          A great local hotel!”

          - The breakfast buffet had a lot of options and was very good! - It had a wonderful local feel. - Clean, comfortable rooms with a great view from the balcony. - Staff was very helpful!

I thought this was a wonderful place to stay. I was slightly wary after reading other reviews about how it was out of the way and that the breakfast was bad, but I did not find that to be the case at all! Chiang Mai is small enough that is quite easy to navigate around the city and get wherever you need to go. I rented a motorbike and I also walked around and had no problems getting around. I also had spa and tour appaointments and all of them recognize Royal Peninsula as a common pick-up hotel as well. If you're looking for a great hotel with a great price and a wonderful local feel, stay here! I know I will when I return to Chiang Mai!

Great value for the price ”

The breakfast has a great variety of Thai food, and it's really quite good if you're ok with savory rice dishes for breakfast. If you're not, then you might be a little disappointed in the western breakfast selection, but hey, you're in Thailand! Our room was clean, the staff was great, there's a kettle and fridge in the room and a balcony, and it's right outside the old city square- I have no complaints. We actually decided to stay a couple of extra days in Chiang Mai, but they were fully booked with a wedding party so we had to move hotels- we ended up booking at a cheaper (by a few bucks) place, and it was awful. So we were extra grateful for how nice the royal peninsula was for the price.

          great staff
          room had seen better days

the royal peninsula hotel has aspirations for great things, however the property appears a little past its best. having said that the staff are excellent, friendly and with a good command of english. location is easy to find and convient for the old city walls. there are probably bigger and better hotels in chaing mai, however for the price and level of service, the royal peninsula represents excellent value for money.

          its a bit tired

same as my last stay really, the royal peninsula hotel is a little shabby round the corners but makes up for it with friendly helpfull staff. the standard of service and food is excellent and well exceeds the first impression. for a single night whilst travelling through chaing mai i would'nt hesitate in recommending the peninsular, especially as its great value for money.

Good stay for the price, breakfast passable, terrible WIFI”

The Wi-Fi was terrible and continuously dropped out in our room. Even standing under the modems on 2nd and 3rd floor, it worked better but kept dropping out and the staff seemed aware of it but had nothing to say that could help us. As we didn't want to use data but we were planning and researching our trip, we ended up using our data anyway because the Wi-Fi was so terrible. Otherwise nice staff, parking, great convenient location right next to a 'Chiang Mai university girl begs for tips' bar, shabu shabu, buffet, and 7/11. Its pretty easy if you want to walk to old city centre with Wat Chedi Luang and the 3 kings monument and take in eateries or massage on the way back. Easy to access buses, taxis and tuktuks around the corner on the tourist loop. The hotel bar and restaurant really goes off at night, with Thais dancing and drinking even on a Monday and quite excessive noise. Luckily we were on the 3rd floor but you really wouldn't want to stay on the 1st floor if you have young children or have trouble sleeping. The air conditioner also seemed to play up and made a lot of noise on the balcony. We took their airport shuttle and it was 200THB for two of us and baby. Overall not too bad and the clean room with marble looking benchtops, satellite TV and hot shower made up for the other issues, considering the price. Would be happy to stay again when in CM but also may try something else.

The hotel is much better than the ratings I read ”

Good location, nice size rooms, lots of cable channels, very helpful and friendly staff

I was a little apprehensive about this hotel as the ratings were just marginal. My checkin was quick and easy. I gave the girl my passport and checked in. I booked a queen room but she nicely explained that they were all booked up and asked if I would take a room with twin beds. The room size was the same and the twin bed was comfortable so I wound up keeping the room for the whole 6 day stay. Room has a nice flat screen tv with maybe 90 or more channels. Desk with a little chair, ample storage space for clothes, a fridge, a safe, and a hair dyer. Water was hot for the shower and some basic toiletries are provided. 2 bottles of water are provided daily. Plenty of electrical plugs as well. Overall my stay was very pleasant and the room is cleaned daily. Hard to call it a 4 star hotel but maybe a 3.5 It's within walking distance to the old city - only about 10 minutes - and there are usually taxis outside. Parking for cars and motorcycles underneath the hotel. There's a 7-11 close by. Free wifi but like many Asian hotels it doesn't always work so well. Overall I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel - especially with Agoda's low price. Chiangmai is a great place and when I return I will stay here again.

