Royal Asia Lodge”

Quiet-Clean-Great Breakfast-Friendly helpful staff-Good location
Bit of a walk to main drag in the heat

I find the Royal Asia Lodge to be a great place to stay while in Bangkok. It's located on soi 8 near the Sky Train Nana station. It's about a 1/4 mile walk to the hotel from Sukhumvit but the hotel tuk-tuk is usually available at least one direction. The hotel is nothing fancy but I found it to be a great value. The lobby is nice with reasonably priced internet rates, the rooms spacious, quiet, clean, and with hot water. The lighting was good in the room(not always a feature in Thai hotels)with reading lights by the bed. There's a small pool on the roof that's nothing special but the water is clean and it refreshes on a hot afternoon. There is also a massage service in the hotel that offers massage in the spa or in your room. I believe they offer all types of massage. The hotel is guest friendly and maintains a wholesome family friendly atmosphere. Of course one of the most important attributes of a good hotel is the staff and the staff at the Royal Asia is wonderful. Professional and friendly they always performed their duties with grace and warmth. Last but not least is the breakfast that comes with the room. Beyond doubt the best western breakfast I've had in Thailand. I've stayed at the Royal Asia 3 or 4 times and the next time I'm going to Bangkok I'll be staying there again if the price is still good.

Royal Asia Lodge”

Great staff-Great breakfast
drains is shower could be faster

Another stay at the Royal Asia, another happy experience. I returned to Bangkok glad to know I was going to be staying at the Royal Asia. After staying there 3 or 4 other times it has a very familiar and comfortable feel to me. Although I must admit I felt that way after only a couple of days on my first visit. All the lobby staff greeted me with warmth and I felt sincerely welcomed. It was still one of the better priced hotels Agoda had to offer in Bangkok and the breakfast was as good as ever. I always seem to have good conversations with fellow travelers at breakfast and in the lobby at the Royal Asia. On more than one occasion I've needed to leave for the airport at 6am and my wake-up call has been on time and the taxi waiting as arranged. Professional and warm is how I would describe the Royal Asia staff. I look forward to staying there again.

Aslice of paradise”

Location, location, location, good breakfast, polite staff, clean and quiet, non smoking floors, roof top pool and outdoor area with great views. Free Wi-Fi internet
Some rooms have shower over bath and need safety hand rail. Internet connection sometimes dodgy. TV reception poor

Royal Asia Lodge is in a no thru road therefore it's quiet. The rooms are clean and quiet and the restaurant on the top floor has a great view of the city skyline. Staff are friendly an helpful. The rooftop pool and deck are a pleasant surprise. They have a Tuk Tuk service that can drop you off at Sukhumvit road or pick you up. Nana BTS is at end of street. Soi 8 is great for eating out with a very good selection of cafes, bars and restaurants to choose from and prices are reasonable. There's food to suit anyone.

needs a facelift

Have stayed here many times before and I think it's one of the best value hotels in Sukhumvit. It's a little bit of a walk down Soi 8 but the hotel have a few tuk-tuks. I've found the hotel always clean, safe, quiet and secure. The staff have always been professional, helpful and courteous. I choose my hotels on what I'm prepared to pay at that time and I find the Royal Asia Lodge great value for money - and just the job when you're stuck in Bangkok due to flight disruptions.

Royal Asia Lodge A-OK”

Tuk-tuk service up and down the soi was excellent. Rooms comfortable, staff very friendly and helpful. 'Fridge in room. Great location near Skytrain.
Swimming pool looked a little dank, but I didn't use it.

Royal Asia Lodge is in great location near Skytrain, free tuk-tuk service up and down soi operates 24/7. Rooms comfortable with cable TV and air con and refrigerator. Staff friendly and helpful. Cheaper price to book over Internet. Buffet breakfast included in price. Didn't use swimming pool, which is small. Room cleaned daily.

Quiet, value for money, clean, great location, friendly staff
Shower over very narrow bath, ok if you're 5 foot tall and weigh 50kg, shower/bath needs safety handrail. Rooms could do with a make-over. TV reception need to be fixed and same with wireless internet

Royal Asia Lodge is in a great location with easy access to BTS and many places to eat, drink and shop. RAL is in a no thru road which means NO noisy passing traffic. They have a free tuk tuk service to take you to and from Sukhumvit road. The staff are friendly and helpful and never pushy. Soi 8 has many good places to eat that will suit most tastes and budgets. Great location for families as there are no bar girls hanging out on the street.

Great Location!”

Location, Friendly staff

we really enjoyed our stay at royal asia lodge. although the hotel may have seen better days, it is clean, comfortable, spacious, and in a prime location! soi 8 is right at the nana sky train stop and is super convenient to get around the city. it's in an ex-pat neighborhood, so great food and no solicitations! it had a pool and sun bathing area on the roof, pool might not be in the best condition but we enjoyed several afternoons on the roof!

