I read some negative reviews on a rival website which turned out to be completely unfounded.”
All food & service outlets were fully staffed by friendly, attentive people at all times. Breakfast was excellent with a wide range of Asian & western food available. Drinks were reasonably priced & I, along with many other guests, hose to spend the evenings at the resort. Rooms were comfortable and clean with tasteful decor. As a resident of Thailand, I was pleased & proud to have been able to host my visiting family so specially. Thank you Royal River Kwai Resort & Spa..
Very good swimmingpool”
The hotel is really nice, it is just at the river Kwai. The restaurant had a super view to the river. The swimmingpool is huge and warm. The staff was kind, but they was not able give me a map of Kanchanaburi. I guess it should not be a problem in a hotel. The room was nice, like on the pictures. The only negative regarding the room was a shower. We could shower only with very cold oder with hot water, there was not middleway. The breakfast is delicious with great selection. We tried the restaurant for dinner also, the food was good, but the portion was a little.
Excellent retreat”
This is a wonderful hotel on the River Kwai. The gardens were immaculate, the room clean and comfortable, and the dinner generous and delicious. The spa was a wonderful treat before dinner. This is an excellent hotel for exploring Kanchanaburi, or just a quite retreat from the city. It is outside the city center, so a car is recommended.
Excellent laid back resort - recommended”
The rooms were large and comfortable. A bit old but well maintained. The property is beautiful. Nice view of the River Kwai and great dinner location. Kids enjoyed the pool. Breakfast had a wide spread - lots of options, and good quality. Staff was courteous and helpful. The resort is outside the main Kanchanaburi town. So book if you'd have your own transport. But if you do, it's a superb choice and you won't regret coming here.
Great Hotel”
Our stay at the Royal River Kwai Resort & Spa was very pleasant. The staff was friendly and helpful. the room was spacious and clean. The breakfast was very good. We recommend this hotel highly.
fantastic hotel”
Had a great stay at the royal river kwai resort. The rooms were excellent, grounds beautiful and right in the river kwai. A little bit out of town but if your looking for a bit bit of peace and quiet this is for you. And it's only 15 minute cab ride into town. Would definitely stay again
10/10 ”
Good location, easy to find. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was also good. Good view, good for relaxation. The only one comment is the heater in the bathroom was not hot, should fix it. I will stay here again for the next trip to kanchanaburi. 10/10 for Royal Riverkhwai Resort&SPa. Cheers :-)
Nice place for relaxing”
I recommend Royal River Kwai resort to you who find a nice place for relaxing with friendly take care. Room & surrounding are well organize. No bad smell in the room. Abundant breakfast both Thai style & Western style. Large & very clean pool. Only wifi signal is not stable.
Lovely peaceful hotel with luscious surroundings”
Had a lovely 2 nights at this hotel. Surroundings are beautiful, with well-kept gardens, and generally has a nice feel to it. We stayed in a twin room, which was large and had a nice balcony. Powerful hot shower and a few drinks available in the mini bar, that were not too pricey. No safe in the room. We ate in the restaurant one evening, which was delicious and again reasonably priced. Location of the hotel is about 20mins from the night market area, less to get to the Bridge over the River Kwai. It's on the same road as the Hellfire pass, but still a good hour's drive away. We booked a taxi/song tiaw (through the hotel reception) to go into the town for the evening, and only had to wait about 20mins. Staff in the hotel helpful. Breakfast had the usual eggs, bacon, fruit, yoghurt and some Thai dishes. Comfy sunbeds with towels by the pool, and a little mattress on the beds Close to the river and lovely and quiet. Overall, a great stay!
Peaceful and cozy resort by the placid river”
The hotel is not difficult to find, and there is ample parking for guests. Hotel concierge and reception are quick and cheerful. The rooms and surroundings are clean-- you can actually walk around the hotel grounds barefoot! The resort is right on the banks of a placid river and the grounds are well-kept. We got a standard room furnished with turn of the century Thai style solid wood furniture which some might think look like the setting for a horror movie, but I thought it was quaint and added to the ambience. There is hot water with good pressure for the shower, basic amenities, a safety box and a small fridge with complimentary water. The pool is clean and long enough to do laps in (25 m). There are eating decks along the riverside where we had a wonderful Thai dinner. Breakfast was good with an egg station, bread station, choices of cereal, Asian food, juices and hot drinks. It's a pity we only stayed for just one night. Next time we visit Kanchanaburi we will stay there for sure.
