Beautiful hotel as advertised”
This hotel is as beautiful as the advertised photos. It is in a relatively quiet area that's easily accessible by the local Hakone Tozan bus. There is also a shuttle bus service to/from the Hakone-Yumoto train station. The hotel room is big, clean and has a minimalistic look to it. The beds are very comfortable. The private onsen can fit two adults easily. The service from the hotel staff is impeccable. From the moment you arrive at the hotel, the hotel staff will greet you at the door and provide you with a small snack before you check into your room. The meals were good, not great -- we preferred the breakfast over dinner (perhaps we're not used to the traditional Kyoto style -- though the fish we had was slightly overcooked). Overall, this is a very nice place to go and relax. I would recommend this hotel to couples for a romantic getaway.
Best hotel ever!!”
We stayed in the standard double room with private open air bath, soooooo amazing and it has a separate shower room that you can get a forest view! Exceptional experience! Everything is newly updated and the room is very big! You can enjoy your own private hot spring. The staffs there also have exceptional customer service. The girl who served us dinner saw me didn’t eat much and my face looked pale (I was having very bad jet lag and that gave me bad stomachache) so she offered to provide us room service and gave me medicine and food I wanted to eat. So considerate and really care about the customer. I’m so grateful for their service! The dinner and breakfast are Japanese style cuisine, which have very great quality and look pretty! Also, the hotel location is super convenient, it’s literally at Deyama stop on the H bus line, the longest line that you can go to most places in Hakone! Highly recommend you to try this hotel, you won’t regret, it worths every single penny.
Amazing but slightly ruined”
We can't fault the hotel or the staff all amazing, the best infact. Our stay was ruined by an extremely noisey guest next door shouting and laughing in their private outdoor bath. We waited until midnight then call reception who came to our room to assess the noise then proceeded to speak to the room next door. I feel this sort of behaviour could be policed by the staff by doing a small walk around the hotel occasionally. Due to this issue I did not feel I got value for money. If I had be able to speak better Japanese is have asked for compensation. Other than our issue it was perfect. Top tip: Get a Hakone access pass to use the local bus service as it's VERY expensive.
Great Property in a perfect location and ambiance ”
We were treat as a real "customer is the king" from the first time we stepped in to the ryokan. We were enjoying the politeness and the ambiance and helpful staffs. The only problems we faced was english speaking staffs, so it is not easy to communicate with. Eventhou we stayed only 1 night, it's very impressive and wish us to come back again some day.
Great room, excellent food and impeccable service. The location is beautiful, but a little inconvenient; you have to take the shuttle down to the train station to get the train to go back up towards Gora. If you're the kind of person who likes to do a morning walk before breakfast you won't find a place to walk directly from the ryokan, and it's not possible to get all the way down to the river. Would be wonderful if they had some local walking paths.
Nice private hotel”
This is a fairly new hotel, so there's no question about the room and the facility, all very nice The view from the private bridge is breathtaking. And the staff are very friendly and can speak English . I think the food can be improved, too many cold dishes, and no " wow" factor. The public onsen's view is a little disappointing, it's located at the corner of the hotel. Otherwise, quite a nice stay for couples who want some privacy. By the way, I would recommend a higher price room, the standard room has limited view.
Can't wait to go back. This place was amazing. Worth the price tag. probably the best hotel I've ever been in. We didn't want to leave I have a lot of dietary restrictions and the staff was incredibly accommodating to our dinner. All the food was amazing
Super hotel and service”
Super hotel and service. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The only thing to be aware of would be drinks with dinner were extortionate (£14 for a glass of wine) but otherwise a thoroughly delightful stay.
Beautiful and relaxing”
We came here as a group of 6 (3 couples) as the last leg of our trip. What an amazing experience! The hotel is immaculate, the staff incredibly attentive, the food delicate and delicious and the room/onsens are out of this world! We all wished we could have stayed for a week! The experience was one of a kind and a memory I will take with me forever. Although it was expensive it was worth every dollar spent. I can't wait to come again!
A lovely 5 star Ryokan that is catered to international visitors! However too many Chinese Tourists!!!
Front desk staff was excellent. We have visited Japan and traveled throughout the country during 25 or more trips to Japan and have never written a negative review of any ryokan until today. Not worth the $700 for one night stay. Throughout ryokan and in our room there was burning incense (smell in the room was intense and triggered an asthma attach). No hot water in shower after running hot water for 10 minutes. Individual furo on outside terrace and shower located outside room on outdoor terrace (so cold shower was extremely cold in winter) Dinner was extremely disappointing. The printed menu did not coincide with the actual food. For example the chawan mushi (custard) was savory but had lumps of potato and no ginko nut and was topped by a carmel crust; the single tempura was tepid and soggy with oil with no uni (menu said it was topped with uni). The clear broth soup had a large lump of congealed fish paste which was tasteless. Restaurant staff rude.
Really great experience, wish we couldve stayed longer”
The overall experience was good, though the hotel is isolated in the mountains but was convenient to arrive with a 5-10min ride of bus. The service was great, room facilities were up to expectation with really good quality of food. Overall we will recommend this hotel for others to try out too.
Relaxing, excellent hotel for a couple”
Excellent service. Other than shutter bus, many buses can arrive the hotel. There has a bus, route L, outside of the hotel, directly access to Gotemba Premium Outlet (bus schedule: 9:10am and 1:45pm). It takes about 1 hour to the outlet. The food are grand, but not really delicious; actually, it is very personal.
We booked the hotel for 1 night and ended up staying 2. The room was amazing the staff top notch, location perfect! We loved it and hope to return next year.
Excellent and memorable stay”
Very good service, good location. The hotel has bridge just for private use. Bus stop just right outside the bridge, the westbound bus stop was little hard to notice (hiding fr the tree). Score 10/10 for breakfest and dinner. Excellent staff service as well as the general environment. Definitely will stay next time if I will come again.
Pleasant but lack details ”
Travelled as a group of four and stayed one night during lunar new year. Decoration and colour coordination at the place seems unfinished , with a lack of details that one would expect from a high end ryokan. Many Taiwanese staff works there ( who are dedicated to please the customers ) but makes me feel more like in a hot spring hotel in Taiwan rather than a premium ryokan in Japan. Soaking in the private onsen overlooking the bamboo forest is relaxing but the water is not as hot as regular onsen ( though I can turn on the tab but I didn't bother as unsure if that's spring water or just tap water ) . Forget About the public bath if you have private onsen in the room as the setup n size is only marginally different . Ingredients of the food is fresh but lack in presentation . For similar price range , strongly prefer Gora hanaougi - which I stayed a few months ago . In summary , this place is not value for money and will not be back .
Room condition is so good very new The private wooden hot spring in room is comfortable and water temperature is hot enough. Dinner at a restaurant and facing the snowy view, it’s so romantic and relax. Food is nice and authentic .
Private hot spring was amazing but restaurant service could have been better”
Overall this is a great place to stay. We enjoyed the privacy very much and the hot spring on the private patio was unparalleled. Totally worth the price. The restaurant staff were very nice but could have been a bit more attentive. And the location is nice but is not walkable to town which is a shame. However I would absolutely stay again!
Relaxing hot spring, awesome food!”
The two meals, particular the dinner, were really amazing. In room hot spring on the balcony next to bamboos were ideal. Amenities in room is very considerate (for lady guest). Will definitely come back and stay longer.
I am in love with this place. Private onsen with very delicious dinner n breakfast! Its worth the price!!
