I had a pleasant stay at this hotel and would recommend it for travelers looking for convenience and comfort in Shanghai. Location: The hotel is in a prime spot—just a short walk to Nanjing Road, making it easy to explore shopping, dining, and local attractions. It's also very accessible from the airport via Line 2 of the metro, which is a huge plus for international travelers. Accessibility: Pickup and drop-off via e-hailing services was smooth, with no traffic hassles. There’s a food stall right downstairs, which was perfect for quick bites or late-night snacks. Cleanliness & Safety: The rooms and common areas were clean and well-maintained. I felt safe throughout my stay, with secure access and attentive staff. Overall: Great value for the location and amenities. Ideal for solo travelers, couples, or business trips. Would definitely stay again.

Right in People's Square and next to a lot of malls and restaurants, close to the subway stop. Small rooms since it's a business hotel, but it worked for us since we were out exploring most of the day and didn't spend much time in the hotel. Bonus perk is the free laundry with auto dispensing detergent in the washing machine based on load size. We didn't end up getting food delivery, but saw the delivery robots going around to rooms. Staff is kind and everything is very clean. Window doesn't open so it's just for the view and sunlight. Would recommend if you're ok with the smaller space!

Before booking this budget hotel i saw so many bad comments about room smells like smoke or even steamboat restaurant! And dirty bathroom that smells bad. I took my chance as i need 4 days of budget stay and the first hotel i book for 2 days is charging very high on weekend. During check in it was typhoon day and it doesn’t have a sheltered lobby (its on 9th level of building) thus my cabbie dropped me off and i was drenched wet juz carrying my luggage inside the building and go up to 9th level to check in. JI has 3 hotels nr Ren Min Guang Chang MRT. I chose this one which is very near 第一百货&南京步行街. Upon check in i told staff of the bad reviews i heard. He told me to check out 2 rooms with and without windows. I chose the with window one and to my surprise room smells clean, bed sheets were clean. Pillows might not be very comfy but i slept well!!! And typhoon weather i had to get food. Turn left and 1 min i reach第一百货departmental store with shanghai food! And less than 3 mins reach mrt exit! And all the eateries in nanjing walk 步行街and more departmental stores just beside the mRT exit! Soooooo convenient! Staying along line 2 green line u can go airport straight and easy to get around visitors’ must go places of interests. My ESIM used up i had to buy new esim and the front desk guy helped me take photo of my qrcode so i can scan and activate on my phone! This hotel is quiet and no smell of eateries downstairs. There is 7 eleven on right and few restaurants. I thought i was taking a risk booking 4 nights this hotel but now it has become my favorite hotel!! Even tissue and toilet paper is thick and their bath gel and shampoo smells great!!! Can’t comment for the other two JI hotels nearby as i haven’t stayed there. But this one exceeded my expectations!!!
We loved our stay overall, but the indoor temperature made it uncomfortable at night. Although it was still winter (around 8–10 C at night), there was no air conditioning, and the room felt too warm for us to sleep well. We later found out that the air conditioning would be turned back on the day we checked out, which unfortunately came too late for our stay. The location was excellent and very convenient. We would recommend skipping the hotel breakfast and exploring the local food options in the city instead as there was not much options for the buffet breakfast.
Our family trip to Shanghai, 14 adults traveling together, was memorable, and staying at Ji Hotel Shanghai People’s Square had its ups and downs. Location: The hotel’s biggest advantage is its unbeatable location near the Nanjing East Road. It’s right in the heart of the action, with easy access to shopping, dining, and major attractions. This made getting around extremely convenient, especially for a large group like ours. Check-in Experience: Unfortunately, the arrival experience could have been much better. We arrived at around 2:00 PM and were informed that check-in was strictly at 4:00 PM. When we asked if we could at least begin the process early, we were told to return later. Upon coming back exactly at 4:00 PM, we still had to wait about 45 minutes to complete check-in. And mind you, we were the only check in guests that time. What more if there are other guests in line? Additionally, despite booking 7 rooms and requesting to be on the same floor, 5 of our rooms were assigned across different floors, which was quite inconvenient for a big family group like ours. Room: The rooms are on the smaller side, but they are clean and thoughtfully designed with a minimalist, Muji-inspired Japanese aesthetic. The large flat-screen TV was a nice touch and added to the comfort of the stay however note that majority, if not all, tv channels are in Chinese. Housekeeping was consistent and commendable. They cleaned the rooms daily, replenished toiletries and bottled water, and replaced towels with fresh ones every day, which we really appreciated. Service: Service is an area that needs improvement. The reception staff could benefit from more training in hospitality and customer service, especially in handling group bookings and guest requests more efficiently. Overall: While the location is excellent and the rooms are decent, the service and check-in experience fell short, particularly for a large group like ours. For a similar price point, I would recommend exploring other hotel options in Shanghai that offer a more seamless and hospitable experience.

We stayed there for five days. The rooms were clean and the staff were super friendly. The location was really good as it’s a short walk to the metro station that connects to multiple lines and it’s also close to two big malls. Check-in and check-out processes were very efficient. I like it that the hotel provides sufficient water for each night and the tea was good.
This hotel is close, but not too close to all the noise and action. Although the staff did not speak English, we were able to use Google translate to communicate, and they were very polite and friendly The room was clean and small, but well laid out. Breakfast in the morning was great with a good variety. There were robots delivering food to guests. The hotel is also very close to the MRT so you can easily get where you need to go. I liked most that it was close to Nanjing Road so there were several restaurants in the area. Will stay here again if I come to Shanghai IMPORTANT NOTE: there are several hotels with the same name (Ji Hotel) don’t go to the wrong address like I did. Lol

We enjoyed our stay at Ji Hotel. Location was prime. Turning right from hotel, you can reach easily a local street selling local breakfast. Turning left from hotel, you can easily access public transportation and malls with great restaurants for dim sum and hot pot. Room was not huge but clean and enough for restful nights. Staff is very nice but their English is limited at times.

