Nice Hotel, Quiet, Close to active area and BTS”

Big Rooms, Free Buffet Breakfast, Massage, Tailor, Travel agent, Friendly Staff

I traveled to Thailand for a Friends Wedding, Myself and a good friend of mine stayed at the Royal Ivory Hotel. At first going Down soi 4 nana at night can be a bit intimidating but The Royal Ivory is at the end when things are much more quiet, and new. There are many nice restaurants near by, The girls in the Massage / hair salon are Very nice and the foot massage is a must have after everyday walking all over the place. The Tailor has really good rates, and the Travel agent is fast and nice as well. the staff is very helpful and friendly, and the maids clean the rooms daily. The rooms are very big compared to many other places we looked at, but they are a little dark. The AC works great, and there is a pool on the 3rd floor however I did not use it. If you are looking for a nice affordable place to stay than I definitely recommend it. We had a friend stay down the road at the Boss Suites (2 blocks away) very nice yes, but the rooms was super small and they charged him for every little thing he used. The Royal Ivory is not quite mordern in design however most the time you are not in the room anyways, the beds are comfortable, and the AC, hot water, and internet work. Also there is always someone at the front desk available. Also if you are needing a hotel as a home base, while you travel around the islands here and there and then return to BKK then I definitely recommend the Royal Ivory.

Royal Ivory Value”

Large rooms, nice decor, friendly staff, good breakfast, comfortable king size bed, rooftop pool and hot tub.
None

Rooms are large size with king size comfortable bed. The showers is big enough for average North American size and had plenty of easily controlled hot water. The decor is done in very appealing hardwood with attractive thai carvings and latticework. It also had a nice kitchenette with microwave, compact refrigerator/freezer and coffee pot. The freezer kept my ice cream very good (frozen) temperature. The aircon worked perfectly. Staff were helpful and friendly. My 3rd floor room was quiet enough for sleep overlooking a garden set back from the street and the hotel is conveniently located. Contrary to other reviews, I found the free breakfast to be very good with an omelete made to order, good french toast, fresh fruit, chicken sausage, and perfectly cooked bacon. Although the distance to the BTS Nana station is a bit of a walk, the hotel provides a free tuk-tuk taxi to the station. The Royal Ivory was an excellent value when booked through Agoda. I will definitely stay at the Royal Ivory again.

Great value, large rooms, good location”

Large room and bath, Good location, Great breakfast

Have stayed at Royal Ivory several times, and I will agagin because they continue to please. The rooms are large compared to other reasonably priced hotels in Bangkok at 32 to 42 sq meters, with large bathrooms, too. The beds are comfortable large king size with high quality sheets and lovely Thai decor. It isn't new, but is well kept (and not needing any upgrading, unlike many others in this price range.) The free tuk-tuk gets you to the skytrain station without drama. Shopping along Sukhumvit has good bargains with a bit of haggling, and up scale shopping is only a couple train stops away. Adult nightlife is nearby, but the hotel is quiet, friendly, and safe. Breakfast included with the room included tasty western and Thai dishes, fresh fruit, and a fresh cooked omelet or eggs of your choice. Royal Ivory is an excellent value and highly recommended. (Do not expect it to be a 5-star like the Hyatt Erawan - RI is about 1/6 the price of the Hyatt - and you won't be disappointed.)

I will always stay at the Royal Ivory when I want to stay in Sukhumvit”

I first stayed at the Royal Ivory 5 years ago. It was my first trip to Bangkok and I didn't really know if it was comparable to other hotels. Since then I have stayed at other hotels in the area and was disappointed so I came back. It is close to everything but quiet at night. If you want to save money and have everything the Royal Ivory is for you. The foyer is a delight, the staff are efficient and friendly, the breakfast is excellent. While not sparkling new, the facilities are in good condition, everything functions as it should. The rooms are clean and BIG. Last but not least… the third floor outdoor pool is a delight. Only one thing could be improved for me… I would like the pool to be open til 9pm, not 6.30.

