Nice Hotel”

A large and well finished hotel. It would have been "Real Grand" when built. Does show some signs of it's age but still a beautifully finished hotel. Staff were excellent and food very good,however a bit on the expensive side for room service but very good anyway. I would stay there again if given the chance. Breakfast buffet was very good also.

I do know that some of the rooms are being renovated this month, surly the whole hotel can't be renovated this month?

Exceptional service”

This has been a grand hotel in its day and still displays much historic charm and impressive features, such as wood paneling, chandliers, and huge drapes! The upkeep on such a large historic complex is no doubt challenging. However it is very pleasant to take a step back in time to enjoy the surroundings. By far the most impressive feature of this hotel is the superb friendly service of all the staff. The reception staff are extremely friendly and helpful, always willing to assist with advice and taxi bookings. The bellboys are proactive and helpful; the gardener too is friendly and pleasant proving that you do not need to be able to speak the language to display a genuine friendliness and interest in people. The hotel rooms are clean and spacious; wifi works well and the breakfast buffet offers sufficient variety to cater for most tastes. An external beer garden offers live entertainment and good food options. Location is ok but a bit too far to walk to the city centre.

Great location”

This is my first time staying there and I would definitely stay there again. It is a great hotel with all the amenities you can imagine. The only thing missing is a fitness center but there is a very nice one right in the next street behind the hotel. There are many restaurants and cafes in the hotel complexe. Great swimming pool. The location is also in the center of town. Strongly recommended if you go to Surin.

This time only stayed 1 night. Staff members remembered me from my last visit 9months before. Maked driver arranment for me to visit festival in Sikhoraphum. Walking distance to bus terminal. Also train station not far.

I liked the hotel and the location close to restaurants and bars. The bed was not of western or farang quality. The staff speak English but not always easy to communicate. Worse was that they did not know almost anything about the elephant show.

Excellent Hotel”

The Thongtarin Hotel is a large older style hotel, well maintained and with helpful attentive staff. The hotel is well positioned and the large rooms and bathrooms were spotlessly clean. I would certainly stay in this hotel again

Location Location ”

Easy walk to bus and train. Food and Banks near by. Hotel is old, but we'll kept. Breakfast good. Rooms clean. Service to room and front desk very good. I would recommend and I would stay here again

Best location in town”

This is the only location to be in if you want to do anything after dark. There are loads of restaurants, clubs and bars in the nightlife precinct near the hotel. Most of the rest of town is dead after 8pm. Everything in the hotel works fine. The staff are on the ball, the WiFi works well, the breakfast is fine. The decor is a bit old fashioned, but hardly a dealbreaker.

old hotel but good enough”

A flagship hotel for Surrin in the past im sure. Still impressive in many ways but old. Expect good breakfast and a smallish not very clean pool. Rooms interior old, furniture old, some mild smell in the room but not terrible. Otherwise all good. It was a pleasant stay.

Location and Comfort”

Our stay was pleasant and satisfying; although the bathroom was extremely small, it was clean and well maintained. The only drawback was the music coming from one of the hotel's entertainment facilities-depending on your room location and use of the air-conditioner, the music could be background, "white," noise or an annoyance. Of course if you like to have an evening's entertainment the hotel offers a variety of choices, all of which appeared popular.

Well located with many Thai cafe/street stalls/bars in easy walking distance. Around the corner is Tawandang, for excellent Thai music/drink/food Don't use Beer Garden very poor service and expensive (waited over an hour for main course and it was inedible - whole fish very overcooked and chopped into small pieces so bones were impossible to extract; and it was 500 Baht) Room is spacious, comfortable and clean and excellent vaklue for money

OLD & TIRED HOTEL”

This was the fourth time I've stayed at Thongtarin & unfortunately will be my last. This hotel must once have been beautiful but that must have been 40 years ago. Everything is run down & even though the staff are wonderful the hotel itself needs to be gutted. Poor maintenance & an average breakfast means the price is just far too hogh for the hotel. I would now rate it only 2-star.

Good Hotel located in the center of Surin ”

Thongtarin hotel is in the center of Surin, about five minutes walk from the bus station. Surin is very quiet place, and apart from the elephant festival in November there is not much going on. But it is in a nice part of Thailand with rice fields and silk production

Needs attention”

We spent 2 nights in a Deluxe Room with Breakfast. I don't think this hotel is worthy of a 4 Star Rating. It's seen better days , perhaps it was a 4 Star hotel many moons ago? The staff were brilliant and a good location. However, the owners really need to address the various issues which guests have left in their reviews - do the owners reed the reviews? Our room was ok apart from a faulty electric kettle (dangerous), sink plug got stuck (looks like it's been that way for a while?) no way could I get it out to drain the waste water away, door security not very good, no safety deposit box, wifi in room poor, breakfast not very good - cold fried eggs and no labels to inform you of the hot food on offer contents, We used the Thongtarin Beer Garden, I was not impressed - I had to ask for my bar bill twice - lack of staff training? To sum-up, I'm sure there are better hotels in Surin for the same money, if ever we visit Surin again? I don't think I would consider booking the Thongtarin

Nice hotel to stay”

Stayed 2 nights in a deluxe room. Good location but, I don't think this hotel is worthy of a 4 star rating! It's seen better days, room was ok, ac old, no safety deposit box, kettle faulty, sink plug useless, wifi a pain, door internal door security neglected, breakfast ok but, cold fried eggs nothing in writing informing you of the hot food dishes contents. Ajacent Beer Garden was ok but, I had to ask for my bill twice - lack of staff training? Overal, this hotel was probably great in it's day, it's a shame see the maintenance neglected by the owners.
