This is a very interesting hotel. We were happy being here but also intrigued. It’s very bling, it’s a huge hotel with different buildings everywhere, some are functional some aren’t. It smells of cigarettes everywhere and we had to get a room change. The sheets felt damp and the beds are queen with no blankets lol but was fine. The outdoor pool for me is the best!! I absolutely loved swimming in this pool. Buffet breakfast was good and staff were nice. There weren’t many ppl for such a huge facility and not sure about the location. Everything seemed quiet around the hotel. One of the best French cherry tarts I’ve probably ever had in the cake cabinet!!

Great Value”
My friends and I were traveling on a budget and came upon the Royal Halong Hotel! We were able to get a room for two nights for <$40/each! The pool was massive and it was just a 20 min grab to the ferry/speedboat terminal! Would stay again. The breakfast buffet was also great.

Lovely hotel”
Great place, I'd stay there again. Great big room, comfortable bed, cleaning staff were excellent. Great view of Halong Bay when you stay in a bay view room. People smoke everywhere in the hotel though and as a westerner I wasn't prepared for that. The food was great. A few small things kept me from giving top marks all round - carpet wasn't clean, the sofa in my room not clean. The staff by the pool very slow to give service. And - get this - if you take a beer from the mini bar and then replace it, they still charge you because all the drinks in the minibar has stickers on them, so they know if you have replaced them! Not okay for a 5 star hotel. We made a real fuss and were let off in the end, but you shouldn't have to go through all that hassle in such a nice hotel. All in all though, a great place to stay, in can absolutely recommend it.

The room is deluxe double. It has ocean view. It is wide and clean with being maintained well. I am fully satisfied with the room. And moreover they give us free dinner buffet and breakfast. But the site of hotel is apart from the center of Ha Long tourist area.

Great hotel but a lot of construction going on. ”
Nice, clean and comfy hotel. Nice view of Ha Long Bay and pleasant facilities. Though around there is a lot of construction going on. Not that much of a disturbance when it comes to noice, just that it meant the surrounding were a bit deserted and the beach was barely accessible. Good to know is that the upcoming amusement park and tourist area is supposed to be done within two years and will probably make the hotel's location amazing. The staff was really nice and the laundry service amazing. Speaking English might not be the staff's best asset, but there were a few okey ones.

Exceptional”
A beautiful and luxurious hotel. Providing a good view and facilities such as fitness centre, pool and sauna to help relax. The staff are very friendly and very professional. The hotel is kept clean, and the architecture is simply magnificent. The sauna is seperate for males and females which can be good or bad depending on the guests. Our room was decorated well with good feng shui. The room service was exceptional. Everyday towels were replaced and the room rearranged. Overall, very pleased with the stay and would definitely stay again.

We were very satisfied with our stay. The price-performance ratio was good. The rooms were very clean, the service was excellent. But I am not sure, If this is a 5* hotel. Little suggestions: The TV channels definitely should be updated. There are no useful channels for foreigners. Apart from that everything was ok.

Very rarely do I find a hotel in Asia with no faults. This was as good as it gets. The design of the hotel exterior is distinctively plain and looks about 10 years old. Don't be fooled, once you step inside you enter a 5 star luxury hotel and everything is just as you would hope for. Loved the room, lobby and ambience was excellent, staff spoke very good English, in house restaurant was lovely and breakfast was a great international spread.

Luxury hotel with international standard”
Our stay was really comfortable. Beautiful equipped rooms and Lobby. The "all-day" restaurant - the only one in this big hotel - offered a great Vietnamese or chinese breakfast, but during the day nobody was as staff and as guests inside. Hotel staff mostly not speak and understand English, even "restaurant" or "hungry" or "we want to eat" was not understandable by the staff. Only some person at receiption understood English. The entrance into the Casino was not accepted for my wife (she is Thai, but looked as a Vietnamese). On our request, why she could not go in, the staff did not understand us, but still let her not come in with me. The indoor pool, Spa and Gym was not finished yet, that complete area and floor was under construction. Most tourists in this Hotel are from China, Korea or Taiwan, so it is a good stay for tourists from that countries. Not to recommend for European tourists. Also there was no international food available. For international food was necessary to go by taxi or to walk about 1 km from the hotel.

A nice view of the bay..”
Arriving our driver said - "5 Star Hotel" - quite Chinese modern decorative style lobby - the room excellent -great view of the bay - and brilliant bathrooms - quality bedding and towels. The hotel indoor pool was closed for major renovation as were many areas - like coffee shop and lobby bar, the hotel is a casino - so MANY tourist coaches bringing Chinese 'punters' in and out of the property.. They didn't stay at the hotel. NO guests - checked the restaurant-twice NOBODY. Got taxi to Novotel close by drink and evening meals - recommended.

A lot of construction work going on”
Disapointing. Not much to do for the kids (11 and 12) and a lot of construction work next to hotel and the entire Halong beach front. The staff was friendly and spoke ok English. Very big Casino but we did not try it. (Western) Breakfast was not very nice.

5 stars hotel in less developed Asia country sense. Big gold plated lobby catering for old Chinese mentality customers. No western bar, you should go to Novoltel 5 minutes down the road. Breakfast is huge and great except western cooked dishes like beacon and sausage. Central to all restaurants and shops . Someone will speak good English to understand you eventually though it might take one or two change but it is understandable when one pays less than half for Hyatt, Inter Continental etc
