Amazing!!! 10/10”
Such a great experience. I highly recommend this place. I stayed 4 nights as solo female traveller. Was warmly welcomed, fed better then I have been for a long time and had a overall fantastic experience. Can't rate high enough. Get there: Took the train from Hanoi to Lao Cai (approx $40), took bus from Lao Cai to Bac Ha ($3), then I called the number on the booking and Sa picked me up right away. Get around: Highly recommended hiring a motorcycle - $8 / day. I had never ridden before but it couldn't have been easier. Roads are easy to ride and not too busy, Sa has a big map and just get an idea of where u want to go before heading off. Food: Sa's wife makes yummy food! I'm a vegetarian and they catered for me no issue. You def won't go hungry! What to do: I originally went for the Bac Ha market, but was not overly impressed. Very busy and sellers get cranky if you don't buy. Can Cau Saturday market a must!! And take your camera!! After the somewhat stressful experience that was Hanoi, this was a fantastic break. Things to consider: LOTS of mosquitos! Bring spray! The food is amazing and cheap, but just confirm what your paying for so its not a surprise when you check out. If your a light sleeper then you may want to bring ear plugs - the chickens, dogs and cats can be noisy (although I'm usually a light sleeper and had no issues, I put it down to the country air). All in all, fantastic and I will definitely be back!!

Moon Festival Stay”
We were delighted with our two night stay at Sa Guest house. Sa collected us from Bac Ha without hassle and made sure we were settled in and freshened up before discussing options with us for our time in the area. He suggested a nearby market, which we visited on motorbikes, that he organised at short notice for us. We dined at Sa House on both nights, knowing that there was a charge of 120 000 Dong per person from previous reviews. We also knew that there was a 60 000 Dong charge for breakfast, again from other reviews. This possibly could be an issue if you were not aware of the charges, but we were happy to support Sa and his family and were happy with all the meals we had there. (My wife and I are vegetarian, but our son is not) A leaflet outlining the costs in each room outlining various items would a great idea and assist with budgeting. On the last night, Sa's wife provided additional traditional food, which we were invited to share, to celebrate the full moon festival, along with some local corn wine. (the night before we had sampled some local plum wine and both were delicious!) On our second day I went for a walk to the end of the valley (highly recommended, but wear good shoes and take some water with you!) As I was returning, via a detour (in the other direction) a motorbike passed me in the fading light, only to return and collect me, it was Sa, come to find me! If you are looking for a traditional home stay and a piece of rural Vietnam, away from the hustle and bustle, Sa's House is the place to stay! Don't forget to ask Sa about his recommendations for a home stay in Sapa too!

Excellent experience with Sa and hos family ”
On arriving in Bac Ha by bus a restaurant owner asked us if we had booked at Sa's house and then phoned Sa who promptly arrived on his motorbike and transported our packs to his house. Before leaving Sa pointed the way to his house and said if we had any problems just ask someone as everybody knows him. Sure enough we did ask a few people on the 1K walk to confirm we were on the right track and the all knew where we were going and pointed us the right way with beaming smiles. When we got to Sa's house he directed us to a lovely wooden room with an authentic feel to it. Sa's house is in a small village 1K walk from Bac Ha market and was more like a homestay than a guest house. Sa and his family are increadibly welcoming and very friendly. Sa sat and chatted with us for an hour or two after dinner and told us about his village/tribe which was really interesting. I highly recommend staying at Sa's house if you want an authentic village experience with lovely hosts. Had our visa not been about to run out we would have stayed longer. Ben & Kellie

Friendly host, lovely farm”
Sa is very friendly. The rooms are lovely and new. We love the homegrown vegetables and plums. Sa's family whipped up excellent dishes for dinner for 150k dong per person. The location is not too bad and one can take a nice walk to Ban Pho nearby. The view was amazing! It would be good to arrange transport from Lao Cai station as the prices quoted by the private minibus touts can be at least 4 times the prices of public bus available just outside the station. Also, due to Bac Ha Sunday market, the private minibus we took was not able to drive to Na Hoi and we had to walk a few km with our luggages.

