Great Value, Cool Hotel”
Centrally located, clean & spacious hotel. Area felt safe for two women travelers, easy access to entertainment and public transit. Beds were comfortable and staff were friendly as helpful. Fun decor in the theme of Hitchcock’s Vertigo, no breakfast, but cute diner & coffee shops on the block. Hope to stay again next time I’m in SF.

Tiny room absolutely no parking or valet services they hand you a coupon for parking for hotel guests and it was 50 dollars a day so with room and parking what good is it to stay at this place I rather stay at larger hotel that offers parking

Good location - on the fringe of Union Square so you can enjoy the quietness of the neighbourhood and yet easy to get around. Room is big and clean. Hotel staffs are very friendly and helped you in whatever ways they can.

The room was a good size, clean &very well presented. We had a end room. Very little noise. The reception staff were very pleasant and helpful. Location was a 15-20 walk from Powell street station and is a bit far to carry cases cause it up hill. We used Uber (lot cheaper than a taxi).

Location is very good, walking distance to most spots around SF. Very accessible too for public transpos, there's a bus stop at the corner of the street and a cable car route near the hotel. There's a pub, pizza place and convenience store along the street. Only issue is that there are a lot of homeless within the area, although they wouldn't bother you (at least during our stay no one did). And nightlife lasts only until around 8pm, 10 at the most during the weekends. Hotels in SF are very very expensive, this one is too but given the location and nearby stores/transpo, price is reasonable.

Unfortunately the homeless problem in San Francisco is huge and they are everywhere being in Nob Hill we do not get as many but we understand it can be a huge culture shock. I really enjoyed my stay at Hotel Vertigo. The rooms (and entire facility) were very clean! (Loved the anti-bed bug mattress cover). The room felt a bit dark but it's an older building and, honestly, a hotel is a safe place to sleep, not a long-term home. I would stay here again and would encourage anyone looking for an affordable place to stay to make a reservation here. Re: people saying the neighborhood is "sketchy": this is a large city. Remember to treat others with compassion and respect; we're all just trying to live.

Location location location ”
This was my second time to San Fran and I found that everything was within walking distance to the hotel - restaurants union square even fishermans wharf within a couple of km's. The staff were all very helpful and the coffee bar was a welcome way to start my daily adventures. Would definately stay here again.

Spacious clean room”
Hotel Vertigo is located in SF downtown, a short (uphill) walk from the union square. The locality is safe and I did not experience any problem walking around quite late at night, and in the immediate vicinity of the hotel, there are no homeless people or beggars, who are a common sight near Union square. Another positive for the hotel was the spacious room with excellent noise insulation and heating. My room had a storage space (with locker) big enough for a single bed and even though it was a front facing room, I never heard any traffic noise. The room was cleaned promptly everyday, and there were many eateries and convenience stores nearby. I think breakfast would be a good addition to service and convenience, and they should change the carpets in room.

Good staying, but expensive”
The WiFi was terribile: it was impossibile to use it. Everytime it crushed up, and it was like if you hadn't signal on your cellphone. Totally unuseful, and that was a huge problem. The gym was under maintenance, but anyone told us about that: I knew it just because I had had another reservation at the same hotel some days before. The price was very high, depending the quality of the hotel, but it was fairly good if you compare it with the other hotels in San Francisco. The dresser smelled so bad, it seemed very old. The bed was very comfortable. In the morning you can find in the hall good tea and coffee.

The part of the hotel where there's the gym was under maintenance, but anyone told us about that. The room was a Queen Standard, and the bed was very narrow. The air recirculation in the bathroom was absolutely noisy, too much.

San Fran in the Rain”
The hotel is about 20 minutes brisk walk from Union Square. Small rooms but really enjoyed having a proper duvet cover - the first in the 23 rooms that we stayed on our trip.12 Staff were very helpful but internet connection was intermittent.
