Review summary

Powered by OpenAI

This conveniently located hotel near train and bus stations is praised for its friendly staff and offers good value for money. Guests can enjoy a delicious breakfast at the restaurant and bar, and the charming foyer with a magnificent lobby and staircase is a relaxing spot for a drink.

Despite some dated and worn-out furniture in the rooms, the hotel's street and bird noise may disturb light sleepers. However, overall stay was adequate.

“Excellent choice if you get a good deal”

We booked short notice and travelled WAY off peak (February) so the room was just under £42 which was excellent value. The location is fantastic, right in the centre of town beside the train station. We got lucky with a parking spot right outside the hotel but realistically I wouldn't count on getting a spot there as space was very limited - 5-10 cars max and it was TIGHT getting in. Larger cars (or those used to bigger roads/car parks - Americans!) might really struggle. We didn't get breakfast included as there is a variety of really nice cafes and restaurants a short walk from the hotel which were much better value (highly recommend the Red Pepper Cafe just down the street). To be honest we didn't interact with the staff much as it was just one night, but the reception staff were polite and checked us in efficiently. The room was comfortable and the bathroom had clearly been updated pretty recently, but it is a very old building so I can see why fussier customers or those who paid high season prices might have complaints. Minor paint chips or damaged coving, and it's obviously been redecorated a lot over the years. The room did have modern conveniences like usb charging ports on the plugs etc., and the cupboard included extra pillows and blankets. Everything was clean as a whistle despite booking literally an hour before we arrived.

    “Recommend it!”

The Royal Highland Hotel lives up to its name, offering a truly regal stay in the heart of Inverness. It is situated conveniently next to the train station but Despite its central location, the hotel manages to retain a peaceful atmosphere. The hotel's charm lies in its beautiful antique interiors. The elaborate staircase, reminiscent of the Titanic's grand stairway according to some reviews, is a real showstopper. The hallways may have a touch of old-world charm, with some featuring classic wallpaper and others boasting a more contemporary style. The rooms are well-sized and after a day of exploring the Highlands, you can retreat to your comfortable haven and truly unwind. When it comes to breakfast, it offers a decent spread of breakfast options.

    “Centre of Town”

Very close the night life, cafes and restaurants. Parking is tight and on a few spots first in first serve. Rooms we clean and king bed was of a good size. Bathroom was small but good shower with plenty of hot water

    “Full of character”

An old traditional hotel. Full of character. Magnificent main stair. Breakfast in the ball room. Bedroom big enough for a dance. Two Queen size comfortable beds. Large en suite. Shower mixer faulty. Plenty hot water for the large deep bath. Bar restaurant was functional. Continental breakfast included in the rate was excellent with plenty of choice. Cooked breakfast was available for £7.00 extra. Amazing value located in heart of town and as a bonus we occupied one of the free parking spaces at the front door. Fantastic price on a par with the budget chain offerings but much better value and location. We will stay there next time

    “Perfect city centre spot”

I needed a bed at short notice after some travel disruption. The Royal was perfect spot - very close to Inverness Bus Station where I needed to catch a bus early next morning. A very comfortable bed, en-suite facilities, nice welcome at reception - and a good night's sleep. I'd happily stay again.
