A value for money hotel - great location”
I visit Yangon almost every month. In past I stayed in various hotels but in my opinion Royal White Elephant is the best among any other budget hotel. The room was big but cleaned. Staffs were attentive. The best part of this hotel was it proximity to Inya lake - one of the most beautiful place in Yangon. Internet speed was good which enabled me to speak to my family through skype.

Friendly hotel with lovely staff”
We had read some unfavourable reviews so went in with an open mind. Remembering that Myanmar is a developing country we found the Royal White Elephant to be a haven to return to each night. The room was big with good sized windows and the breakfast was fine. We were in asia so we expected an asian breakfast and wasn't disappointed with the options. The internet was sporadic but what we expected. The air con was great. We managed the mosquito problem in the room by keeping the bathroom door shut. Our furniture was aged but we expected that. I did go and buy a pillow at the markets as I found their's too hard - easily fixed. The trip into town each day was easy with taxi's. remember to take a hotel card with you to show the return taxi driver. I will definitely stay again and enjoy the friendly staff. WE ate dinner there every night too. Often we were the only people in the dining room which surprised us as it was greatfood.

value for money - business travellers”
This was my 4th trip to Royal White Elephant Hotel. It is very much convenient for me from my business point of view. Only I would suggest the hotel management to provide some more amenities which is essential for business travelers viz., cloth ironing system, shoe shines, good quality of toiletries etc. Anyway, it is absolutely value for money kind of hotel.

Exceptional”
The hotel is worth the price. The location is very strategic to the Yangon University. And most interesting was it very close to the Inya Lake. The lake is very beautiful. We were lucky because our first night was welcomed by beautiful full moonlight by the lake. It was completely incredible. I will never forget such amazing scenery. This hotel is highly recommended due to its price worth and location too. Many inconvenient stores at the street and places to eat. The hotel staffs were so helpful. though during our visit, the hotel is still under construction, but that won't bother me, in fact I felt comfortable. In the morning we walked by foot to the Yangon University and most interesting part was experiencing the morning breeze. It was awesome.

Nice Location with excellent service”
During the Busy time, we find this hotel, and the price is reasonable compared to the others. The location was good too. So we booked a room for 5days despite mixed reviews. The booking comes with Airport Transport. When we are in the Airport, there was no taxi! Called hotel the reception explained that due to heave traffic the taxi couldn’t reach (American President Visit maybe) but asked us to take taxi to the hotel and they paid the fare. So it’s all good. The Staff in all level is provide us very good service, the whole week they keep our room very clean, changed sheets and towels every day. It was a very pleasant stay and totally enjoyed the trip in Yangon. We strongly recommend this hotel. Reasonable price, nice location and friendly staff what else you want. I am really glad that I booked this hotel.

Pleaseantly Surprised”
The Royal White Elephant is an older hotel, but the rooms are large, comfortable and clean, and everything worked fine. The hotel is about 15 minutes by taxi from the city, and I paid Kyat 5.000 one way, and Kyat 3.500 return (different taxi). The dining room was busy for breakfast, and I thought the choices offered were fine.

Calm hotel in Yangon”
This hotel is not far from the airport, near the lake and have good location for business traveller. The hotel is clean and far away from any outside noises. Have pleasant staff and nearby the main road. If you are for business and need hotel near airport, but close to the city centre it is good choice. Also this hotel is not expensive as more other hotels in Yangon.

Good value and good location”
With hotel prices rising rapidly, this hotel does offer exceptional value. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Limited English TV. CNN mose of the time and the occaisonal movie not in Thai, Chinese or Burmese! Very good Asian breakfast. Euoprean breakfast OK too.

Comfortable stay in good location”
I stayed at the hotel during a recent business trip. The location and low cost in an otherwise very expensive city led me to book the room at the ROyal White Elephant. I stayed in the superior room which was slightly more spacious than the standard rooms and it had a flatscreen TV. No CNN was a shame instead they show CCTV from China. It feels like a very Chinese Hotel generally. If you dont mind a downgrade on comfort and looks for a relatively cheap price then this hotel may be for you.

