Good value in a great location”
I generally stay at the Ruby Star if I am spending time in Saigon. I like the location, not in the high tourist area but close enough to get to any sites you want. Location gives you an opportunity to experience some true Vietnamese life. I always enjoy the street food and small restaurants in this area. Don't miss the street restaraunt that sets up across the street M-F for a selection of items. The girl running it speaks excellent English and is anxious to help you. If you haven't tried it before this an excellent place to start. The hotel staff are especially friendly and willing to help. The sacrifice is a hotel room without windows, but A/C works great and I have an alarm to let me know when it's time to get up.

Good value, good location”
I extended my stay by a few nights to enjoy the unique true Saigon experience in areas such as this hotel is located. About a 15 minute walk from the normal tourist areas of District 1 (40,000 vnd taxi). But a world apart. Generally I went other directions to get the real experience. Eating with the locals in real Vietnamese places was my goal. With a very little bit of Vietnamese and some research assisted by a couple real helpful street food blogs I had a unique experience. These local spots can be very accommodating when approached right. If there mid week don't miss the mother-daughter pop up restaurant that opens for lunch on the sidewalk across the street from the hotel. The daughter has excellent English, the food is great, and they offer a selection every day. You won't believe the price! The hotel staff were excellent. No hassles, and very quick to know me. Everyday for 7 mornings when I left the hotel for breakfast on my return my room was cleaned and made up. I haven't experienced this in many hotels even of a much higher class. Other hotels in the same area on Agoda of this class were more expensive.

Good value for a good location”
If you are ready to get away from the District 1 tourist scene this is an excellent choice in a moderate range hotel. Lots of local restaurants for the locals. You need to be a little more resourceful to get by here, but it's well worth the challenge to be immersed in a true Vietnamese neighbourhood. The tourist areas of District 1 are only a 50,000 vnd taxi ride away. War Remanents museum is only a few blocks, Reunification palace about 1/2 km. The main desk person speaks and understands English very well and she is most helpful to make your stay comfortable.

Good value for the location”
A very reasonable hotel in District 3 just down the street from War Remanents museum. Much more of a “locals” area than Ditrict 1. A wide variety of restaurants catering to Vietnamese not tourists, which I think is a good thing. Reunification Palace an easy walk. You can even walk to the main center (Post Office) in about 20 minutes and see something along the way. A quite large “fitness” park about a 5 minute walk.

The Hotel is located in a good area of Ho Chi minh, not where alkl turist are, very near to a War museum, and also you can wolk about 20 minuts to the market, the room they need a little beat or refresh.

we found the staff very friendly and helpful, they might not all speak the best english but they try hard. as far as 2 star hotels go in hcmc it was quiet nice the rooms are small compared to westen rooms but not too bad and they have nice cold air con and hot showers! the rooms are clean and tidy but there are no windows though that does help keep the noise out.

Great Clean Hotel”
Stayed for 1 night. Rooms are spotless, but fairly small. Free WiFi is a great plus! As read in previous reviews- they are not used to provide breakfast. After I asked for it a nice gentleman went to fetch some eggs and rolls for me (and I had friend eggs, baguette and milo). Very appreciated! Good location, great value for money.

Great location, clean, and good service”
I have stayed 2 nights in this hotel together with my girlfriend. We really enjoyed the services over there. The receptionists are very friendly, and speak English very well. I have no problem communicate with them. Try to ask them where is the nice food nearby, they could give you good advice. Attraction places are nearby this hotel. You can either walk or take a taxi with reasonable price (around 30-50k Dong, year 2012). Btw, breakfast is not provided.

Decent, basic budget hotel in good location”
I'm not picky and have stayed in a lot of budget hotels throughout Vietnam - this was neither the nicest or the worst, but probably closer to the nice end of the spectrum. Big TV, clean enough, and in my favorite area of the city - only a 15 minute walk to Bui Vien and the tourist nonsense areas, but next to the park, loads of food options. It's quiet at night but the noise will pick up at ~6:30 am, I wouldn't want to try to sleep off a hangover here. I arrived for check in at 1am, doors were locked but the receptionist was sleeping on the couch in view of the door, so no worries. I don't know how it would work out if one was going out clubbing, never had any late excursions after my arrival. No kettle or coffee in the room, but there's some snacks and a stocked mini fridge with junk for purchase. No coffee or food to be offered otherwise in the hotel at all, I went down to reception to ask if they had coffee once and they indicated it was outside, which I guess was a fair if not amusing response. All in all it's a decent place to hole up for a short stay or looking for apartments, think this is a gem as far as value goes.

Excellent stay, the rooms were clean, comfortable and plenty big enough. Shower was great. 10 minutes walk from the major tourist sites and the staff were helpful and pleasant. I would highly recommend it, especially at the price!