Royal Ivory Hotel”

Large room with kitchen, quiet location, good breakfast buffet
Walking through the mayhem of Soi Nana Tai to get to the hotel, reception not very obvious from the front of the hotel

The Royal Ivory is located at the bottom end of Soi Nana Tai which means that the area is very quiet for Bangkok. On the down side you have to negotiate the noise and chaos of the soi near the top end. The room was absolutely huge including a kitchen and generally very comfortable. In fact it could easily have been converted into a very nice one-bedroom apartment. The breakfast buffet is very good having a lot of selection and even a chef preparing eggs any way you like them. Overall, very good value and a pleasant place to stay.

Food: is always fresh with a nice selection of western and Thai and the waiters are always there if you have special request too. Price: I've checked around and always come back to the Royal Ivory because it's the best value for the area and it's a nice place compared to some other hotels around!

Royal Nana Ivory Hotel”

Good location - friendly staff - excellent rooms
Airport taxis based there are expensive

Sukhumvit is a very busy area of Bangkok - especially around Nana Plaza. This hotel is far enough away from Nana Hotel/Complex to be quiet but close enough to walk to the main shopping/nightlife areas. The reception area is very clean with several shops. The staff are excellent and the rooms are spacious, clean and all facilities are very good. There is a lovely little restaurant/bar near the reception area where you can watch the world go by. The staff are always on hand to help and nothing is too much trouble. It takes 5/10 minutes to get to the main Sukhumvit road and a further 5 mins to the excellent Soi's 5 & 7 for shops and restaurants. This place is highly recommneded

Royal Ivory Nana”

Staff is wonderful, rooms are cleaned on time and efficiently. Very near Nana Plaza and Nana BTS station. Guest friendly. Breakfast is adequate, nothing special, but decent.
Wi-Fi is very slow. Agonizingly slow. Massage area in lobby is nice but too expensive by compared to surrounding massage places closeby, which is why I never got a massage there even though the staff there was very nice.

The staff is very nice and was always receptive to my needs. I never got a massage at the massage place downstairs so I don't know how good they are but the staff was very nice. It's close by to all the stuff at Nana Plaza and a nice walk down to the Nana BTS station. The tuk-tuk drivers and cabbies are pushy but where are they not pushy in Bangkok? Rooms were always clean and they were very efficient and friendly about it. Main drawback is the wi-fi; if you need reliable fast wi-fi this isn't the place. But for an inexpensive hotel that is so close to the action on Sukhumvit this place can't be beat. Every other place nearby is more expensive. This is my second time here; I spent two weeks here and it was great basic accommodations. Another drawback is the cost of the cab service operating within the hotel. The cab drivers across the street are much cheaper, as is the massage place. There is a tailor on site. There is also an internet room downstairs but I don't know how fast the connection is.

Good experience at the Royal Ivory Hotel - Bangkok”

I like this hotel. It is far enough down Soi 2 that you can get a quiet night's sleep, yet close enough to Sukhumvit and the Nana Sky Train station that you can easily walk to where the action is. Although the first 5 blocks or so off Sukhumvit are lined with bars and lots of "girls" and massage parlors, there are also lots of street food vendors, a couple of 7-11 stores, restaurants and just street life, which to me is just so much of the fun of Bangkok. The hotel rooms are big, wood floors and they have a small kitchenette. The TV reception is good and has lots of channels. the air con is good and the staff is nice. We have stayed there twice and will stay again when we go back to Bangkok. The pool is small, but nice and is on the third floor.
The breakfast is mediocre and could be improved in terms of variety and taste. The coffe was dreadful the last time we were there in June 09, but they do provide coffee packets in the room and an electric water warmer so you can have coffee there. I did not like being quoted a ridiculously high price for a taxi ride to the airport by the hotel taxi counter because I knew the fair price, but I just went to the street and hired one of the taxis there.

