Functional and quiet”
There's nothing special about the Royal Hotel, but it is clean and functional. If you need somewhere to sleep for not much outlay, this will do the job. Whilst it is aging, it is in better condition than many other budget hotels in Vung Tau. It has a small gym and it shares the Rex swimming pool. However, I don't recommend the pool, as it is heated - a ridiculous idea in hot Vung Tau. The room also used older, large three-prong electrical outlets, and not many were available for accessories.

Traditional dated hotel ”
My third visit to Vung Tau ,Royal Hotel is just a normal hotel which I feel is over priced, short walk to the beach but I rather use the pool next door. Location is ok , walking distance to the night life, cable car station and white palace which is not advisable .A visit to the famous Thanh Phat seafood restaurant is a must, they serve it fresh and is reasonable. Will visit V T again next year.

Royal treat at low price”
I was surprise to know such a great hotel to offer so low price (only on agoda), especially since they include breakfast. It has a nice room set up with clean bathtub in the bathroom. It also moderately decorated and everything seems to work just fine. It location just within 1 km walking distance from the Jetty and facing the beach drive also makes it a great place to be. All basic needs is within walking distance and you can also book massuer from the receptionist counter.

Royal Hotel”
From speaking with other travellers, this hotel was the best value for money. It was located at front beach (back beach is a little more popular) but we found this a bonus. The hotel itself is quite old but kept clean and tidy. The staff were friendly and always helpful. The pool that is advertised actually belongs to the Rex Hotel next door but we had free access to it as long as we took a voucher from Royal Hotel reception.

Location location location!”
I chose the Royal because of its waterfront location, proximity to restaurants and swimming pool next door. The staff turned out to be the biggest plus however - spoke good English, were always cheerful and helped out when I had a passport problem. I was upgraded to an ocean view room on arrival and was sorry I couldn't stay longer.

Location, Affordable price, Old Hotel”
I booked this hotel for one night during my business trip. The location is closed to both park and beach. Many coffee shops around the hotel. The hotel is quite old, but they clean them well. Only the fridge and bathtub are outdated, I think they were used more than 10 years. The complimentary bottles of water were a local band. The smell was like tap water. I could not drink it. However, their services were nice. Fast check-in and check-out. The breakfast was fine for 3 star hotel. Variety of foods; Vietnamese; Korean; and some western foods. The foods taste ok for me. All in all, the hotel is a good choice for 3 star hotel. By the way, the Agoda price is cheaper than the walk-in price. I booked one more day. The price was a bit more expensive.

Royal treat at reasonable rate”
The hotel is located right at the beach front along the beach drive street which only 15 minutes walk from the ferry jetty. It is surround by other nice hotel and other tourist relaxation spot. It has nice clean, cozy rooms with most facilities available in hotel. Two blocks behind the hotel is the town area where you can shop or browse around at the little local store.

Just average, nothing special.”
Housekeeping staff rather intrusive and nosy. Apparently the toothbrush cup in the bathroom went missing and they tried to charge me 500,000 dong for it. (US $25). Quite a struggle over that and ensured I will not be re visiting this hotel. Other than that not a bad hotel but similar hotels in Vung Tau are half the rate. On this occasion the Agoda rate was higher than the local desk rate.

Decent stay in an older hotel”
Location was great - right across the street form the beach. The staff were also friendly and helpful. The breakfast is mostly asian options, but they do have an egg station where you can get omelettes/fried eggs/etc. The hotel is outdated and feels old, which is why I do not think it can be considered a 3-star hotel. It does not look like anything has been updated in the last 10 years or so. It also has access to the pool at the Rex Hotel but right now that access is obstructed by a giant stage you have to climb across - kind of awkward. Although once we made it to the pool that was nice... just kind of weird to get there. Overall, not bad for $40 but I'd probably check out a different place next time.

Nice staff, comfortable room, great swimming pool”
It was a comfortable trip I have in Vungtau at Royal Hotel. However, the location of this hotel can help you to have good restaurant, nightlife, but if you want to go to the sea, you have to ride to back beach.

Room for improvement”
I stayed ta this Hotel for 5 nights, breakfast was included in the price of the room. I found the breakfast was very poor as I am a person that enjoys a fresh hot coffee in the morning with breakfast. The first morning there was hot coffee there but it was very strong and was not fresh, the second morning it looked like to me that they jus bought out the same pot of coffee from the morning before and put it on the heater. Same with the third and forth mornings. it is an Asian type breakfast and the cook was not that great with eggs. I will stay at this hotel again as the location is great and the front desk staff are great and all smiles.

A good little hotel”
Great stay for a long weekend, clean, good value for money and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Would definitely stay again. The hotel is a little old and some of the furniture is dated but it was very clean and the beds were super comfy!

Waterfront hotel in cafe society”
We made sure we asked for ocean view rooms with balcony. The room was big with high ceilings. The furniture is well dated and the toilet kept breaking but they fixed it straight away. I liked the wireless internet and the swimming pool that we could use was right next door a the more expensive hotel.. for the price I can recommend this hotel.

Location is OK”
Its near the front beach, location is OK and near the ferry station. The room is little bit old style. Overall is acceptable. The swiming pool is Rex Hotel, not Royal Hotel . Its not convenience to use every time becuase they only provide 1 ticket for 1 person. Please adjust the policy...... Breakfast is normal, all are simple fast food only..... Staff are nice and helpful.... Overall is OK, except Swiming pool.....

Great location and nice pool”
Rooms little bit dated but still OK. Can use swimming pool at adjoining Rex Hotel but in afternoon, when you probably are back from sight seeing and most want to use pool, it is taken over by children's swimming lessons. Located right on the beach road and great to walk along people watching in early morning or late afternoon.
