Cheap and cheerful
Arrived at the hotel which looked like a bomb site as the minor reservations were, in fact major. Rooms were OK, but a bit shabby. The most positive thing were the staff who were very friendly and helpful. We quite enjoyed the breakfast too.

Nice to stay in White Elephant Hotel
The location is good to go everywhere in Yangon. As everybody knew that Yangon has acute traffic jam. It is better to find place close to some tourism places.

Sadly worse each visit
Better since the carpets have been removed. Still got leaks from the bathroom above. The housekeeping staff always leave the lights on and must leave the doors open during cleaning so the rooms fill up with mosquitoes every day. Had a cold shower this time. Much mid the place is in need of modernising, not sure it's going to get better though as they seem to be extending forwards. Rooms are odd shapes, painted stark white with bully furniture sticking out at odd angles. The interior needs a bit more thought. And te breakfast needs a bit less oil.

Nice staff & price but the place is falling apart.
Poor water pressure throughout the day. Can't regulate the temperature, so it's just super hot. Can't wash full body. Room and bathroom walls are dirty. Only gives 1 towel in a room. Morning breakfast was boring with overcooked main course in a heavy sauce. Construction work going on in the front, so you hear a lot of hammering until 6:00 pm when they stop. The picture on your website is incorrectt as the front of the hotel no longer is exposed and there is no more carpark. They are building a few new floors on it.

Not a bad place to stay
Room size, friendly staff, comfortable bed
I have stayed here before due to price and close to my work. It is ok. This time, for 5 nights, but after the first night I was told I had to change rooms. It was not explained why. The new room was bigger and a bit nicer. The first room was ok, though the aircon was only moderately effective and the shower tap bracket on the wall was broken so I had to hold the shower hose. In the new room, which seems to have new tiling and painting, the basin the bathroom leaked at the base so a stream of water ran over the floor. But the aircon was very good. This room did not have a desk. The chest of drawers was the closest but you could sit at it, so that was not so good. But it was quiet and I slept well. Breakfast was the usuaL: Asian food, only semi-warm in serving trays, tea/coffee, fruit, toast and jam. It was quite adequate, buffet style. Staff are friendly, I was able to check out late, at 1.30. The main thing is significant, 8 storey building works in front of the hotel so you have to enter by the side on a makeshift wooden step, not easy I think carrying luggage and for older people. But the staff are quick to carry cases so no real complaint and the work was never noisy.

Stayed here many times before, however......
When I arrived at the hotel it was under major renovation. The phones did not work, which made it very difficult for me to make arrangements to meet friends and conduct business. The hot water was not working in my room. The AC was not functioning in a manor that it could completely cool the room. The WIFI routers are placed at one end of the building making it impossible for the other end of the building to obtain reception. I had to sit in the hallway in order to do my work on the Internet. I could have managed with all that, however, when I contacted the front desk to cancel my second stay, (I would be returning in 7 days) they would not let me cancel. Furthermore, when I spoke to Agoda support, they would not negotiate with the hotel because "they acquiesce to hotel policy". I will NOT stay here again!