A Wonderful Experience”
Our stay was memorable! Mr Sa and his family are wonderful people and made us feel like members of their family. I am 67 years old and sharing a bathroom and shower room with other guests was not an issue - the facilities were always clean and available. The food was fantastic - varied and well cooked. It was great to eat family style with the other guests - younger independent travelers. Sa House is like a stay at a homestay facility - much of our food came from Mr. Sa's garden. Although out in the country - I can not say that I even saw let alone encountered a single mosquito. The rooms have a mosquito net over the bed. The bed was very comfortable. Mr. Sa arranged transportation for my wife and I to attend the Saturday market in Can Cau and to our hotel in Sapa. He even provided transportation on the back of motorcycles down the hill to the Bac Ha Market on Sunday. We had walked it the night before but appreciated his offer the next day. It is one star rated based soley upon the availability of certain amenities however in terms of service, food, comfort, and value - it is a 5 star in my opinion.

Delightful family homestay in a beautiful setting.”
Sa is the original homestay entrepreneur in Bac Ha (he even gives back to the community by offering free trainings on how to start this kind of business), a kind-hearted man with a big vision about how to make tourism connected to real people and a community's lives. Since 2007 he has been building this oasis on the outskirts of Bac Ha. His wife and children are lovely and we enjoyed coming home to smiling faces. It is very clean, the food is delicious, we rented a moto here and explored the gorgeous countryside. Sa is one of the warmest and most friendly people we've met in Vietnam and he made our stay perfect. The rooms are simple but absolutely spotless and we were so grateful to have the chance to interact and spend time with local people. We wouldn't visit north Vietnam any other way. Thank you for your warm hearts and generosity.

Perfect Homestay/Hostel in Bac Ha !”
We loved it ! Sa is a great host. You will get the opportunity to talk to him openly on whatever you would like, he can cook for you (although not included. Be sure to ask prices in case you stay for a few days ;) ). And you can enjoy relaxing in his garden where his family cultivates and raises most of the food you then eat. Sa's house is very close to the Bac Ha market and to great viewpoints in the mountains nearby. And you can rent motorbikes if you want to go further in the mountains (not so cheap though). Overall : the rooms are great and authentic. Bathrooms are shared but kept clean very often. Great value for money ! Additional services such as diner, breakfast & bikes are a bit expensive but it really is worth spending some time with Sa to enjoy a meal & a drink to get to know more about him. We really enjoyed our stay and we would've liked to stay longer.

Excellent homestay with a very friendly owner”
A great homestay with traditional styled houses (raised on sticks). Sa (the owner) made the stay even better than it was - he was incredibly friendly, highly knowedgeable about the area and helped us with everything we needed to do (rent motorbikes, directions, suggested walking routes, histroy of the area). We were even invited to eat dinner and drink corn liquor with his family which was very pleasant. Sa was the first person to open a homestay in Bac Ha and generated a lot of business for the local community who copied his vision. Location, rooms, food all perfect. Highly recommended. A point to note - if you are arriving by bus, the bus stop is a couple of km's from Sa's house, so its worth calling ahead and he'll pick you up on his bike.

10/10”
Our stay at Sa's House was undoubtedly one of the biggest highlights of our trip to Vietnam. Sa and his family were the most humble and accommodating hosts. The rooms although basic, were very clean and cozy. For 150,000 dong Sa's wife cooked us a huge and exceptional dinner with many ingredients (including the chicken) coming straight out of their garden. We also really enjoyed how non-touristy Bac Ha was and how friendly all of the locals were. We even were invited into a few homes to try some homemade wine with them on our walk around the area. If you are travelling to Bac Ha, definitely stay at Sa's.

Very enjoyable homestay experience”
We really enjoyed our stay at Sa House Homestay in Bac Ha. We were there for two night leading up to Tet and found the colourful markets unique. Sa and his family were very accommodating and helpful towards our needs. We had breakfast and dinner at the homestay every day. Most of the food was homegrown and very well prepared. It was however, pricey, so budget travellers might need to make their own alternative meal arrangements. Transport during the Tet days proved a problem out of Bac Ha and the host, Sa arranged a private taxi to Sapa at $90 USD... ouch! Overall a very good stay.

