Spacious, great service and scenic location.”
The ryokan was one of the most memorable place from the trip. A breezy walk through Hakone-Yumoto through the small town and river, our room for 4 was equipped with an extremely comfortable Kotatsu, where we spent the night chilling with beer and snacks from a nearby convenience store. You don't even need the in-hotel meals as nearby there are a lot of restaurants including some famous soba restaurants and a very affordable yakiniku (BBQ) place. Especially great for young travellers who enjoy walks along beautiful Hakone. The only minor complaint is that the onsen could be bigger and could provide more amenities like massage chair and bathing area. Overall still an extremely pleasant experience. Special mention to the manager who drove us to the station on our check-out morning even before the scheduled shuttle time, as it was raining outside and taxi was hard to get.
Interesting hotel near river”
The hotel has family rooms, is located on hill at side of fast flowing stream with very peaceful surroundings. The hot spring pools were quite good and interesting restaurants nearby if you walk for 5-10 mins.
Convenient and good hotel!”
Overall review for the hotel is good, except that visitors with large luggage will have to take note that there are no lifts/elevators to the upper floors. There are 2 types of lodging, Western Suite (Twin or Double beds) or Japanese suite (Tatami).
Good location and Comfort”
Very great of hotspring. The amentities is very good and comfortable. But the restaurant is few of choice. I don't like the chef of ramen house because he can't understand in English and not enough of food to order. He's so confuse about English language.
We are glad we have stayed in Ryokan Shenkei during our visit to Hakone. its a great Ryokan. We should have opted in the meals. Nonetheless its a great stay for us, great onsen, great staffs, great rooms clean and spacious. Thanks
Hotel is surrounded by natural stream and bridges, an excellent place to stay. Great location by the main train station. Excellent kaiseki meals for dinner. The staff was very friendly and the room very big for Japanese standards.
Two nights stay with friends. We had our own private onsen which was excellent for privacy. The onsen offered a great view of the surrounding beauty in Hakone. Kaiseki dinner was delicious. Futons were setup for us while we had our dinner. Good service. The hotel itself is near the main train station. So it is very convenient.
Relax and comfortable hotel”
The hotel is located just a few minutes walk from the Hakone Yumoto station. The staff are very polite, friendly and helpful. The hotel provides both indoor n outdoor onsen. The room is huge n comfortable. The hotel also provides free shuttle bus to Hakone Yumoto station. But there is no WiFi in the hotel room. The WiFi is only available at hotel lobby which is closed at 11pm.
Stayed at the Senkei Plaza, not the Ryokan”
Room was spacious, about the size of a one bedroom apartment in Japan. Bathroom was really tiny. Nothing fancy or outstanding about the Plaza side (unlike the Ryokan side) but is was clean and comfortable. Amazingly we had a decent view from our window. The sound of the rushing river right outside soothed us to sleep, if you don't like that sound all night long ,you shouldn't stay here.
Absolute Bliss! Ryenken Seiko is fantastic!”
I had a blissful stay at Ryenken Seiko, the wonderful lady at the information desk at the station was so helpful and was able to guide us to the hotel immediately after mentioning the name of our hotel with no problems at all, as we made our way to the hotel we got a glimpse of the Sunkon Renkon which was amaizing, a must see in Hakone! Hotel staff were great as were the rooms! Onsens were absolute bliss!
Very spacious and great hot spring outdoor”
walking distance to Hakone Yamato station. Though we were instructed the wrong way by Google map, we should not be walking up hill. The hot spring was great and we had a great dinner at the restaurant next to the hotel. The room size is huge in Japan standard.
Stayed 1st time with adult son (Loved the room. 2nd time (alone) not as much. However, Love everything about this place going again very soon. Hope to get nice room again. Bath Facilities Great too!! Thank You
comfortable hotel with friendly staff”
The hotel is located near hakone yumoto station (around 10mins walk). Nice and refreshing scenery on the way to train station. The staff is very friendly and attentive, also can speak english fluently. The hotel is very clean and cozy, will definitely stay here again if i come back to visit hakone :)
Good, Going back to the Edo Era, Relaxing”
My stay in Hotel Senkei was nice, with the Onsen in another building (2mins away). The rooms were a little old, but you can truly experience the peace, quietness of the house and area. As the room was a traditional Japanese style room, it was a little too big and "creepy" for 2 person to stay in. I will suggest people who are interested to stay in such houses/rooms to have more people sharing it. It will get a little scary at night...haha While for the traditional dinner and breakfast, it was a little too much because there are simply too many dishes! The food's quality was average.
Onsen with a view”
Friendly reception, great dinner set served in your room, large room where family can be togther and rest as pleased. Onsen is cleaned and outdoor onsen is a must. Not far to walk from station and plentry of shopping to do along the way. A great place to stay and explore hakone.
The staff were very helpful when we had difficulty locating the accomodation. The room was large and the bed was comfortable and shower good. The restaurant for dinner was very good and reasonably priced.
Clean and spacious”
Contrary to some negative reviews concerning dirty and dilapidated rooms, which worried us much before we arrived at the hotel, we found that the opposite is true. Indeed, we found almost everything of this hotel, including its location, staff, room, onsens, etc. rather good for the money. My only complaints are: 1. The tatami area of the Western-Japanese style room we stayed is 2 inches above the surrounding floor, thus I kicked on the edge from time to time. It hurt! 2. The public bathroom on 1/F is very stuffy and no iced water or tea is served there.
Friendly with family traveler ”
My son loves this hotel so much, friendly staffs with good presentation of hotel facilities
good onsen ”
will come back again
This is the best place we have stayed and experienced. The services and the food are the best of all”
I could not pick any faults of the services and food this hotel provided. The location is only 10 mins talk to the station but first time arrive to the station it is necessary to take the local shuttle bus to the hotel otherwise it is difficult to find. Once you know the location it is very convenient.
