Nice stay in St.Kilda ”
1. The location is good ( 3 mins walk from tram station; 5-8 mins to the beach) 2. The staff is very friendly and arrange early checkin for me 3. The room is big and clean, very comfortable BUT REMEMBER - DONT CHOOSE 1/F!! VERY NOISY COZ IT IS CLOSE TO CAR PARK
Will stay again in this hotel !”
I have spend 1 week in Melbourne, the hotel is clean and staff is really nice and helpful. Even if the hotel is located one of the popular street in St Kilda, that was not noisy for me during the nights spent there (including Sunday and Friday night, not Saturday). Breakfast is truly amazing with lots of choices and the coffee latte is delicious. I will stay here again during my next visit in Melbourne.
Great Location ”
Room was a great size for the price - cannot beat the location! Security could be better - my partner needed a key for our room & wasn't even asked for ID - they just recoded him a key to the room number he said - it wasn't the same person that checked us in. Otherwise everything was fantastic!
1 Night in the heart of Fitzroy Street St Kilda”
The location of this hotel is excellent, the parking good value and the room of a very good standard. This is now our 'go to place' if we are staying in St Kilda to catch up with our friends who live locally. Great position straight onto Fitzroy Street and a two minute tram ride to Ackland Street. Definitely recommend it!
Great location and helpful staff”
This is a great hotel, convenient to restaurants, beach and transport around St Kilda. The hotel rooms were clean and spacious offering Evo products (big plus) and in room facilities. The staff are very helpfull and there is a lovely cafe attached to the hotel offering great breakfasts.
nice boutique hotel in excellent location”
stayed overnight on fri 28th december. check in was excellent, very professional and quick. hotel room was modern and bright. the beds were divine, the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in. smallish room (we stayed in a superior queen room) but enough to put a suitcase and bags in it without tripping over everything. had all the mod cons you would expect from a 4 star hotel. the toiletries were exceptional and the bathroom was quite big and spacious. the only downfalls of the room which i find annoying in any hotel is having the plasma tv on a bracket from the roof as the only comfortable way to watch tv is to lie on the bed because if you are sitting you have to crank your head up to the roof. also, having a shower over a bath, i am not a big fan for. an open cupboard next to the sink would be great as the long glass bench did not seem strong enough to hold our toiletries which we had to put on the bathroom floor instead. the gym is quite small but has the necessary equipment for a good workout. the front restaurant/coffee shop we did not dine in except for grabbing a coffee which was excellent. all in all, i would stay at this hotel again for its location which is exceptional.
Reasonable price, great location, particularly for our event.
Central St Kilda Bargain Location”
The saying, 'You get what you paid for,' applies in this instance. There is a gym upstairs and a deck outside it, but we didn't use the facilities. On the first floor, looking out the window all you can see is the adjoining building. The room is a reasonable size and the bed was king sized. It's the proximity to everything that make this place stand out. There is a great bar/eatery on the ground floor and in the morning the cafe opposite is very reasonably priced. It's compact but clean. Staff are accommodating. I forgot something in the room after checking out and when I came back someone in the reception went up and got it for me. There were wine glasses in the room. Free wifi but a limited range of TV viewing. It really did suit us for an overnight stay.
Great location for St Kilda and the Pilais Theatre. Fitzroy Street is eclectic and Rydges is close to a couple of amazing bars and just around the corner in Acland street was the most delicious Chinese Restaurant owned by the Lau Family. The bar that served the best cocktails in Melbourne was just next door and behind a facade that gave the impression of a construction site but when you ventured in behind this wall you enter a cellar of the best presence and service...a most at St Kilda. The Rydges cafe had great coffee and service. The staff were friendly and accommodating. We could not fault this facility and will return again.
Not so great if you need to park”
The hotel itself was what you would expect from a Rydges so no surprises there. What did surprise me was the $30/night parking which was a necessity in this area given the amount of crazies getting about outside. A little transparency here would have given us the option to compare prices more accurately. Rooms were great accept for the noise of anyone in the hallway echoing throughout the building.
Rooms were clean and spacious, bathroom as big as main area, which is a pleasant change. Housekeeping was a little rough......rubbish bags not replaced when full ones taken away and the beds were not made on the first night. Reception and cafe staff were friendly and informative. Overall very happy with our stay. Would stay again
Not bad for a night, but hard to spot!”
Not a bad stay, though quite a bit of noise - some from the bar/restaurant next door, and some through the paper thin walls when the people in the room next to ours got in at 5am. I think maybe they were also smoking in their room, though this is not the hotel's fault, and a reminder was placed under the door of our room as a reminder that it is a non-smoking hotel. All-in-all, for one night, it's not a bad choice, I'd probably stay there again. I did assume that a twin share room would be two double+ beds, rather than singles, but this may well have been my own mistake!
Excellent Small Hotel with friendly staff ”
Location, Staff and room quality are all a high standard. The Urban Group of Hotels seems to focus on those items that make a guest feel comfortable both in the hotel and in the area around the hotel.
Hip hotel in a great location. Good value”
I travelled and moved to this hotel from Punt Hill Hotel. Urban St Kilda provided a good respite. Excellent value for money and great staff members. I think there is room for improvement with the food served in the cafe. Overall I would choose this place.
Enjoyed my stay there. Free parking located behind the establishment, and you'll be guided after checking-in. Staff was friendly. Tram stop right outside the hotel. Convenience stores nearby. Good location at St Kilda. No complaints.
It was a great spa hotel”
Would love to come back one day to sleep in the spa room again. Would love to buy the reindeer pooh chocolate again. It was nice. Everyone love it. Going out from the hotel, there are lots and lots of restaurant to pick from every single day. Will not lack choices to choose from. There are also pharmacy and convenient store too to buy your own groceries if you want.
Hip and funky”
St Kilda is a nightlife spot in Melbourne and this place is gay friendly, not that there is anything wrong with that. Staff are great and made no issue of my request for room with firmer bed. Is boutique so has the feel of being owner-operated being quite rare these days. I plucked a good deal on Agoda, so was good value for money. They organised shuttle back to airport which was awesome deal at $20 door-to-door. And James make a very nice hot chocolate. I will be back.
great location and very quiet”
only stayed one night at the urban in st Kilda. great location near the beach and esplanade. lots of things to do and see around here. next door to the prince of Wales great for music and food and a drink. the hotel it's self was clean and set back from the street. which on fitzroy street is a must. the room was a good size and the beds very comfortable. the surprise was how quiet it was, given the location , we slept like babies. only in the morning was there a bit of noise from the hallway or bit of building or something. all in all a great little spot and if you can get the insider deal with agoda it's even better value.
Very relaxing and enjoyable stay.”
The staff were efficient. Location though not at CBD area is actually close to quite a few places like Ackland Street, the beach and the unique and whimsical Luna Park. The best part of any holiday is to come back to a hotel room which is clean with a comfortable bed.
Comfortable, friendly staff, good location”
It was our first time in Melbourne, so our first stay at the Urban. We have family living very close by, and will very likely stay at the Urban again as we were very satisfied with everything - the location, the room, the service and the lovely cafe downstairs. We also did not need to go very far from the Urban for anything we needed. The tram is right there and there are also plenty of eateries close by, plus 7 Eleven convenience stores and Chemist.