Nice and relaxing hotel”
The hotel is closed to the city of Kanchanaburi and it is convenient to find tourist attractions and places to eat. The hotel and the room are clean and spacious. The staff is nice and smile all the times. The swimming pool is perfect and you should not miss it. We have wide variety of breakfast buffet. The only disadvantage is that the loud nice at night from the opposite site of the river at night until 11pm.
Excellent hotel to Relax & Explore Kanchanaburi ”
It was a wonderful time to enjoy at Royal Kwai Resort. Resort was nice & well maintained. Pool was very good. Rooms were clean & bigger. Room service was okay but services at breakfast/ restaurant was nice. As we are VEGETERIAN- they gave us - fresh salads/breads/Thousand island spread... We ate sandwiches, fruits, milk/cornflakes & much more. Lack of availability of tea/coffee maker in the room, overall it is a nice resort.
It's worth every penny.”
It was a really nice stay. Actually, I moved to this one and I'd found that Royal River Kwai was way better than . If anyone needs a place to stay that worth every cent, this resort should be your choice. It was a perfect hideaway.
Beautiful grounds, nice breakfast, 10 minutes from town”
We stayed here for 4 days, it is very peaceful (a little highway traffic noise even though it is set back from the road.) The rooms are simple but the grounds and pool are beautiful. The pool is huge and a great place to relax after a day of sightseeing or hiking. The breakfast is great and a nice variety to fit everyones needs. We did not eat lunch or dinner here, but they have a very nice patio right on the river. The resort is about a 10 minute drive from town, they do have a free one way shuttle service available 2 times a day, or you can request a ride an hour in advance. We had a car so did not need to use it. You really do not need to leave the resort if you are happy to eat there. There is also a spa that is nice and over looks the river. Thai massages and foot massages range from 600-800baht. We were happy with our stay here.
Relaxing stay in the middle of Kanchanaburi”
Really nice hotel along the river. The hotel is surrounded by beautiful gardens, making it a complete getaway from the city center. The rooms are spacious and the staff very friendly. Highly recommend this hotel if you're staying in the kanchanaburi area.
Great place to stay”
Nice and peaceful place next to the Kwai River. Staff are very polite and supportive. The room is clean with relaxing and large terrace. Facilities are variety and well taken care of e.g. swimming pool, table tennis. Foods are fresh and very delicious not only for dine in but also for the inclusive breakfast. Car parking space are available. This place made me and my family very happy. All in all, this is a good place for relaxation and fueling up your energy. It is suitable for all from a group of friends, a couple, or families. A true 5+ Stars resort!!
Dear Khun Peeradech, Thank you for you review us, we are pleasure that your impression while you staying at Royal Riverkwai Resort & Spa.We hope to to welcome you and family again in nearly future Best Regards, Royal Riverkwai Team
very relaxing hotel surrounded by beautiful nature”
The best part for me was the very clean, very nice 25 meter swimming pool, especially important as the temperature in Kanchanaburi was about 6 degrees Celcius hotter than Bangkok during Songkran! The food was very good and reasonably priced too. The gardens are very well tended to, very beautiful. The river view is also very nice. Slightly negative side: the Internet requires an annoying username and password signup and you have to get a new password every day, and it doesn't work everywhere (weak in the bedroom). The beds are very hard (and we live in Thailand - so we are accustomed to hard beds..). The breakfast does not include coffee, and the coffee we ordered was not very good (don't bother). I would rather pay a tiny bit more and get real juice, good coffee, etc.. But since they cater mostly to Thai people, that's understandable. There is nothing near the hotel (about 12K to the city), which is both good and bad. Only a corner shop and a major road within walking distance, so either bring your own car or rent a scooter (500 bhat per day) so you can see places (Erawan, etc). We will probably come back.
lovely hotel”
we are been here several times and we are always satisfied about the hotel, the staff is very friendly, the rooms are good ,clean with river vieuw. the morning buffet is great. the swimming pool in the garden is great, even super. there are a lot of nice excursions not far from the hotel, the hell fire pass, the river kwai bridge, the tiger temple the erewan waterfalls etc... it is certainly worth to stay here 3 or 4 days.
Beautiful garden and a nice pool on the River Kwai”
We very enjoy our stay ar the hotel. Offering many package for the sight seeing. Breakfast very delicious with a large choices. Very quiet place and relaxing place with their swimming pool and Spa. Outside of the Kanchanabury city around 12 km.
Exceptional”
Great location by the river with a nice peaceful ambiance set in a tropical garden setting. Cuisine was fantastic with a wide variety on the menu. I have marked this place as my near city accommodation for whenever visiting Kanchanaburi, as it's only 5-6 kms away from the main town.