I pass through BKK regularly and have now decided to call the Royal Asia Lodge my home when I am there. The internet was great and worked fine in my room. The room was far better than similar priced places and the front desk were very helpful. The only problem I could say was the water pressure in the shower was not up to standard.

the staff, quiet location, cleanliness

Great, their internet feed cable failed in the street, So I checked into Tai-Pan hotel for three days, It was much more modern & much more expensive but not anywhere near as comfortable, friendly or fun. So I checked back into Royal Asia Lodge as soon as their Internet Feed was fixed. The Hotel was older but higher quality than modern hotels, It was sparkling clean but & could benefit from a bit of maintenance on the door locks & plumbing. The Staff were great. Female Guest Friendly. Its at the very quiet end of an interesting street, Vegetarian Indian restaurants nearby & lots of contact with the locals.

New and imporved?”

Value, location, clean.
Slightly inconvenient access

The Royal Asia Lodge seems to be improving. This time, everything in the room was as expected -clean sheets, Tv, lights, plumbing, everything working fine. Didn't try the telephone because there was no need to call the front desk. Both the golf carts that carry customers to and from Sukhumvit were running, day and night, and the call button near Sukhumvit was working. The staff was courteous as ever and the breakfast edible! I heard from another guest that some rooms are being renovated -that's nice, but not necessary. It seems that the hotel had come under new management and its starting to look like an even nicer place to say.

Centered in the Sukumvit business area, great value, large suite, friendly staff

Enjoyed my stay at the Royal Asia Lodge as I always do. This must be my 15th stay at this hotel. As always, an enjoyable stay with friendly staff, especially Mr. Song Sak who was very helpful in checking in, especially at 3:30 AM. He insured that everything was working properly and even exchanged a refrigera- tor that very morning to insure that we would have ice. Service above and beyond requirements.

i was flying into bkk late at night. my flight was delayed and it was evident that i was going to miss my connection. i rebooked my flight for the next day and decided where i would spend the night - airport or in town? i decided on the royal asia lodge - pretty cheap and i'd stayed there on many occasions before. made the booking on agoda late afternoon and it was confirmed on my blackberry 10 minutes later. i eventually arrived at bkk about 1am and checked into the hotel at 2am.. (no traffic). the clerk got the booking deatails straight off my blackberry without a printed paper voucher - excellent. checked out 8 hours later, had a meal on soi 8 and did some shopping in sukhumvit before returnig to the airport for my flight connection. geat price on agoda. the hotel cost about the same as the taxi to and from the airport.

You are very close to shopping centers, restaurants, and other essential travel points. The hotel is situated on Soi 8 which is a very serene area with good restaurants and pubs. Suites are large and comforable

i would definetely recommand a suite instead of a normal hotel room at the royal asia lodge. the suites are in a separate (newer) building. they have a sitting area, a huge bed(room), a kitchen and a fairly sized bathroom. before you accept a room, please check if everything is working properly; such as the in room safe, doorlock {keycard!}, hot water. if thats ok you'll enjoy your stay! although it's a bit worn out, don't expect to much for the price. the suites need refurbishment. but again: it's a good basis for your business trip or holiday to see this huge city which has so much to offer. if you want a more luxurous stay,

Safe surroundings in Bangkok”

I liked that the hotel was situated in a quiet and safe neighborhood. The staff was friendly and room service reliable.
The price could have been cheaper compared with other hotels we stayed in during our holidays in Thailand.

We stayed at Royal Asia Hotel twice during our two weeks vacation in Thailand. We both arrived and departed from Bangkok, which made it natural to spend some days in the capital. My boyfriend had stayed in Royal Asia Hotel previously, and was very content about his prior stay. At his first visit at Royal Asia Hotel, he had found the hotel on the internet and made the bookings over the internet too. We did the same - and had a great time relaxing and enjoying the area around the hotel, the easy accessibility and the peaceful surroundings.

Quiet Street.

For the price the Royal Asia Lodge is a find! On the quiet end of Soi 8 near many high end Condos and more expensive hotels the Royal Asia is a bargain.. The walk down Soi 8 is pleasant and takes you past a few bars, restaurants, food carts, Massage, 7Elevens and Lolitas. You can cut through to Soi 6 at Lolitas too. The location is close to Nana Plaza and all the action on the sidewalks at night including the great bars and restaurants that pop up on the sidewalk at 2 AM! The room is spacious and clean and includes air-con, plenty of hot water and a large refrigerator. There's a pool on the roof. It's covered and the hot tub was empty when I was there. The view from the roof is cool and there's a small place to take some sun if you're so inclined. Also on the 9th floor is the restaurant ...breakfast was included with my room. And again there are no charges for guests! Life is good at The Royal Asia Lodge. Enjoy!

location, price

I've stayed in the Royal Asia Lodge on many occasions and for the price it's still a great package of location, decent enough rooms and efficent and friendly staff. If I'm spending 2 or 3 days in Sukhumvit, expect to be eating out all the time and I don't want to spend too much money on the hotel room, then the Royal Asia Lodge is where I usually go. The rooms are a little tired but they seem to be doing some refurbisment (taking out baths and replacing them with showers).
