Sairee Beach hotels & places to stay

We had the best time at GD Hostel, met some great people and loved Koh Tao. The hostel is located at the far end of Sairee Beach (although that being said its no more than a 2 minute stroll to the beach and the string of bars / restaurants). As travellers we didn't want to spend every night partying on our trip, having said that we met such a good group of people that we spent most nights either having a quiet drink on the beach or partying till the small hours! There is laundry facilities just at the end of the road and the Samatha B&B next door does great breakfasts! The service we received was friendly and efficient, we couldn't have asked for more. The hostel is secure and each room has 2 adjacent toilets and showers for that room only. Rooms and facilities were cleaned daily.

This place was perfect to escape the noise and party crazies from Sairee Beach. Walking in the hot sun was not that great, but you can taxi to Sairee beach for 100 Baht, or you can rent a moped, or you can walk. The rooms were nice and clean- the a/c worked great, and did I mention it was quiet? A huge plus for being able to sleep in. Our room did only have one curtain on the sliding door-this was a problem especially at night when trying to get out of the shower-you sort of have to adjust the curtain so people can't see you below. Other than that, it was nice, the owners are friendly, you can do your laundry there as well, its cheaper than on Sairee beach itself. For the price, this place was excellent-the only other thing was the internet-if you have one laptop its cool cause you get the free wi-fi but if you have two people trying to use the internet then you have to pay extra. Overall a great place to stay. They've recently changed the name so our poor taxi driver took like 30 minutes driving us all over looking for it. **Bonus Tip** Tell the taxi to take you to the Simple Life Hotel-you can walk up the road from there, its about a 1 minute walk. If not, be prepared to get lost! The owner did say they were in the process of building a sign so it would be recognizable as its not directly on the road and you can drive by it and not even see it.

Excellent location on Sairee beach, with rooms just far enough from the beach so you cannot hear the music and sleep at night. Dorms are nice with comfy beds, clean sheets, dooner and towel. Attached bathroom is a huge bonus and AC is new. Attached Sunset Bar has a pool, happy hour all night long and free fire show. Staff are all nice, in particular Nai (both receptionist and barman). Overall great value for money for a totally chilled stay.

highly reccomended! myself & a friend first booked for 2 nights but ending up staying 6 nights because for us we had such a great experience here. we were in one nice basic big room for 2 nights we prebooked and after we asked to stay longer the owners upgraded us to an even lovelier (more expensive) fan room at no extra cost! hotel is just far enough away from the main strip (that can get quite loud during pub crawls) you could never hear any noise or think you were only 5min walk from the strip. i know many other places say it's 5minute walk from everything then when you get there its more like 15min taxi but sairee sea view is genuinely 5min walk down a small hill to the main little sairee beach town! the owners husband & wife are one of the most amazing couples we've met, they are so lovely and could not do enough for you. we don't think we can put into words how friendly they are! we felt like we were leaving our family by the time we left!

We stayed here for 3 nights, the location was perfect, in Sairee Beach but just far enough from the main beach path for it to be quiet! Literally a few minutes walk from the beach. The staff were friendly and we booked travel to PhiPhi plus a snorkelling trip through the hotel. We had a fan room for 3 people, each day we were given bottles of water and fresh towels, it was clean and there weren't any bugs, we didn't get bitten once. The bathrooms are shared, but only between 4 rooms and there were 2 toilets and 2 showers (powerful compared to other showers in Thailand!)- I never had to wait to use one.

Very nice location (basically in front of Sairee Beach, the main beach with all shops and restaurants) and amazing common areas: restaurant & bar, balcony with comfortable sofas and amazing rooftop pool with very comfortable beds and bean bags, super friendly bartender, pool table and a stunning view on the seaside (and the sunset)! We stayed in a private room with a very comfortable double bed, even thought the room and the toilet were a bit small for 2 people, with not a lot of space for clothes or bags. Also necessary to keep the room window open, otherwise the room gets a bit humid because of the shower. But the room was very silent, we had such great sleep, and the cleaning service was perfect everyday! Overall, we had a great experience at the Savage, met a lot of friendly people, had a great experience with the Savage staff and enjoyed our stay in Koh Tao! We highly recommend Savage for young and international people and couples!

