Best value ever”
This was my second stay here. Again I took the small bamboo hut which is basic but good, except when it rains. I love the sounds of nature, the beautiful river views completed with elephants every afternoon at 1:30 and the included breakfast with good coffee.
I liked it, my partner didn't.”
I liked the place. It is all outdoorsy and nature-y. Very calming. We stayed in the bamboo room which is super cute. There is only a bed, but that is enough for me. I enjoyed sitting in the sitting area outside the room. Very relaxing. My girlfriend, on the other hand, disliked the mosquitoes and the lack of air-conditioning. Note that this place is pretty out of the way. We rented a car so it wasn't an issue for us. If you drive here, the place is near the wampo viaduct. We got lucky and managed to see the train go by.
Relaxing”
After the madness of Bangkok I needed some rest so I booked the Sayok River House. Bad things first: I booked and paid for a double room and got a single room. The last night there was a storm and the bamboo hut was leaking in several places. WiFi signal was not great, there are several routers but they are not set up correctly. But I can't really complain because I got my money's worth. The place is in a beautiful jungle setting with a view on the river where elephants of the nearby elephant camp are bathing every afternoon. There's a swimming pool that I had to myself most of the time. The included breakfast is very good and served in the restaurant with river view. Staff are friendly, and they gave me a free ride to the railway station for my departure. Overall a pleasant stay and I would come back.
Jungle experience with a good restaurant”
I liked most the style of the bamboo bungalow, together with the noises of the night it was a nice experience, just like staying in the jungle :-) The ladies at the reception were completely helpful, even helping out with my next day pickup. Moto renting is possible at an average price, and is advisable to get to almost any other places around. Perfect price/value.
GOOD RESORT BESIDE THE RIVER KWAI ”
We found the saiyok river house a great place to stay. The views of the river and the surrounding mountains are fantastic. Especially memorable was the sight of elephants bathing in the river right opposite the resort. Our standard room was clean and comfortable. The outside balcony is a great place to sit and unwind after a day elephant trekking, caving or traveling along the river. People say it is remote but it is quiet and peaceful. The restaurant food was good and we would defineatly return to the saiyok river house .
Very Peaceful on the River bend”
This is a gorgeous place to stay - small and quiet. The sound of the river was wonderful. The room was very nice with a good size balcony on the river. The only complaint was that it is very far from any restaurants. The owner drove me to my destinations but seemed to be in a hurry each time. I would have preferred a driver who took better care of my interests, but I saw and did what I came for. The restaurant food was minimal, but sufficient. If you have a car, this is a perfect place to stay.
A very friendly and peaceful place ”
We had a great time and enjoy our meals at hotel. The house is very family friendly with all cooking utensils and dishes. Family will certainly enjoy! The house is next to the pool so very good for children to play.
wonderful place to stay”
we slept with open window and slide door and enjoyed the natural sounds of the night. we enjoyed the room and the view very much and loved to drink selfmade coffee on the balcony in the morning. a great place to relax and enjoy nature. not for fun seekers as there is little entertainment. the small village provides some small supermarkets and an internet shop; several open air restaurants with good food
Our stay at Saiyok River House”
Not only is the motel in a beautiful setting but the people who live and work at the motel are friendly and helpful. From the moment we arrived we felt welcome and comfortable. And thanks to Ms Poo, the manager, we where well looked after. Nothing was too much trouble, her help in getting transport and information, speaking to people for us (we don’t speak any Thai) on where to go and what to see and how to visit all the places we wanted to see and things we wanted to experience. She was amazing and made our time there the greatest part of our Thailand trip
Nice setting but accommodation tired”
The spot by the river is lovely but Saiyok itself lacks anything in terms of restaurants. There is a 7 Eleven and a local food stall but not much else. The room was clean but the shower wasn't hot, old system, and the room was tired looking.
Perfect getaway, absolutely recommend”
The place is right by the river. It is very quiet and relaxing. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The accommodation had all the facilities required for travellers. We definitely will come back here again.
Very good”
ok river bank and in city close to bridge
Fantastic place with medium quality building standards”
It is an absolutely correct place to spend some days. The location is wonderful, the food is good and the staff is on the average of Thailand standards. However the design and materials quality is rather poor. If you look for something glamorous this is definitely not for you.
Quiet spot by the river”
We stayed here after a day exploring Erawan Fall and Hellfire Pass because we were going to the Elephant Haven (Elephant Nature Park) across the river the next day. It was very convenient because we didn't have to drive the one hour back into town, only to return the next day. It was nice to spend a quiet night by the river. The pool is nice and we took a refreshing swim. Our room was a Standard, without a view of the river. I think that the other rooms looked much nicer for the view. But our room was very comfortable and the shower worked well. We ate a good dinner in the restaurant and enjoyed the breakfast too. Great setting. You will need a car of make arrangements with a taxi as we did.
Feel like home!”
The place is kinda difficult to find out but not that hard. Once you arrived you will love there; quiet, calm, ralax and private. I feel the fully of natures, see the sunset and the River Kwae. Staffs are friendly and nice foods. Not that expensive as i expect. Reasonable price to stay there. And in the room (deluxe triple room) i really like everything from wood and bed so comfortable but in bathroom the flush is broke. Need to fixed. Anyway for me i recommend this place.
So Appreciate”
We were so appreciate to Saiyok River House. With all condition family room, cleanness, facilities, swimming pool, garden walk way to the river and food (breakfast). This is the good place to take a rest in the nature and peaceful.
Natural Wonder of Saiyok River House”
Our stay was very very pleasant. We were lucky with the weather ,very hot but fine.Being right on the River Kwai was just amazing, beautiful and serene. We found the staff very friendly, the breakfasts were great and the rooms were very comfortable and good value for the money Easy access to many natural attractions and of course Hell Fire Pass.
quick overnight stay on a two-day motorcycle trip ”
I stayed overnight during a two-day motorcycle trip from Bangkok during which I went to check out some of the sights nearby. It was a nice quiet place to stay, located on by the river. The hotel is certainly a bit rustic, so don't expect the same level of cleanliness as a sterile hotel in the city. The same goes for service and amenities: keep in mind this is a small, likely family run place in a sleepy part of Thailand. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was great and reasonably priced. The staff, who I believe are the owners, were helpful and welcoming. I didn't take advantage of this, but you can arrange tours and transportation at the hotel as well.
Peaceful, comfortable, private retreat”
We were picked up from the train station nearby(no charge). Hire of a good motor scooter was easily organised for a very good price, and one of the managers went out of his way to help us with using the bike and the best place to get petrol (he showed us the way, personally). The young woman had good English skills and gave us all the information we needed. Our room was very private ( the one at the end of the row, furthest away from the restaurant, All the 'superior' rooms have a veranda directly overlooking the river. The room was well set out; plenty of shelves & storage space, huge bathroom with a bath and heaps of charm. Sai Yok/Wang Pho is a charming, friendly little village within reach of all the local attractions.
Nice hotel - Bring the DEET”
A lovely hotel based at the top of the river Kwai. We arrived by train travelling over the infamous river Kwai bridge and stopping at one of the two stations nearby (What Pho). Have their number to hand or expect to get motor cycle taxis (friendly locals gave us a lift) a little scary with a rucksack and impossible with a suitcase. Buses do not stop nearby from Kanchanaburi however you can get a lift from hotel staff in order to catch these buses for 80 baht for the entire party (you cannot walk from the buses there's a really big hill in the way). Staff offer excursions to all the nearby sights wouldn't know what would happen if more than one party wanted to go somehwere as we were the only ones staying. There's not a lot nearby but a good base; best if you have your own transport.