Ok place”
Ok place, but neighbours are crazy and annoying: we stayed 2 nights and 2 neighbours seemed to do soundcheck competition. They were playing one song until late night again-again-again.And the sound wasnt melodic; symphony;) It was pretty cold in night Bac Ha, 11degrees, so we recommend to ask extra blanket, as we did our second night, because room itself is really cold, no electric blankets or any other heating... Dinner and lunch is expensive in Sa house, we had better experience in other homestay. Owner was very nice, helpful guy.

Great host and wonderful rural area”
The place is located near bac ha but no in city. The homestay is represented by few large homes with separated bedrooms. The atmosphere of homestay is really great and peaceful, surounded by rural neighborhood. The host is super nice guy very helpful. It is super clean, simple but very cosy. Only minus (we took the cheapest option) is that the rooms in our house were separated by walls but there were a lot of space in-between the roof and the walls so if the house will be full by others any noise will be easily noticed (we were lucky, we were alone) Anyway truly recommend palce

5 star experience”
Sa's house is no luxury hotel but it certainly offers a 5 star experience. The family is warm and very helpful and go out of their way to see to your needs, making your stay as comfortable as possible. The owner's wife also whips up simple but extremely delicious meals. Although their location is 15 minutes walk from the town centre and Bac Ha market, it offers you the peace and quiet of the mountains. Their vegetable garden and live animals in the front yard completes a refreshing experience of a mountain village life. Two thumbs up to Sa's house!

Charming family and lovely location.”
Mr. Sa and his family are the biggest selling point for a stay in the Sa's house. The rooms are cheap, but not so cheap when you consider that breakfast is 70,000d and dinner is 150,000, and the location is slightly removed from Bac Ha proper, making for great views and a pleasant sense of rural remove but something of a trek into town -- but the social setting, the laughter and conversation around dinner time and Sa's friendly, helpful personality, as well as those of his wife and children, made me feel welcomed in their house and gave me a firm base to return "home" to. I loved dinnertime and talking with Sa and other travellers, and conversations with Sa's son and feisty daughter. Sa's house is a good homestay and a great home.

Great family guesthouse”
Sa and his family were friendly and generous. The location was in a beautiful area 20 mins walk from Bac Ha (or a few mins ride if Sa drives you). Very clean rooms and shared bathrooms with comfortable beds and mosquito net. Helpful but not pushy advice about the area and sightseeing. Great home cooked dinner (mostly from their own vegetable garden) shared with other interesting travelers.

Lovely homestay, great food!”
This is a great place to base yourself at for seeing the markets and villages around Bac Ha. Sa, the owner speaks great English and will give you all the info you need without trying to sell you anything. The rooms are basic but comfortable enough. The bathrooms are shared but clean and the shower is hot! I would definitely recommend the set dinner that Sa offers at the home stay. It is 120,000 per person, you get so many different courses and so much food, you will feel it is worth it! It is so delicious!!

Quiet Stay in Beautiful Setting”
We're thankful to have spent part of our journey in Vietnam at Sa's House. He's a welcoming host and the location is secluded and away from the city, but yet still close enough for a little walk into town. Sa will make you at home offering home-cooked meals if requested & even motorbike rental to explore the area around Bac Ha.

A really nice Homestay”
We stayed two nights at Sa's house. I think mr. Sa and his family are the most friendliest people we've met at our trip through Vietnam. They serve great food are always in for a chat and a laugh. If you're looking for a decent hotel with a proper room: look somewhere else. If you're looking for a real nice homestay experience near the lovely toen of Bac Ha; don't look further! Ps try some of the homemade cornwine.

Good and friendly staff”
Stayed at many homestays before and this is a better one. There are small separate rooms with good beds and hot water showers witch you need during the cold season. The food is good and the staff friendly and helpfull. Its about 25 minutes walk from the Bac Ha sunday market. The only small thing is that the rooms are quite noisy but thats the case in most homestays in Vietnam.