We stayed in this hotel for four nights which were pleasant. The room was big and clean but they didn't empty the trash which still had an old plaster and tissues inside. But well. The towels and sheets were clean. Fan and shower were sufficient. It's rather spartanic but what do you really need. The bed was soft and comfortable. For the same money you would be able to stay at one of the bungalows of the main hotel which is a very tiny bit closer to the beach, but the hotel has two pools and one is open until 1 or even 3 am. If you're searching for a tranquil stay, go for Mountain View. It just takes 5 minutes more to the beach. In both hotels the staff was very friendly and helpful. Interestingly, if you book the hotel's snorkeling tour (just the same as all the other ones available on the island) via Mountain View rather than the one by the beach, it costs 50 baht less (700 instead of 750 p.p.). The tour was fun and we always arrived at the sites a good 10 to 15 minutes earlier than other boats, able to explore everything without kicking someone in the shin ever so often. We also good to feed tiger fish which was soo fun and a little bit scary. Just around the corner we booked a diving trip with FrenchKissDivers who were so very nice and welcoming. We didn't get to go on the trip bc my boyfriend got sick but they are very much worth checking out! (Prices for an introductory dive range between 1800 and 2000 throughout the diving schools. If you like it and decide to go for another dive in the afternoon, you always seem to pay 3000 baht in total for two dives. We checked with two other schools to compare prices.) They could arrange pick up at the pier if you tell them in advance. Should be around 200 baht per person. Normal taxis cost more. We walked to the hotel which took us about 40 minutes. It's very hilly so you may want to invest in that ^^ By the way, you can book other trips and also train and boat tickets through the hotel. Just ask :)

We loved our stay at Sairee Cottage and ended up extending our stay twice! We stayed in 3 different rooms, one being the beach bungalow for 2 nights and then the simple garden view rooms at the back for 7 nights. They were all great and super comfortable. The facilities are really what makes this place shine..The pool with swim up bar had a fantastic vibe and was really nice to chill in! The restaurant is the best on that strip in Sairee beach- had great food and the best view. The staff were exceptionally helpful and the location is fantastic. If you want to be near the action in Koh Tao, but still want a chilled, relaxed and unpretentious resort experience, then this is the place!

Having travelled around Thailand for over 1 month already, this hotel was our best yet and brilliant value for money. We stayed in a sea view bungalow which was spotless, probably the nicest place we have stayed so far. Great location, our room was near enough on the beach, safe walk to local bars but far enough away for it to be quiet. Breakfast was included which was great, we were given a menu each morning with a full list of items to pick from. Free pick up from the ferry pier, free beach towels in room, tv, good air con, only downside was not great WiFi. Highly recommend to anybody!!

This is our 3rd time to Ko Tao, first time staying at Sairee Sairee. I highly recommend! Great location in Sairee town (don't be too obsessed about staying in Sairee beach... it's only a 5 min walk away but accom. on the beach-front is terrible). The town is the heart of the place, always people floating about! Room: Clean / good air-con / good wi-fi... what more can I say? We asked for a room upstairs with a balcony but were put on the ground floor... we were so tired when we arrived we didn't care as we weren't spending much time there. However, I recommend asking for a room upstairs with the balcony as although there is a porch area on the ground floor, lots of mosquitoes. Run by a French couple (I think), they were quick to respond to e-mails which is always nice, although I never saw them during our 4 night stay. The restaurant is excellent and is full every night, I highly recommend you give it a try. I highly recommend this place and would happily return if we ever go back to Ko Tao.

I booked this hotel for one night and ended up staying for 8. For the price, I can't fault this hotel at all. The location is great: a two minute walk to Sairee beach and all of the restaurants and bars and shops in the town. The rooms are very minimal and look like New York lofts with exposed brick walls and concrete floors and a huge balcony. The showers are always hot and the cool air-conditioning is a welcome break from the heat of Koh Tao. The free breakfast is fantastic, with choices like pancakes, French toast and scrambled egg with a free tea, coffee or juice. The rooms are cleaned regularly and the Thai lady that runs the place is really friendly and willing to help. I've been travelling around SE Asia for over a month now and this is my favourite hotel so far.

This hotel is extremely new and it shows. Very clean and the staff is beyond helpful. They provide snorkel and diving tours at a good price, transport, laundry service and anything else you need. Location was ideal for us being two 23 year olds. Right in the middle of Sairee Beach only a 5 minute walk away from the bar strip, convenience stores and restaurants. It got a little loud at night if you’re trying to sleep, but just wear ear plugs!

Living Chilled was a great value for our time in Sairee Beach. It's close enough to our dive shop and the beach, but far enough from the party and noise. The staff was really nice and accommodating. It was nice to have a little balcony to dry clothes and relax. Although there wasn't much of a view. Just note that the staff doesn't replace the sheets when they clean the room. We also had to ask for extra toiletries as they were not replaced either. The TV didn't work but we had no use for it.

