Ryokan Experience”
My family, including two teenage children, visited Japan in June and wanted to experience the traditional Japanese accommodations of a ryokan. Ryokan Kanade exceeded our expectations. The room was immaculate and was plenty large enough for the four futons each evening. Our room had it's own toilet and sink, in addition to a shower and bath, which was a pleasant surprise. Our room overlooked both a rock patio, and the beautifully lush Japanese garden which can also been seen from the dining room. The Kaiseki dinners both evenings are indescribable - each course was a beautiful work of art and the quality of the food beyond measure. It was certainly more food than we are accustomed to. Breakfast was the same. The staff was very nice and did their best to explain to us how to appropriately wear the yukata, socks, and slippers provided in each room. A great stay!

Very comfortable ryokan”
We have stayed in several ryokans in and around Kyoto, and Kanade was the comfortable of all. This is in large part attributable to the foam mattresses to sleep on, rather than the traditional thin, hard mats. Further, the shower/bath facility was exceptionally functional and well supplied. It is a bit remote, so if you like being right in the middle of the city, this ryokan may not be the best choice. But it is quiet, and there are stores and restaurants within easy walking distance.

Fantastic stay”
We booked this ryokan relatively last minute and as a group of three, we were very satisfied with our stay. The room was very clean and spacious and we had a great view looking over the garden. The ryokan is located near several attractions such as the Philosopher’s Path and Eikando Temple. There is also a bus station nearby so you can get to Gion and other parts of the city relatively easily. Overall, we had a fantastic stay!

Incredible First Ryokan Experience at Ryokan Kanade”
Wow! As first timers at a Ryokan, we were amazed and in awe at the attention to detail and beauty of the traditional Japanese inn. This is a newly built Ryokan, but still held (in our first-timers' minds) all the beauty and craftsmanship we were hoping to experience. The room was very comfortable and surprisingly held plenty of storage space for luggage and belongings with two wardrobes and some shelving. We were met kindly by the front desk and shown to our room. It was impeccably clean and everything had a place. We very much enjoyed taking in the beauty of the room and looking out into the garden from our balcony. The shower itself was an experience alone. Can't emphasize enough the attention to detail in the room itself. Kaiseki breakfast was amazing as well! Only complaint was noise at night; we could hear clearly people downstairs/down the hall pretty loudly, as the doors are not well sealed and walls thin. Overall, loved our stay and would recommend!

Great Experience at Ryokan”
This was the first time at a Ryokan for my family and I. It was a wonderful experience. We loved the tatami room and sleeping on the futons. The bathroom and the bathroom amenities were luxurious. The location was a bit out of the way, but there was public transportation close by. Our family walked to the town center most of the time, but it might be a bit far for some people. Unfortunately we weren't able to to take any meals at the ryokan as my daughter is a strict vegetarian, and almost every dish had some sort of fish or fish broth. The front staff was very helpful, mapping out our sightseeing for us. We would definitely recommend this property to others.

Good for relaxation”
located in a quiet neighbourhood but far from the train station, ryokan is actually located near local attractions and Gion. just a 3mins walk out to the bus stop will get you to a few attraction spots by bus. facilities are good but dinner is not to our liking even though the portion is big. breakfast is fantastic.

Amazing Stay”
A wonderful ryokan experience. Staff were so attentive and helpful. We checked in and left to explore Gion and when we came back, our beds were all laid out for us. Bathroom was 10/10.

Perfect hotel, far from everywhere”
To experience a ryokan stay, this hotel is amazing. Go all out and get the food (breakfast + dinner) as well to truly enjoy the Japanese Ryokan experience, from the interesting bed/ futon style sleeping to their interesting shower/bathroom combinations. However, do note that this place is FAR from everywhere else. You'll need to take a 5 minute walk, then take a bus to get to the city center (around 10-15 mins), then switch to go to your intended destination.