The hotel is located in a busy street not far from Nanjing Road. Lots of eateries and coffee shops, easy to order taxi / food. We booked the business / executive room with double beds. Very comfy, has window but cant be open so circulation isnt very good but still Ok as the room isnt stuffy. Space is enough to open 2 big lugagges at the same time. Room is being cleaned daily, towels changed everyday and toilet has no bidet but shower has hot water. I came during end of Winter (entering spring early March) room has no AC. Its hot at first but it will feel cool during the night.

We book the HuaZhu Business Bed Room, spacious and clean. There’s AC heater so the coldness is bearable. English is fine to communicate but try not to test front desk patience. There’s free self laundry to use, you can monitor from your room TV or get notification on your phone. Amenities are included except our room in-built sensor hairdryer is not usable so we had to call reception to send in extra. Situated near the metro station exit 19. Surrounded by eateries and shopping malls, if you take the left turn and go all the way straight down for 10 minutes walk you’ll reach The Bund. There’s a 24/7 operated HeyTea opposite as well.
The room is very spacious. We can unfold our baggages at the same time. Toilet is clean and good. The location is at the beginning of Nanjing pedestrian street! It’s close to many famous food shops.

had a pleasant stay here. The room was spotless and well-maintained, and the washing machine and dryer were a big plus. The place is conveniently located near Nanjing Road with easy access to public transportation.

ที่พักสะอาดดีมาก ห้องนอนผู้หญิงสองคนไม่ใหญ่มากแต่ไม่อึดอัด facility ครบถ้วน มาช่วงเริ่มหนาวเลยเปิดแอร์เป็นลมเย็นนอนหลับสบายค่ะ อาจจะไม่ฉ่ำมากแต่โอเคเลย จริงๆเค้ามี heater แต่เรากลัวห้องมันอบ เลยเปิดเป็นลมเย็นแทน เหมือนทางรรจะปรับไว้ให้แล้วแค่กดเปิดพอค่า ส่วน Locationดีมากๆๆๆ อยู่ใกล้ห้าง และถนนที่มี hey tea, pop mart, และร้านอาหารดังๆเยอะ เรียก didi ก้สบาย ประทับใจมากค่ะ กลับมาพักอีกแน่นอน พนักงานก็ดีมากพยายามบริการ อย่างวันกลับเราให้เค้ากด didi ให้เพราะไม่แน่ใจว่ามีกระเป๋าต้องกดอันไหน ทางพนักงานก็ช่วยเหลือเต็มที่ค่ะ ถึงพูดอังกฤษไม่ได้แต่ก็พยายามแปลภาษามาคุยกับเรา คนไทยพักเยอะมากที่นี่ แนะนำค่า

We took the Shanghai maglev train to reach People Square Metro Station. It was just below 8 mins & amazing, similar to bullet trains in Japan! Out from gate #19/#20 & crossover to new World City Plaza. JI hotel Shanghai People Square just opposite it. Receptionists are all very helpful & we are also welcome with a warm red dates drink. My roaming service is only for WIFI & SMS. Hotel receptionists will help me to book a cab whenever I want. Their toilet is fully automatic, flush once you have used it. Room is very clean, comfortable & supplied with chinese tea. We have a tea table with an attached sofa bed plus a miniature tea set. It was lovely & refreshing (Be careful & don't break the tea set, it was roughly RMB1K) . You can find many nearby restaurants & one of them is the attached rice restaurant that has the best asparagus, dumpling & boneless fish sets.
We were absolutely impressed by our experience at JI Hotel Shanghai People Square! Taking the Shanghai maglev train to People Square Metro Station was an unforgettable 8-minute ride—so smooth and fast, it felt just like Japan’s bullet trains. After exiting through Gate #19/#20, we crossed over to New World City Plaza, and the hotel was conveniently right opposite the plaza. The hotel’s receptionists were incredibly helpful and welcoming, even treating us to a warm red dates drink upon arrival, which was such a nice touch. Our roaming service only supported WIFI and SMS, but the hotel staff went out of their way to assist us—they were always ready to book a cab whenever we needed one, which was a huge convenience for our trips around the city. What stood out most was the hotel’s thoughtful details: the fully automatic toilets (flushing automatically after use) and the clean, comfortable rooms equipped with Chinese tea. “Very very near to the Bund and Nanjing Walker Street”
The overall experience staying in the hotel is good. Let's talk about something good first: 1. Location is superb. Walking distance to the bund, the Nanjing Walker Street, the supermarket, kfc, pizza, McDonald. 7-11 is just downstairs. The small eatery shop at the ground floor offers good breakfast with cheap price. The hotel breakfast needs 40yuan, and the average I spend in the shop is only about 15yuan. 2. The self helped laundry is free of charge. Perhaps, some of the downside of the hotel: 1. The lift looks very old, and I suspect there is some technical problem? There is one time where I was the only customer in the lift, and I use my room key to tap on the lift to go to my floor. There is nobody with me, but suddenly I heard a sound of tip and the 8th floor light is on. I was puzzled. Then got one time, I was going down to ground floor from 9th floor. At the 8th floor, it stops again with no customer. This happens 3 times. I was wondering the lift system has problem? 2. The staff does not clean my room even I have put up the clean sign. I have to ask the front desk to arrange for the clean. Other than these, all are good 👍. However, I may not return to the hotel again for my next stay. The lift has frightened me a lot 😭😭