We toured many parts of Thailand for 5 weeks this fall and Koh Tao was our favourite island. We thoroughly enjoyed our 5 night stay at the Koh Tao Coral Grand Resort. The staff at the hotel were very helpful and the accommodations were clean and in a super location off the far end of Sairee Beach. Our hotel was quite at night but if you wanted to party then you only needed to walk down the beach to any of the bars located off Sairee Beach. We were also walking distance to any shops and restaurants which was very convenient. Our breakfast was also great with many selections to chose from. We upgraded our cabana to beachfront for the last two nights and this was worth it simply for the view of the beautiful bay. One of the best things about the location was the ability to just put your snorkelling gear on and swim out about 100 meters into the water where you can see plenty of coral, giant clams, octopus and fish. We would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Koh Tao.

Beautiful big clean bungalows in Sairee beach with AC, fridge, kettle tea coffee, tv and a nice terrace. Manager is a top man and you can buy all sorts or drinks do laundry and rent a bike. We booked two nights and ended up staying a total of five because it was so nice and relaxed. We rented a scooter to see the island but specially for the drive in and out of the bungalows as its a four hundred meter dirt track but don't be put off by it because the place is well worth it.

This hotel was amazing. We stayed in the mountain view hotel which had a view over the whole beach. It was about a 5 minute walk up the hill from the bottom of the hotel (at the beach) if you are fast at up-hill walking/stairs. The view and the tranquility was definitely worth it! And the value for money was just amazing. The hotel has 2 fantastic pools, both of which are usually used for scuba lessons during the day but allow for swimmers as well. The hotel has two great restaurants and two receptions and is totally accommodating for all. The room was massive, with a living room, bathroom and bedroom, 2 television sets, a DVD Player, 2 air-cons, dresser and lounge and balcony. Right on Sairee Beach and close enough to walk to Mae Haad (15minutes) and also the Sairee centre (5-10minutes). 24 Hour Ban's Convenience store and internet area area, plus free wifi anywhere in the hotel/its restaurants were a plus also. Tours and taxis/ferries can be booked easily and cheaply through the hotel, and of course scuba diving. Would definitely recommend and am going back asap!

Super close to Sairee beach (3 min walk) and also 5 min walk from main road where all the restaurants, bars and shops are. The hotel is very clean! They will clean your room everyday if you ask and they will swap towels and leave fresh water/coffee and tea bags. Fan and aircon functioning perfectly! And laundry service although it took a bit of time it was amazing ! They let us check in super early (7am) since they had a room already available, which was perfect since we were traveling all night long and were in desperate need of a shower and some rest. They kept our bags and let us shower on the day we left after the check out was already done ! Would definitely book again !

Location is great at the more quiet end of Sairee Beach, bungalows are simple, but ok, cleaned every day and received fresh towels, a little overpriced, especially because breakfast was not included although if you check on their website it says that it always is, staff was quite ignorant but the lady running the place did warm up to us at the end, she organized an amazing boat trip for a great price for us, let us take a shower in her back room so we could save the late check out fee and even got us a free taxi to the fairy pier. Wifi connection was poor, but seemed to be like it on the whole island. Another a bit annoying fact is that there are a lot of dogs, which are friendly and they love going for a swim with you, but they would start barking like hell broke loose several times in the night. Other than that we had a great time on Koh Tao.

Sun Smile is hands down, no questions asked, a 10 out of 10. We stayed three nights and from the moment of our arrival received a phenomenal service. Cha and his staff are lovely, wonderful people. Pleasant, smiling and friendly - always willing to lend a hand to help out. You will receive no better value anywhere in Thailand. We were welcomed into the office upon arriving, offered a refreshment and shown the local area on a map with dining options, diving advice, tour options (options, I say, nothing ever felt sold or pressured to us), and activities. We were provided a map printout and local guide book and given a background of the island. We introduced ourselves once and were called by name the duration of our stay. The rooms were clean and relatively updated, tidied daily, with trash emptied, bed made, etc. Tea, coffee, and water was provided free of charge, the room was sizeable, with a balcony, bright and inviting. The location is near the main intersection at Sairee Beach with taxi boat service right across the street - one of the guys even walked us down to make the introductions! Beach towels were provided so we wouldn't need to use our room towels, book selection is available for reading, and the staff were extremely helpful with our transportation questions and the best options for onward travel. Cha even went over with me what to expect for my flight out of Bangkok which was over a week away, giving me approximate expected costs and travel times among other tips. I would 100% recommend Sun Smile to any traveller. Hands down one of the best experiences in over 15 years of travelling the globe. Amazing people, good clean place, nice locale, unbelievable value for the cash.
