Good hotel with lots of working amenities, faulted only by its tired appearance ”
For a 3 star hotel out experience were as expected. The staff were friendly but could have been friendlier. The bar had a good range of drinks, the breakfast was standard but good. The bed was ok and the shower hot. The leisure centre was good and the jacuzzi, sauna were good. Only slight flaw was the swimming pool felt too cold.
An excellent place to stay”
Super place to stay, Also a Bonus for me was I had my Dog Shadow with me, Also I had my room upgraded allowing me extra room for me and my Shadow. Room was spacious, After one complaint to Reception about LOUD music it was sorted and I had an Excellent Sleep. Reception Staff where very helpful and Friendly carry on with the Good work Ladies.
Very good value tvthis time of year. Pleasant hotel, if a little dated. ”
Great location, easy to find, with good parking facilities. Food choices quite good, and my single room was spacious and pleasant. The hotel is large, and I was in a separate wing, so there was quite a bit of walking involved (outside but under cover) and the hotel needs updating and some redecoration.
Very nice hotel. ”
Had a great time and enjoyed our short break at this hotel. The staff were pleasent and friendly. The breakfast was tasty and had plenty of choice. We had a lovely view of the hills from our hotel window. The hotel is situated a short walking distance from the main town center.
Good Overmoght Stay”
Travelling from the North and arrived at 12 lunchtime. Informed check in was 3pm so had lunch and drove into Fort William town about 5 minute drive away. Back late afternoon collected room keys for room 403. Double Classic Room situated outside of the main building. Clean comfortable with everything we would wish. Facing the very busy main road but very tired so not a problem. Had dinner again in the bar which was very good. A very big plate which I couldn't finish and a lovely Apple Tart and pouring cream. Hubby's favourite. Took remains of the bottle of house wine we purchased with dinner to our room as we were exhausted. Very comfortable bed. Slept soundly. Would recommend this hotel.
Lazy reception staff ”
Arrived at 2.30 pm and been told to seat and wait cos they will call house keeper to check when the room is going to be ready although been told that usually check in is before 3 pm. Was seating till 3.40 without any updates on my room, 3 lazy womans over the reception desk and all they were doing is make up and gossip people. No explanation, no updates, no apologies from any of them. Bathroom, full of human hair everywhere, absolutely disgusting. Cattle dirty so no tea could be made. Pool ok, busy with locals in peak times. Steam room and heavy full of fat breakfast is a big plus. Location not central, even groceries shop is 30 min walk, unless you got a car then it's fine. Would stay again but will. Check out the room first before unpack my bag for stain on towels and hair in a bathroom. Lazy staff at reception desk rude and loud,
Stayed in the hotel just for one night, I believe its a great place to stay even couple of days more, there is sauna, gym, swimming pool to relax and great breakfast. Staff was nice, cleanliness needs improvement, more attention to details.
Friendly hotel with excellent food”
Stayed here for two nights this week and really enjoyed it. Have stayed before and the food was ok but now I would say it is excellent. Good choice with a menu which changes every day and very good value for a 3 course meal.
The leisure facilities were good although the pool was no where near the advertised temperature The breakfast was good and plenty of selection The staff were all great The room was very dated with single glazing and traffic noise was an issue. You could hear every step of other customers as they made their way through the building and in their rooms. The shower was hazardous, going from freezing to scalding. In general the hotel badly requires its update programme completed asap.
couple above us were noticeably drunk and disorderly when spotted returning to hotel after night out in fort William. although nothing was said to them they continued with loud and unsociable behaviour until the night porter spoke with them after 3am, where he had to wait outside the bedroom till they quietened down
Indifferent front office staff, Old sunk-in beds.”
Check-in & Check out took forever as dour staff were chatting away on phone disregarding guests waiting in front of them. There was no phone in the room & still none installed when we inquired twice. The only nice staffer was the maintenance guy who came to check and actually smiled. Bed was old & sunk in the middle. You could feel the springs all over which sunk in from wear and should have been replaced. The room service food was acceptable and the only saving grace was the swimming pool and steam/sauna room facilities.
Directly on a Mainstreet, small and full with travel groups”
Small bathroom, very old school, breakfast without any fruits or fruit-salad, plates, toast e.c. were missing because of a lot of people in the travel groups. American Style of a old furnitured hotel
The Hotel was a little dated, however its cleanliness and welcoming staff more than made up for it. ”
We ate in the bar and the food was amazing. Breakfast was delicious, although it was cleared away very early for a sat morning , 0930am
Request to stay in main hotel”
This was our second visit to this hotel. The first time we stayed our room was in the main hotel - it was dated and could do with an update - but it was clean. This time our room was in the annex - the whole building is very shabby and our room was of very poor standard. The bathroom could have been cleaner and the some of the pillow cases were dirty (I believe from makeup stains) - also the bed was lumpy and so uncomfortable. On the plus side - the breakfast was lovely and the pool area is very nice which is the hotels saving grace.
The room was clean & comfortable. & the staff were very helpful.”
The cooked breakfast was dried up after obviously standing, but no one checked it wen the later diners came. The exterior to the building needs freshened up the pool staff did not encourage the removal of outdoor shoes to spite this being on their pool etiquette list .
Good Value ”
Good value , room very nice , big and nice bathroom . Rest of hotel a bit scruffy - fire doors need renewing - scratched Formica tables in dining area would be so much better with a table cloth - not much effort required for a big improvement
Didn't have a choice”
Booked the night before we travelled and this was the only place I could find with a vacancy. What we thought was a fair walking distance from town seemed much further in reality. Clean rooms but need bringing into the 21st century. Bed had a broken spring. Only stayed two nights thankfully.
Breakfast and location are ok... That’s about it.”
No lift!! When travelling with my elderly Nan I didn’t expect to be on the top floor, with no lift. No offer was made to help us carry our bags and it took several trips. Breakfast was nice, it was warm and there was loads of choice. Dinner was cold, the staff didn’t seem very organised or attentive. The hotel had a great selection of gins, except they didn’t have any. The room was ok, but very warm.
Hotel is situated within walking distance to Fort William you need the car if you are visiting the mountains. In comparison to other hotels we stayed in this week, this was very disappointing. The room was small dark and dingy, situated above the kitchen with the unwelcome smell of food at certain times of the day. The television didn't work and one of the plug sockets was broken! The bathroom had no ventilation turning into a mini sauna after a shower. We went out for the day and returned to find the cleaner had left the window wide open leaving our property at risk. The staff on reception had little knowledge of the area and were unable to help on both occasions we asked for direction, and the hot food at the buffet style breakfast was luke warm on the two days we ate there. . If this had been a budget hotel we wouldn't have minded but for the price they charged we were not impressed.
Happened to be there when StTrinians seemed to be there. Several dozen school teenagers kept us awake with constant giggling , door banging and walking across very squeaky floorboards above us.. Whilst breakfast selection was excellent , most of the food was lukewarm at best , and got cold very quickly.