We last stayed at the Royal Ivory in June 09. We enjoyed our stay there. The room was large and clean with a nice little kitchenette. The staff was very nice and accomodating. I liked the little pool on the third floor and spent a memorable time standing under the eave watching one of the most spectacular rainstorms I have ever seen in southeast Asia. The location is good. Not far from sukhumvit and Nana station, yet far enough down the soi for peace and quiet. Lots of activity as you near Sukhumvit including bars, girls and massage places, but also street food vendors with great food, a couple 7-11 stores, other restaurants and lots of activity. We like this hotel and will return.

Great location, friendly staff and good value”

Quiet hotel yet only a 5 minute walk to the nightlife of Soi 4

I have stayed at the Royal Ivory on numerous occasions. The staff is always friendly and professional and they always make me feel welcome. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with TV, a/c, room safe and free wireless. There is a very nice pool with a city view on the 3rd floor. The lobby area has businesses that offer transportation, a booking agent for travel, a tailor and a restaurant. My favorite is the Ploypapas Salon also located on the ground floor. The salon is owned and managed by Miss Ploy and they offer a variety of services including facials, hair styling, manicures & pedicures and massages. It is a very reasonably priced salon for men and women to be pampered for an hour or so.

I stayed at the Royal Ivory for 3 nights and would definitely stay there again. Conveniently located in the heart of the Sukhumvit area close to shopping malls and nightlife. It is also down the street from the Nana Entertainment Plaza which is a pro or con depending on what your preferences are. If you are a single traveler looking for some fun this hotel is ideally located. If you would rather not be exposed to the red light districts of Bangkok I would recommend that you stay somewhere else.

Location, breakfast

quite a big hotel. paid 27 euros/night. good breakfast. good location in the red light district. far enough up the side road nana4 to be quiet. the bars being at the other end of the street about 300 meters away. near to nana skytrain. easy walk to the hotel pulling a suitcase. easily accessible from airport by train and then skytrain. the nana ibis is better if you can get a room for 18 euros/night but royal ivory has a good buffet breakfast, bacon and eggs, cornflakes etc included in the price. the rooms are big, a little dated but quite cosy and comfortable with free wifi in the room.

Royal Ivory Nana Resort & Hotel”

Good location,lovely accomodation,good facilities,friendly/helpful staff/rooms very clean
The taxi to the airport was pricey @ 800 baht

In the hustle and bustle of Sukhumvit Soi 4 it was a pleasure to discover a clean friendly hotel with very fine rooms/facilities. The hotel has shops/salon a pool table, a good bar and fine restaurant - the wine list is very good. It is only a short walk to the crazy Nana Plaza/Sukhumvit main road but sufficiently far enough away to provide peace and quiet from the noisy bars/clubs nearby. The rooms are spacious and the shower/bathroom area very good; beds are very large and comfortable. The staff are helpful and offer a fine range of knowledge/service of the local area as well as being able to provide tours around Bangkok and nearby places of interest. The breakfast, whilst standard is OK and the general food menu provides a good mix of Thai/foreign foods. I will certainly look to stay in this good hotel again and would recommend it to most travellers as it combines reasonable rates/peace and quiet and good service.

Lovely hotel and in a good location”

Big rooms, Big bed, wallsafe, nice breakfast, good location for nightlife, quiet

There are several hotels in the same road just off from where the nightlife is. The Royal Ivory was the better deal. Friendly staff, great buffet breakfast and large rooms are some of the plus points. Also the fact that it is in a quiet location just along from the bars and restaurants. Two negatives, the aircon was a bit noisy at times. But if you are tired, you can still get to sleep. And the shower area, altho quite serviceable, was a little old. Otherwise a good place and good value.

Having stayed many times down on Soi Nana, I found the Royal Ivory to be a much higher standard in room size, cleanliness and food quality. Plus it is far enough down the Soi from the bars that it is fairly quiet at night. The service was very efficient and friendly, especially the bell boys. The breakfast is big, and they make eggs for you fresh on the spot.

Staying in Nana”

I like staying here at Royal Ivory because it is away from the hustle and bustle of everything. You can walk in about 5 minutes to everything Nana has to offer or take a Tuk Tuk in about 2. It is quiet though and that is one thing I enjoy. When I am ready to sleep "which is very little here" there is very little to no noise at all. Great hotel for the money.
