Absolutely stunning!”
I have traveled to Japan on a couple of occasions now and have seen and experienced so many beautiful things, but this Ryokan is by far my favourite place I have every stayed anywhere! The staff were exceptional and helped me with whatever I needed, the location up on the hill provided spectacular evening views from my room with the sounds of the shrine hidden across the road, and its proximity to that gardens was a lovely (albeit a little steep) walk. The breakfasts were out of this world, different each day and so exquisitely presented, next time I will book in for dinner too! Kanazawa holds a special place in my heart now, and I'm sure staying here had a lot to do with it.

Lovely traditional ryokan”
Our stay at Ryokan Ryokusone was fantastic. The staff were lovely and attentive and really went out of their way to give the best service possible. Everything about the ryokan is great, the size and comfort of the beds are a real plus point! We also loved the Aesop toiletries they had in the room. The location is a bit out of the way (about a half hour walk to the centre of town) but if you’re planning on chilling out then this is perfect.

Posh Ryokan Experience for Special Occasion”
This a newer ryokan that feels very high end (which is expected with the price tag). We stayed there for our last night in Kanazawa so we didn't leave to see any attractions, but we did take a taxi there and then back to the train station, so I can't say how convenient it would be to stay there for sightseeing. The dinner was excellent so that helps to justify the price. The room was beautiful and had nice views too.

Phenomenal ”
The staff were exceptional and lovely! They were helpful and went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our stay in Kanazawa and even took the time to teach us Japanese customs. The food experience was one of the best we have had in Japan.

Wonderful retreat”
Excellent ryokan, traditional meets uber cool. I had a gorgeous room, great views, wonderful bathroom, terrific traditional breakfast. Staff were excellent with good english. So nice to be given the key to my room without even saying my name. Not cheap, but I don't mind when you get real service and quality. Dinner was very good, wish I had paid for it through Agoda booking as much cheaper. Only negative is tradtional screen do not keep light out on east facing window, so bring your eyemasks.

Once in a lifetime experience ”
Do yourself a favour, splash out and stay here. Choose the Japanese room, add the dinner option, wear the kimono / yukata, don’t turn on the television, have multiple baths, and just enjoy the beauty and immersiveness that is this ryokan!

not a ryokan experience”
very beautiful, luxurious small hotel. but you don't get the ryokan experience (futons, onsen). the food was very good and impressive. excellent beds and shower. not sure if its worth the money. perhaps an hotel at a better location + kaiseki dinner at a restaurant would be cheaper. there are no dark blinds, so bring your eye cover.

Tranquil, authentic luxury ”
We stayed in this ryoken only one night but felt pampered from the initial pick up to the time we got into a taxi. The staff have limited english but go out of their way to ensure a wonderful stay. We booked a japanese room for the experience and were not disappointed. The room was clean, quiet, and had everything we needed. The spa/bathroom was beautiful and the bed on the floor was very comfortable along with several mod cons (mostly hidden away to preserve authenticity). The room was large compared to many japanese hotel rooms. The restaurant did not offer dinner but we requested a nice place in town and had a wonderful exclusive kaiseki udon meal. The breakfast at the Ryoken was different to what we are used to, but all fresh and delicious with a wonderful atmosphere looking over the hills. We walked to town from there and back which was easy, and only about 20 minutes with limited hills. We wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy it more, but had to get to our next adventure.

High end ryokan without much character”
This was supposed to be the highlight of our Japan trip, given what we paid (one night + dinner + breakfast). Full marks for the staff, high quality accessories in the room, exquisite dinner and breakfast. But .. this is a ryokan without character. There are no common areas where one can "feel" Japanese. If it were not for the tatami on the floor of the room, this could be any high-end hotel room in Japan. In a ryokan, I expect to eat sitting of the floor, sleep on futons spread out on the tatami and have a Japanese garden as a background for the breakfast. All this was not there. A high-end ryokan without much personality or character.

A truely memorable experince”
On our first trip to Japan, we wanted to stay in a Ryoken to get the full experience. and boy did we get it. It isn't the easiest location to access but a cheap taxi ride from the train station made it simple enough. A lovely staff member greeted us at the door, and we walked into a traditional but modern inn. It was beautiful! We were greeted with Tea and sweets in what I can only describe as a beautiful tranquil room, with a beautiful view. The staff were really helpful in organizing taxis for us as we didn't get the dinner option (I wish I had though!) and us not speaking any Japanese was not a problem. The bathroom was lovely, as was the comfortable futons. The breakfast was out of this world, so beautifully presented and tasted as good as it looked. The staff certainly made our stay all the more special, we felt welcomed and cannot wait to stay here again.

Excellent”
Beautiful hotel. A bit expensive, but had an artisan feel. Breakfast was gourmet, didn't try the dinner because of the price, but I think it would have been delicious.

Luxurious indulgence”
Japanese-style hotel but not fully traditional. No tatami or sitting on floor. Lovely rooms, full mod cons. But the food is fabulous! Nine courses of Japanese haute cuisine the likes of which I had never seen, served to you alone in a tiny private dining room with panoramic view. Fabulous.

Beautiful accommodations ”
Staff was very friendly and helpful and the rooms are meticulous. Beautiful view and large rooms with comfortable bed and great bathroom! It is far from everything and we didn't have dinner there due to the steep cost so that was the only annoying thing.

Stunning Food and smiley staff”
The staff were outstanding and so friendly and always smiling. The food was out of this world! I've never seen such beautifully presented food which was also totally delicious. However we did miss the fact that we couldn't sit in the garden (no chairs) and there's no area to sit and read a book after a day exploring. You have to stay in your room. We were very happy to move into a Western style room as we were keen for a few hours to sit and read, something that us westerners struggle with on a tatami floor. Would recommend to friends for a couple of nights.
