An old style Japanese hotel - good for family travel which we should book 1 room instead of two room for 4 Good Japanese feel about their lifestyle Excellent environment - no outside shoes allow beyond the front entrance - good concept to keep the hotel clean
It's not a good choice in takayama”
1. First of all, hotel is abt 2km away from takayama station, we arrive the station around 540pm, hotel said their shuttle bus need to reserve and the end time is 530pm, we have to take 2 taxi to hotel the fee is 2000yen. 2. Hotel dinner end at 5:00pm in the afternoon, when we arrived there at 6pm, the their restarant had closed, we need to walk back to city centre to have dinner. 3. Room is not clean enough, we found stinkbug in the room. 4. In the morning, the free shuttle to station end at 10:00am, if you leave hotel after 10:00am, you need to pay the shuttle fee. So I don't think it's a good choice in takayama, next time I will stay near the bus station.
Nice ryokan with friendly owner ”
This is second time I stayed in this ryokan. Old ryokan with onsen facility. The owner is very nice and helpful. A bit far from city centre but as I drove it is not an issue at all. Highly. Recommended.
If u like Japanese tatami style..u will like it. couple onsen +near hide village+shuttle bus station”
Pro: + japanese tatami big room and good view + private onsen for couple/family + walking distance to beautiful hidden village + shuttle bus to station. Cons: - We late and they Not willing to wait us another 10min from station. we need take taxi from station to hotel which cost us 850yen. - Not much activities around the hotel at night . No restaurant .
lovely and affordable ryokan”
I was a bit apprehended when I noticed that there is only shared bath available. However, i was pleasantly surprise to find that the shared bath is clean and well managed like those paid public bath/onsen. Although the location is a bit out of town, I enjoyed the serenity.
Great ryokan - nice and cozy”
The ryokan was about 10 minutes away from the train station and center of town, but there is a bus that takes you right at the bottom of the ryokan's hill. They have electric bicycle for rent at the ryokan which made a great way to explore the town. The bath was clean and big, with one family bath as option.
Good hotel for enjoying holiday”
The staff were very nice, they drove customers to the train station when you leave which save 200yen and time to wait for bus. Location was not convenient but had nice view and it was close to a sightseeing place "Hida no sato" by within 10 mins walk.
The Ryokan for your Relaxation”
Even the hotel is outside the city by walking around 15-20 minutes, but you will enjoy the room, the bath and the food which are Japan authentic. The ryokan make you feel relaxation. It is proper for a person who would like to escape the crowd.
nice place to get a japnaese ryokan experience for relatively cheap price...shared bath but my room had a private toilet and sink...very comfortable and the staff were nice...meal plans are available for about 3000 yen more (if you want the complete ryokan experience)...it's a bit far from the station though about 30 minutes by walking...but it is close to the main attraction hida no sato village...and there are buses that go there from the station from about 10 am to 5pm...if you can find something not too much more expensive, i'd find a place closer to town..since i don't think most of the ryokans in the lower price range would differ too much from one another...pretty good place though if you don't mind the distance from the station
great location near hida folk village, excellent food”
don't miss set dinner. it is absolutely delicious, outstanding value for money
Not quite I expect the Ryokan used to be. It is located quite far away from the station. Hence you need to contact the owner to come and pick you up. Since it is out of town, not a lot going on in the proximity in terms of food and drinks. We need to walk down the hill to a Seven 11 to get some food. It is an experience, but once is enough for us. The host was good, but I think it can be even better.
Will stay again”
Location: Fairly good. Amenities: Good and clean public bath area. we had a family room meant for 5 people with attached toilet. Room was large, very spacious and clean. Love the yukata, bath towels and split toe socks. Staff: friendly and helpful, spoke just enough English to be able to communicate comfortably. Parking: Free private parking. Breakfast: Good! Overall, loved our stay here .. will stay again should we come back to Takayama.
Hotel on the hill”
Some of the rooms are having nice night view. The room is large and spacious and toiletries are adequate. The onsen is a bit too small. Having shuttle bus services in the morning but recommended to self-driving to here anyway.
Quiet, Serene & Relax”
The ryokan is located quiet far from the Takayama city but the owner is quite a nice guy to transfer us to Takayama Station even though is not there fixed schedule. Very helpful and kind. The room is quite big and really a place to relax and enjoy the serenity of the location, if you looking for a place that is quiet and near to nature. Is near to the Hida Folk Village and teddy bear cafe / museum. If you plan to walk to the Ryokan, is about 20 min away from Takayama Station. With heavy luggage, is not recommended. Another option is to keep your luggage at the station where some cafe or bus station providing some lockers services to keep your luggage for max of 3 days. With that, you can walk with you few days clothing. Overall stay was nice.
Very good stay”
Traditional hotel with comfortable rooms and very helpfull staff. It is located a little far from the center of Takayama, but with good connection (public or hotel bus), or even if yoy don't mind to walk, twenty minutes far. If we would go back to Takayama we would book again here.
Wish we could stay more”
We received a personal excellent service from the owner and great help with everything. The room was spacious (including several areas for sleeping, eating and storage) and the yukatas we received made our children very happy. The private onsen is a thrill since you enjoy a total privacy and all the needed facilities and accessories. Located near Hida Takayam ancient village in a very beautiful natural surroundings.
A great relaxing place with excellent service”
The owner picked us up from the station, he speaks good English. The dinner there was delicious and Japanese breakfast was also a great experience for us! The last day of our stay, we were thinking to go somewhere before our 1:30pm train. The owner offered to keep our luggage in the ryokan, and delivered to the train station for us at 1:10pm, which was a very kind offer to help us! We all enjoyed our stay there and I'm sure any of you would!
The room and onsen were well-kept and clean. There were plenty of information on shuttle bus timing available as well, which helped us greatly. The hotel is located near Hida no Sato and Teddy Bear Museum. However, it is quite far away from convenience store. In comparison to hotels near Takayama station, the hotel is situated in a much quieter location with lesser attractions. It also means that the stay there is quite peaceful for us, as we had a good rest in the hotel and the onsen. Recommended.
Appreciated the traditional Japanese experience”
We were very happy to stay at Ryoken Murayama. We booked it to experience a traditional Japanese inn and were happy we did so. The hotel offers a very easy transfer from the station, rooms are reasonably basic but authentic and comfortable, bathing facilities are communal but I had them to myself while staying and they were very clean - appreciated the large hot bath in particular. We took breakfast which was western style and very good, taken in the traditional Japanese dining room which again was a worthwhile experience. The owner is super friendly, speaks good English, offers tourist attraction guidance and is obviously used to explaining how the inn worked to foreigners. Overall a very happy stay.
