The room was fine but as a business traveler I needed internet - although there was Wi-Fi it hardly worked in my room. The printer was also broken in the business centre. This seemed like a high price for facilities that were a bit lacking.
My stay in general was great. The only point I would like to raise is that towels are changed everyday, irrespective of where you leave them, so were my pillow cases. Although they were removed with the initial room cleaning daily, they were not returned unless I called reception to remind them.
The location is great and the room size made it very easy to manage all our gear for the 70.3 race. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay here again.

Disappointed with Staff”
Very much disappointed with Staff after having stayed more than 4 days in a Suite without a refrigerator and this despite everyday calls and reminders to the main desk of which they showed lack of willingness to assist at some point one staff member said that they can’t take a fridge from a room that is already occupied by guests and this left me wondering if should it not be that a very suite has its refrigerator. The only reported issue that was handled at least earlier (after 1 day) by the unwilling Staff was the falling aluminium sliding door.

Great hotel, just dont use the spa”
Don't even know where to start.If it is stated on the booking 2 Guests please ready the room for two guests and don't just put one towel etc. Aircon doesnt work. I got bitten by fiddleback spider (still receiving medical attention. Hotel staff is great very friendly. Spa staff, not at all. I understand it's cultural but please, when I ask a question, dont ignore me and answer my BF in xhosa. I asked the question please then answer me. As for the spa itself i wrote this review on facebook I dont know here else to raise it: Payed for luxury day spa packages : razul, floatation, facial and massage. No questionnaires to determine allergies or skin type. As a result i'm getting post-facial breakouts. When we got out the razul after only 15 min beause it was too hot, we were told to get dressed, the floatation pool is out of order but we still had to pay the full amount eventhough we only did 3/4 treatents. We had to go withdraw R2100 because the payment was out of order too.
The staff were truly amazing and were happy to resolve any requests or problems I had quickly and friendly and efficiently.
Not worth the price”
The hotel is old and dusty. Lift is scary. Rooms are satisfactory but curtains seem dusty. The view and location is great but on the whole it is not worth the price.
There was one shower towel in the bathroom. We requested more towels and just got ignored. The guy at the front desk was not friendly at all throughout on all nights (we only saw him in the night) There were drunks at the reception who made one hell of a noise and none of the stuff bothered ask them to keep it low. I will not be returning nor recommend this place
We ( myself and Spouse ) booked in on Friday 02/02/18 and we expected breakfast the following day Saturday but only started at 07:00am and we were leaving at 06:30 and there was no way that we can be accommodated in terms of getting "' take aways.' Sunday we checked out but we expected to have breakfast as part of the package but we paid for it.

Please add bar fridges to rooms. Useful for events like ironman where the hotel is filled with athletes.
Features for athletes”
The 70.3 event is hosted yearly in East London attract athletes globally and this event is now in its 13th year. Hotels such as the Regent is booked out months or even years in advance for the event and should think of adding bar fridges to the rooms to cater for athletes.
This was my first time participating at Ironman in East London. The staff at the Regent was extremely friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the stay and was pleasantly surprised by the facilities and convenient location to the event. I will definitely be back next year.

The hotel is in a great place and looks great but staff needs some work on customer service, it took forever to check in while there were 3 people at the reception only one was working the other two were just loitering around, nobody informed us of what time was the breakfast and where it will be served which resulted in us missing it of course, house keepers they just barge in without knocking.

Except for some visitors who were noisy very early in the morning, everything was perfect. House keeping needs to ve system to check rooms that have been vacated not randomly knock in my room at 8am while I'm sleeping wanting to clean. Worse if it all they knocked 3 times after every 15 minutes.
