooms looked nice; however, the beds and pillows were awful. The dock and picnic tables were falling apart. One picnic table didn't even have benches on it and a piece of the bench of the only other broke off and pinched my butt. There needs to be more tables and lighting on the dock or at least in the parking lot out back. The breakfast was good, staff was pleasant and pool was in good condition.

I spent nearly $100 a night on this hotel and I would absolutely say it was not worth the money. The pictures are misleading and outdated, the "beach" outside the hotel was small and very dirty. I took my 4 y/o son outside to run in the sand and had to stop because of the trash and pieces of broken glass. The reception area looks nothing like the pictures and the rooms are much smaller than shown. The floors and the shower in the room were also dirty. My wife had to clean the shower before she felt comfortable using it and we had to wear socks the entire trip to able to walk around. The trip was in the middle of May and the pool was closed and it did not appear it would be open soon. The staff was friendly, but having a nice staff doesn't make up for everything else that was wrong with the hotel. My advise would be to save the extra $25 a night and stay at the Ramada Plaza 5 minutes away. The Roya Hotel feels more like a cheap motel with a fresh coat of paint and large price tag.

Renovation... That's Was The Biggest Concern... I Really Found Very Unpleasing... Take Away The Mold And The Closing Off The Pool...Plus The Renovation ... The Hotel Has Potential...In The future.

Bed was unconfortable, no safety bars in the shower. It is a 2 star hotel instead of 3 stars as it is reviewed.
