Had to be moved from 1st room offered as the plumbing in the bathroom was banging. Dropped off bags in 2nd room before going out for dinner. Woken up through the night with banging plumbing. Went down to reception and was met with many other guests complaining about their being affected too. Clearly a hotel-wide problem
Great hotel - 10 years ago”
This place would have been lovely when it opened, but now they don't care and it has fallen into disrepair, with frayed curtains, stained headboards, wonky burnt lampshades, and so much stained, broken and botched in repair. Incredibly disappointing for the money.
Absolutely HORRIBLE. Flies in the bedroom. Stained headboard and curtains. ”
This hotel is absolutely horrible! I booked this hotel from Agoda, because it had a 8/10 stars and I thought it would be a great heritage townhouse experience. IT DOESN'T LOOK ANYTHING LIKE THE PHOTOS ON THEIR WEBSITE. Here is everything that I hated about this hotel: 1) There were FLIES in the room. THREE FLIES circling around the bed. 2) The carpet was absolutely disgusting. I didn't feel comfortable taking my shoes off! 3) The curtains, headboard were stained. 4) The mini fridge, air conditioner was broken. The room was extremely hot, but we couldn't open the windows because flies would come in. 5) The hotel management failed to mention that there was construction near by, so we woke up to the pleasant noise of construction in the morning. 6) The breakfast included is absolutely bare bones - a few pieces of dry toast, some basic preserves, tea or coffee, and juice. They had one or two croissants left, which did not taste good at all.
Lovely hotel, large comfortable bedrooms. We felt the reception was very slow and disorganised, extremely long winded. It was also in the hallway, where there privacy or space. We also felt the only thing missing was another space for a bar area. Overall we would recommend.
As a an old-fashioned hotel should be”
The hotel was exactly what I hoped it would be. Loved my room with the four poster bed. The included breakfast is a little scarce. Absolutely gorgeous afternoon tea. Quiet street outside. Very nice neighbourhood.
A gem of an independent hotel of discreet charm centrally located ”
Helpful staff . Clean elegantly appointed room. Within easy walking distance of transport. Restaurants and tourist attractions. Only minor cons absolutely no hangers in wardrobes although more were available on request! A benefit would have been tea making facilities in the room.
lovely hotel, good location. room service was ok however, after a long flight and taxi to the hotel we were told the kitchen was closed (10:30pm), even though the notice in the lift said it was open until 11pm. bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean
Quiet, relaxing and a Good value!”
The property was lovely and very close to a few restaurants, cafes and a tube station. However it’s not close to most tourist attractions so transportation time could be long, and costly if going by taxi. We were on the 4th floor and hot water in the shower was spotty as well as the elevator service, so if you have difficulty with stairs it’s probably best to let them know, as they didn’t ask. Beautiful, clean rooms with a/c and clean and mini bar. Definitely enjoyed our stay here! If you’re looking for a quiet, upscale neighborhood to relax this is your place! If you want a more upbeat place, close to the action, bars, etc, you may want to look closer to central London.
The staff were very helpful + friendly,Sandya was always cheerful (+ Yvonne managed a problem that arose on day of our arrival expertly + efficiently)The meals were good + well presented. The room was serviced daily, and clean fluffy towels. Would have liked tea/coffee making in our room.
Nice with some improvements to be made”
The location of the hotel is great and the area is lovely. Very practical and close to the Tube. The hotel is nice and of good value for this area in London. The room was small and could have used some improvements (carpet was so old and worn-out there were entire pieces missing) but overall it was comfortable and nice. The person at reception in the morning was lovely but the lady in the evening who helped me check-in was very unfriendly - same when I ordered room service. The food was quite nice. I think a few minor improvements in the attitude of the staff and refurbishing some very old carpet/tapestry would have made me give 5 stars to everything.
At arrival we were shocked. Next to the unprofessional reception we found a very dirty room and a pillow with blood stains. Of course things can go wrong in any hotel but telling you as a guest the can't solve anything is outrageous. We do warn people not to go to this hotel.
Some staff members need better training
Owners need to empower staff and have a process”
I stayed at the Penthouse Suite for a week in late March. I used to be a fan of this charming English hotel. In my recent stay, i noticed the owner, especially an elderly man, constantly scolding his staff. As a result, staff morale is very low and they are the most miserable bunch I have ever met. I feel sorry for them. Tip to the owners, write down your process so that the staff know what to do. As long as the process is followed, they have done their job. Second item is the breakfast which they ask you to fill out the form and leave at the door at check in. My breakfast was not included and neither was the family that checked out before me. At check out, the surprise bill is presented. I have no problems with paying for my breakfast but the family in front of me were very upset because they felt misled. Please make clear whether breakfast is included or not during check in. Once again, the importance of process. The milk served to my room was completely off and stale!
Fantastic from head to toe”
The Cranley Hotel is perfectly located with the Glouster Metro Station a few blocks away. We ate there the first night and had one of the best meals of our trip. The staff was lovely and super attentive. Now that is what customer service is about. I would stay here again for sure.
We spent two night in the executive room. It is really a great hotel. the room is clean and comfortable. we even have living room space in the room. However, the price is including breakfast, but don't expect to much, there is even no choice to the breakfast, only toast and croissant, and hot drinks and fruit juice. The receptionist at night is no helpful, we called to ask a hairdryer, but no one gave it to us. We got it in the next day.
Best bed & room, ever”
Booked the Executive room. It is on the lower level which gave us a bit of a garden to step outside. The bathroom is huge. The best however was the incredible bed! Be aware that you need to order your b'fst the night before & indicate the time. Received ours exactly on time. Full English was excellent. Overall, a wonderful stay!
Hotel is in a great location and has old English charm. Polite staff with ground floor restaurant. No pool or gym and tube station is 4 blocks away. We had a great time , thanks for the tea every night to finish our day.
It's a lovely character hotel with all the modern conveniences Cleanliness and updating Would improve it. The biggest drawback!: the staff was adequate but stopped short of being friendly. However the location is wonderful, beautiful and close to the underground.
Like staying in a gorgeous stately home”
This is a hidden gem -- like staying in a stately home (if I knew anyone who owned one). It really has the feel of a private home and I felt like a treasured invited guest. The staff at reception were infinitely helpful, polite and good-natured. The room was cosy and ingeniously arranged -- it was rather small but did not feel cramped at all. I was very pleased to have a real bathtub. Breakfast delivered to my room precisely on schedule was always perfect. (Did not eat any other meals here.) Levels of cleanliness perfect. Very close to public transportation, lots of restaurants and shops.
Great location, very good service small room”
super location and an excellent staff. room was pretty small but given the fact its london, its the best one can do at us$ per day. though if compared to some of the other european cities, this should not cost more than us$ per day.