Exceptional”
The ryokan quite far from train line but convy to come by bus and walk to the hotel. The environment is peaceful and they have a small garden and yukata for take a picture. The room is clean and comfy, has everything you need (lotion/ soup /hair dryer/ bath powder....etc). All staffs are so nice and communicate in English quite very well. The breakfast is tasty. it's light meal with japanese style. it's so beauty and neat.

Super relaxing stay”
Pros: - A superb ryokan, very well designed. Our room was at ground floor with direct access to the zen garden, so in the morning it was a delight to enjoy the sun in the garden - Very quiet surrounding, so a very good place to rest and contemplate. Cons: - Not so much options to eat around nearby so less practical if it is raining a lot, what happened one day of our stay. Still we managed to find something.

nice staff and big enough space ”
The location is nice and quiet (kyoto is a real tiny town and the hotel near a lot of bus station), room is the biggest during my japan stay. Staff is nice and helpful, can speak a little Chinese but not native speaker, so it’s better if you know some Japanese too. We booked a new year eve dinner here and it’s really good taste and laaaaarge quantity hahaha, we can barely finish the sashimi and need to take a long walk after that. After all it’s a nice experience stay here, hope can have a second visit chance (○ ‘ー’)ノ

Excellent”
Booked a room facing the garden and it was a first-time experience staying in a ryokan. Thank you to the receptionist, staff, and chef for preparing a wonderful dinner and breakfast for us which made the stay all the more cheery and pleasant. :) Do make time to step out into the garden at any time during your stay. Really liked the amenities here from the facial items, to the stool and bathtub inside the bathroom and lastly, the futon beds which were nicely made.

Exceptional”
It was a self-drive trip so priority was parking. Parking is just opposite the hotel with their own private parking space. We need to pass the car key to them for them to shift the car as and when needed. A very comfortable stay at the ryokan with all necessities provided.

Dear Gina, thank you so much for your stay at our place and leaving us a review. We hope you had wonderful Ryokan experience at our Ryokan.
Unforgettable experience!”
While it was quite a journey with a combination of train and bus to travel to the ryokan from Osaka, it sure was a worthwhile trip! The Guest Relationship Officer always wore a smile and prepared a note with directions to get to a tourist spot. The waiter Mari provided lots of educational information to explain the Kaiseki dinner... and the Kaiseki dinner was just elaborate and opulent. Prepared by an experienced chef using lots of local produce with dedication and attention to details. Breakfast was just as sumptuous.... As it’s a new building, the facilities are very new and yet retain some traditional elements. Worth considering to stay again should we return in future!

good experience”
First time staying at Ryokan. It is a must try experience. Our booking includes Kaiseki dinner and the breakfast. The dinner portion was excellent, like 6-course degustation, and it was really good, except one dish was a bit salty. We had lobsters, scallop, prawns, abalone, and many other dishes. We also used the private onsen, which you need to book in advance; it was easy to book at the reception. For breakfast, it was again multi-course meal and I was very surprised for the big portion. Overall, it was a good experience. The only drawback was the location is not very central, but it was a good place to stay if you are going to explore the Higashiyama area.

Modern and clean but so-so location”
Location was a little out of nowhere, but the room was new, modern and well-equipped. Overall a good Ryokan experience if you're looking to try something different.

Excellent place for people of all ages”
The room had a great garden view. The room had everything we could ask for to experience Japanese Ryokan feeling. I would defiantly go back there.

Wouldn't recommend”
This place was very clean and nice that they had the rooftop baths which you privately book and use, but still dont think sadly can recommend. We booked it as wanted to have a 'ryokan' experience without spending the big bucks, but honestly it felt like a fake motel trying to be a ryokan (which is of course exactly what it is!). Location wise also in the middle of no where and so incredibly hard to get to and from and for dinner was a nightmare trying to find somewhere. Would 100% just say if you want an ryokan experience, cough up the extra money and do it properly, or if not just stay in a lovely hotel in Gion (Granbell recommenced) which costs less and much nicer! Considering hotel was empty, staff were not helpful at all in assisting with allowing early check in/late check out, which with a quiet hotel and being 6 months pregnant was a bit of a joke. They seemed nice but not accommodating which made it fall short
