my ngoc hotel - take the good with the bad.”

if you're vietnamese this would be a fantastic place to stay. for the rest of us, there are some drawbacks. the staff english is pretty limited, and they seem annoyed at having to try. the whole family must live here, so it's a bit like a high-rise homestay. for the amazing view, i chose the 6th floor "penthouse". unfortunately the wifi doesn't reach up there. so my very limited surfing was done during breakfast or other meals, if at all. the "included" breakfast is pretty lame, but overall the first floor restaurant offers good food at great prices. many visitors from other hotels came here to eat for the good prices. my ngoc offers the usual local tours, and does a good job. (no english speaking guide, of course.)

The good thing is that is cheap. The bad thing is all the rest with a remarkable unfriendly staff. In addition,avoid to book your way to Ha Noi with them, they will give you the slowest fare at the highest price (I spent 3 hours more to come back to Ha Noi compare to my way in at Cat Ba, they got for the western tourists an absurd trip with 3 busses and 1 boat instead on 1 bus and 1 boat as usually it is).

Not bad, not the best”

We were wary of this hotel after reading some of the poor online reviews, but it's gotten something of bad wrap that it doesn't entirely deserve. The lady who worked the front desk while we were there was very helpful and arranged good tours for us. The bay tour was fantastic with great food on the boat and lots of things to see and do. She made sure our personal items were safe when we gave them over, but we did feel a little wary when she herself said "don't leave anything in the room you will get stolen from." We went at the tail end of winter which is rainy so the rooms were COLD, damp and a bit uncomfortable, but that is hard to avoid wherever you stay during that season. The hot water, however, didn't last for more than 2 minutes which was a little annoying. The food wasn't the worst I've ever eaten, but they do serve instant noodles which isn't the best when you want something authentic. There are better and much much worse places on the island...it is one of the cheaper places to eat so it was nice not to be completely ripped off for our food. The only annoyances we ran into were when we rented motor bikes and mine ran out of gas 20 feet from the hotel; they expected me to push it the 1/2 mile to the gas station and fill it up on my tab which I refused to do and when we checked out the only person at the front desk was a guy who couldn't speak English and he insisted I hadn't paid when I had- it was an ordeal we didn't want to deal with. Otherwise we had a nice time. Its a good deal for what you pay and that is whats most important; especially if you are budget traveling like we were.

food is not really good.(exept breakfeast because you can choose whatever you want in the menu) they offer really good trips, we were only 5 in the group so that was great!

My Ngoc Hotel”

The hotel is situatet in the center of the town, but in a side street, so it is not as noise there - which is allways good. The room was clean and with a good size. The people working there were friendly und helpful. All together is was a good stay in the hotel.

The only good thing about this hotel is that it is very close to the harbour. Other than that the people working there are very unfriendly, they give you the feeling to be disturbing them. You don`t feel welcome at all. The rooms don`t make you feel comfortable as well. They are not very clean. The door of the bathroom could`t be closed and parts of the toilet were kind of broken.

Good location but lots if improvements needed...”

We spent 3 nights at the My Ngoc hotel. The room was spacious with a great view on the harbor. We made the 1 day tour on Halong bay which was very nice and included kayaking and swimming.  Nevertheless, some improvements must be done : - the sheets were full of holes and the mattress pad was dirty - the included breakfast was not worth it : a piece of bread with a small but fat omelet and coffee or tea - the boat for the cruise was a bit dirty as well with empty cans and  banana peels on the upper deck. We constantly had the feeling of being harassed by the owners who always wanted to sell us something .Don't book with them the journey Cat Ba - Ninh Binh!!!!  : We were packed like animals in a small boat and even smaller bus where we had to sit on the floor.

had a very pleasant stay here. initially it didn't seem very friendly and a bit disorganised but after a day or so they seemed to smile more.

Même pas le minimum.Aucune politesse clé de chambre remise à la réception à l'arrivée et déposée le jour du départ. Pas de chauffage pas de télécommande TV.Pas de bouteille d'eau en SDB.Présence de rats à l'etage RDC +1. A ÉVITER.

Fantastique vue mais prorpret et service laissent ”

Magnifique vue sur la mer mais lits durs et proprete qui laisse a sesirer.personnel inexistant plus occupé a gerer le restaurant que l'hotel.pas de petit dejeuner mais on peut en trouver a proximité facilement

Belle situation, entretien lamentable”

Nous avons loue deux chambres et passe 2 nuits. Hotel juste passable. Tres belke situation et construction avec chambres face a la baie. Mais accueil indifferent, chambres avec taches d'humidite, sol pas net, odeur de moisissure, odeur de resturant du bas dans les couloirs.

Bon séjour excepté l accueil. Les excursions sont un enjeu fort qui perturbent les relations. Au niveau du restaurant on peut éviter.

Hotel basique”

L'hotel est tres vétuste. La propreté du draps et des serviettes laisse à désirer. Lors du check-in pensez à demander une chambre sur rue sinon vous allez avoir une chambre sans fenêtre. Pour les points positifs , les chambres sont pas chères, le restaurant est pas mal et pas trop cher . Sinon les excursions proposés par l hotel sont de bonne qualité et les tarifs sont honnêtes en comparaison avec les agences présentes sur Cat ba

Hôtel à éviter à tous prix”

Nous regrettons d'avoir réservé et payé 4 nuits d'avance dans cet hôtel. Aucune gentillesse dans cet établissement. les sourires sont réservés à l'encaissement de l'argent. Nous avions une chambre avec une vue qui aurait été sympathique sur la baie de Cat Ba si le personnel n'utilisait pas notre balcon pour étendre son linge à longueur de journée en nous masquant le paysage. La chambre n'était pas propre, les poubelles infectes. La nourriture est également très très moyenne. Le petit déjeuner "inclus" comporte un verre de thé ou café, un morceau de pain et une omelette minuscule. Nous avons loué un motorbyke pour la journée et nous sommes rentrés au bout de 3 heures car il est tombé en panne. Pas sérieux... Le seul point positif cependant est notre expérience d'excursion d'une journée retenue avec eux dans la Baie d'Along. Cet hôtel a un bon partenaire en la matière. . Voilà, nous ne nous sommes pas sentis bien dans cet hôtel et avons eu envie de le signaler.