OK value for the price”
not a fancy hotel by any means, but situated in a nice area of yangon, about half-way between airport and downtown, right near inya lake. don't expect fancy rooms for this price, but breakfast is ok, hotel is quiet and hassle-free. in other cities you get much better value for this price, but this is the new myanmar with hardly any hotel rooms. would go there again, even wi-fi was working.

Good location, Decent room”
I stayed earlier at a different hotel and White Elephant was fine. It's not the Ritz, but we got a clean room and everything worked. What I liked was that it was only a few minutes from Imle Lake and that was a nice walk, and there were some good restaurants and a real coffee shop there. If you walk in the other direction, there's a working class neighborhood with a lively outdoor market. Down the road by the Mosque are a number of fine outdoor food stalls. All in all, I thought the location was better than the others by "Chinatown" or the Scott Market. More of a lively area.

Basic but cheap. Rude front desk girls. Lousy Wifi”
For the price you can't complain. My only two complaints are: 1) Front Desk girls are rude. They need training in Customer Service. If they smiled their faces would crack. 2) WiFi is conjested, but I noticed that is a common complaint in Yangon hotels, so maybe they are not so bad. That said, the hotel does have a huge Caterpillar gen set parked outside. That's comforting if there is a power cut. The showers are not fancy, but each room has a water tank and heater, so rest assured you can hose yourself off in the morning.

quite old...”
The Royal White Elephant Hotel is quite central between Yangon downtown and the airport. Therefore its a good starting point to travel by taxi to all the sightseeing spots around. The internet is not very stable and very slowly. The rooms were kind of clean, but the bathroom and all the furniture already quite outdated. A Superior room has only one advantage to a standard room, which is a window to the streetside. I think that doesn't really count as a advantage as the view is not spectacular at all. The breakfast was quite Chinese/traditional.

Just for the business, and calm time”
It was good as usual. I was in the meeting with some clients in Yangon, everyone knows White elephant hotel, so that it was so easy for me to meet the people through the appointment just in front o the hotel.

Good value for money”
The White Elephant hotel is a no frills hotel so quite good value for money as other hotels are rather expensive, The buffet breakfast is also a no frills breakfast and you will probably just have the egg and toast in a morning, The staff are very helpful no matter what your needs are. The room was big as well as the bathroom but the shower was not very good. It could do with a slight makeover. Overall though I enjoyed my stay and I would use the same hotel again.

Not a bad place to stay”
I have stayed here before due to price and close to my work. It is ok. This time, for 5 nights, but after the first night I was told I had to change rooms. It was not explained why. The new room was bigger and a bit nicer. The first room was ok, though the aircon was only moderately effective and the shower tap bracket on the wall was broken so I had to hold the shower hose. In the new room, which seems to have new tiling and painting, the basin the bathroom leaked at the base so a stream of water ran over the floor. But the aircon was very good. This room did not have a desk. The chest of drawers was the closest but you could sit at it, so that was not so good. But it was quiet and I slept well. Breakfast was the usuaL: Asian food, only semi-warm in serving trays, tea/coffee, fruit, toast and jam. It was quite adequate, buffet style. Staff are friendly, I was able to check out late, at 1.30. The main thing is significant, 8 storey building works in front of the hotel so you have to enter by the side on a makeshift wooden step, not easy I think carrying luggage and for older people. But the staff are quick to carry cases so no real complaint and the work was never noisy.

Great Staff, Good for Layover Night”
simply a transit night so it was well located halfway to town from the airport. one owner has three hotels, we stayed in downtown at another. all good. this hotel is well kept and has a number of restaurants nearby. you would not stay here if you want to actually tour yangon, too far away. this place is just fine for the money and the staff are excellent.
