Good”
We used the swimming pool on the day arrived and following day we noticed that there were lots of monkeys bathing there and some deficated in the pool. Unfortunately nobody told us that before. The owner is favoring white skinned people. We went there from Australia where we are citizens, even though we were born in Sri Lanka. We saw the owner supplied welcome drinks to the people with white skin, but we didn't get any. The staff is reasonably good particularly a person named Wasantha was very friendly and helpful. Food was delicious.

Excellent staff, not so clean”
+Great pool +staff very helpful and friendly -- made the stay very enjoyable -restaurant food incredibly expensive for average quality and small portions - both room and bathroom were not very clean, and I say that as someone who is usually not that particular. Even with the negatives, the warmth of the owner made it great and for the kids a pool was a life saver.

Fantastic family hotel - one of our favourites”
It was a last minute decision to stay here in Mihintale - and we booked in for 2 nights. We loved it from the moment we arrived. Good value for money, clean spacious rooms, hot water, fridge, A/C. We had standard rooms overlooking the amazing new swimming pool. Lovely grounds with loads of wildlife. Nice view of the stupa on the hill. Possible to walk along the lake into the local village. Walked to Mihintale. Breakfast very good - we didn't eat dinner as we went into the local village. Sanjeev was very welcoming and took us out to see the black pool at sunset - lovely. We also used his son Saji to take us out for the day and to travel on to our next destination - lovely driver/tour guide. He spoke good English, very flexible, good driver, lovely car. We went to Rittigalla, Sigirya and Dambulla.

Best stay in Sri Lanka”
We've been travelling around Sri Lanka for 6 weeks and have stayed in a good few places. This place is the best value for money. Welcome drink, cold towel and passionate host, Rajee upon arrival. Free bicycle rental and momentous trinkets... Little things that makes a huge difference to hospitality. Fabulous rice and curry that came with perfect fish fry and chicken curry. Wonderful days in the pool and the friendly staff. The room was spacious however the bathroom needs TLC. But the water pressure and the hot water was so good that it didn't bother us. Lovely relaxing stay. The host and the staff couldn't be more helpful and attentive to make our stay. 10/10 for us...

Disappointing”
Room and bathroom didn't look like the modern looking rooms posted online. Has an old rustic feel. Bed sheets were stained though probably clean but still was very off putting. Communal areas were ok but room was disappointing. Staff were very friendly.

Fabulous villa”
The villa in the garden is vast and beautifully appointed, lovely design and very comfortable. There's a mini-bar, A/C, tea & coffee making facilities, TV and one of the best mosquito nets we came across in three weeks in Sri Lanka. Large king size bed and very comfortable indeed, plus a range of pillows to suit most people. The place is immaculate. There is an outside bath with a view of the jungle and a wrap-around terrace with a view across the paddy fields of the Dagoba. The ensuite shower room has good water pressure; the shower plumbing raises a smile, but it all works well. Ranji has a huge and generous personality, he is extremely helpful and really goes the extra mile. We loved staying here and Mihintale is a bustling village with a worthwhile climb to the top of the Dagoba for a spectacular view. Anuradhapura is only 13km away and I can't imagine you would find somewhere as quiet and elegant to stay for this price.

Luxury Villa”
The villa was extremely beautiful and gorgeous. The surrounding was quiet and relaxing. Nice view of Mihintale stupa. Relaxing to sit on the terrace.
We very much enjoyed the room. Food (breakfast and dinner) was not so enjoyable and very overpriced. Better take the car and drive to Anuradhapura for dinner. The Mango, Mango Restaurant is a good choice for delicious food. However, the gorgeous villa compensates for the food.

Lovely place, nice family, great stay”
setting, hosts, food
The Saji-Sami Hotel is a very special place. Run by a family that includes two sons ("Saji" and "Sami") along with their father, Ranji, this place is a perfect hideway from the tourist crowds in Anuradhapura. It is actually in Mihintale, which has a number of interesting places to see in addition to the better known nearby ruins at Anuradhapura. The food is very good, and guests have the option of Sri Lankan or Western food. Beer and wine are available. Ranji gave us a complementary upgrade upon arrival, so we stayed in a suite that had a view of the large lighted dogaba up on the hill. Very, very nice stay and we look forward to being able to stay there again at some point in the future. P.S. We also hired Saji to drive for us for the rest of our time in SL. Such a nice young man--speaks Sinhala and Tamil, plus English. Very safe driver, super nice car. We highly recommend him.

Just what we needed”
Friendliness, hotel grounds, proximity to Mihintale temple site
Very friendly welcome. As they were not busy we were given a choice of 2 rooms. The owner was a mine of useful local information. Our room was not serviced during our 2-night stay but on request, the bathroom floor was mopped. We were shown a beautiful new detached bungalow in the grounds due to open shortly.