good location and nice pool but wifi sucks”

The location is not the very best but you can still reach the heart of Chiang Mai by foot (15-20 min) or grab a taxi. The room was very big and nice it had everything you need. The breakfast was good and average to other hotels (same price class). I really enjoyed the pool but the Wifi was the worst! I had to reconnect the whole time and it didn't really work. There are close coffeeshops, restaurants and massage studios around the hotel. The hotel restaurant was pretty good and cheap but there was a very loud Karaoke show every night from around 7pm to 10:30pm. All in all I really enjoyed my stay!

Friendly staff and guards, clean & comfortable rooms and nice pool area.

We have stayed in this hotel at least 10 different times over the past 3 years. We have stayed many other places in Chiang Mai and have not found anything comparable for the same price. It is a great budget priced hotel. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet is good with both Western & Thai choices. Pool is nice and clean. It is not right in the middle of things but not far away from anything you need. Cold air con.

          Price-Value-Location Hint”

Always stay there wen coming to Chiang Mai - price-value great, rooms big and clean, service people friendly, in walking distance through city center, mugata restaurant across street, shop (second hand) right next to hotel, close to highway - some facilities little old and maybe need some improvement, but still valuable

Comfortable Stay 200m From City Wall”

Breakfast was about the same every morning. Shower water pressure was very low. All staffs are very friendly. Room aircond was working well Room fridge was working well. TV has quite a few overseas channel. Walkable distance ( about 200m) to City Wall. Located slightly further from the City Wall than other hotels so it is quieter. Restaurants and street foods within walking distance of 100m to 1000m. City bus stops 300m to 700m away. It is easy and relatively cheap to use Grab in Chiangmai City . We visit Chiangmai once a year. But this is the first time we stayed at the North Side of the Wall. We had stayed on the South side of the Wall for all previous visits. We were happy to have a change this time.

          Choose Your Room Carefully.”

          Immaculately clean

Booked the studio which advertises two rooms totaling 64sqm. When I got there, the rooms were so small I actually measured them - two dark, tiny 18sqm rooms (tombs!). Nothing like the photos on Agoda. After some vociferous complaint I was moved to a Superior Room, which was about 45sqm, and which was bright and pleasant. DON'T GET THE STUDIO ROOMS! This hotel was remarkably clean, and the linens were crisp and mildly scented each day. The rooms had good amenities and the breakfast was fine and fresh. The swimming pool, though small, was also very clean and very refreshing after the Chiang Mai heat. The location is just a bit far from the city center and the night market, necessitating tuk-tuks or longish walks.

Courteous staff, clean restaurant, great shower”

The Royal Peninsula Hotel is a nice place to stay. The courteous staff gave us an upgrade since they had run out of double beds. We had no problem borrowing a wine opener or getting more batteries for our remote. The staff are helpful The food was decent enough at the restaurant, but for 119 baht it could be a little tastier. The room was clean and the hotel is located close enough to Tha Phae Gate to be convenient and far enough to be quiet.

          Very nice hotel”

Very nice people. The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool, gym, restaurant, ac in the room as well as underground parking. Its location is about 4 kilometers from the airport and situated pretty much in the center of downtown Chiang Mai. Making it easy access for whatever you may need.

          Staff,Buffet,Location

It is obvious that there is new spirit from 1 year ago when I stayed. Everybody smiles and is helpful. I always stay here when I come to chiang mai. Since my girlfriend has a car I do not want to deal with traffic in Old City. This is short walk from old city[10 -15 minutes] and parking is easy. Good Place!!!
