            Clean and New!”

            Cleanliness and Newness

I didn't know much about the Sakul House before making a reservation, but I knew that it might be worth a try because of the nice pictures of the hotel. Furthermore, there were only three reviews and I couldn't read any of them because they weren't in English. What I found when I arrived is a clean "business-type" hotel. I refer to the Sakul House as a business hotel because of their free breakfast and their free wifi! The accomodations were modern and the room had ample outlets, lighting and desk for work. The beds were nice and comfortable, we had a "superior double" which is really a king-sized bed. When I checked in, I heard that this hotel has only been opened for 3 months. This review is dated 5/31/2011 so they must have opened this past February. The staff was friendly all around. The housekeeping kept my room clean and the front desk even helped me out with a wake up call at 4 a.m. in the morning! One final note is that the free breakfast is served at a independent restaurant across the street. The hotel does not operate a dining room. You need to ask the front desk for a coupon every morning and there is a 100 baht limit to the food you can order. Everything above 100 baht is paid out of your pocket. All in all, although it is a bit more expensive, it is worth the money if you want a newer facility!

Great hotel in a great location”

            cleanliness...

My family and I really enjoyed our stay at the Sakul House. Because of the homey atmosphere of the place. And yet we still enjoyed the luxury of being in a hotel. Our room was very clean and cold. Cleaning and changing of bedsheets are done daily. There were sufficient amenities that really made our stay so pleasurable. The location of the hotel is also so strategic.. it is near the Kaosan Road. Although the streets beside the hotel are very noisy, we were not disturbed because inside the hotel it was very quite and relaxing. The food (breakfast) is also delicious and clean. The receptionists and restaurant servers were all friendly and accomodating. When we come back to Bangkok, we will definitely stay at Sakul House again.

            Surprising!”

As I approached the Sakul House Hotel my heart sank. I could not see the entrance – it was obscured by the overflow from the bars and restaurant either side of their door. Loud, thumping music was emanating from a number of establishments surrounding the Sakul House. My room was right at the front of the building overlooking the commotions of the street. No sleep for me tonight! I was wrong. The quality windows were surprisingly good at keeping the noise out. I was very surprised that I had no problems with the music from the street and I slept well. Also surprising was the look, the feels and the atmosphere in the hotel. Everything was clean, fresh and well looked after. The fixtures and fittings were much better quality than other places I’ve stayed in, in this area; it was really nice. Special mention must be made of the staff; they were constantly friendly, helpful and welcoming. The surprises kept on coming. On the top floor there is a really nice space for sitting around during the day. The loungers would benefit from cushions, but this is a small quibble. A bigger quibble is the price. It is a wee bit more expensive than I think it should be. There are cheaper comparable places around. Don’t let this put you off. The quality and friendliness of this place are worth a lot and many people will love it. Just one potential problem, if it is important for you to keep valuables safe, you will be disappointed by the safe; it is very small. Cameras and passports will fit in but even a small notebook will not. Don’t even think about a laptop…. not a DLSR and lenses either.

            Definitely Recommended. ”

Great location to main road, restaurants and 7/11"s. Far enuff from the noise but in the centre of the action.

I am currently staying at this hotel and i have now stayed here thrice already. The little alleyway to the left of the hotel, (999 West) sign is a handy shortcut that brings you right in the thick of things of Khaosan road. Staff are very friendly and I can assure you the pictures on the website have not been photoshopped in anyway. The main differences in the standard and superior rooms are larger showers and terraces, though the standard rooms are great value for money. The showers are great too and surprisingly forceful enuff though they have rather small heads!! Enjoy your stay at Sakul House, cos I sure enjoyed mine!!

            Great stay!”

Good location, clean, and friendly staff

We loved Sakul House! The staff were very kind, the location was excellent (right next to Khao San and about a 15-minute walk to the Grand Palace), and the rooms were comfortable and clean with free wifi! The restaurant next door was where we ate breakfast every morning. They were great--let us sit at their tables and just order drinks while we ate our pad thai from the stands across the street. The only thing we were dismayed about was the travel agent connected with the hotel--Dave--who may have mislead us? We booked overnight train tickets to Chiang Mai with him, and he seemed really nice! But we found out later that due to flooding, the trains were no longer running all the way (they were stopping in Lampang, after which people had to take a 2-hour bus ride)... Apparently this had been the case for 2 days. Since we booked the tickets one day, picked them up the next day, and left for the train station the following day (seeing Dave all three days), it seemed curious that he hadn't informed us of this. But maybe he just didn't know? Otherwise, wonderful stay at Sakul! Just make sure to get the address written in Thai to show taxi drivers... It's new, so no one knows where it is!

            good location

me and my friend stayed in sakul house in bangkok. at first it was a bit hard to find the hotel because taxi driver didnt drive up to the front but just dropped us somewhere nearby.so make sure you have a plan of the location printed out. the hotel is in a very busy area just next to khao san road. there are shops, massage and places to eat nearby. makes it very convenient. our room was not on the street side-could be a bit noisy there. room was modern, nice and clean. we had wifi in our room.from the hotel you can walk to grand palace in about 15 minutes. no need to take any transport. we were happy with our stay!

            Adequate lodging”

            Clean, comfortable, good AC

The stay at Sakul House Hotel was good. The location was convenient since it was close to all the Khao San road happenings. If you don't want loud partying or random music being played till late, don't stay here or in the Khao San area. This hotel is perfect for someone who wants a clean, comfortable place to sleep at. Another thing (if it's important to you), the wifi can be spotty. Also, the food around the hotel is terrible. You need to get out of the Khao San area in order to really experience good Thai food. Still, I would recommend the hotel. It's for people who want the Khao San experience without the backpacker dorm room experience.

beautiful rooms, friendly staff, nice little details

I was there only for one night as i had a stopover in BKK But the place is in a great loaction. But i had a very good stay in Sakul House hotel as the rooms are beautiful and with big windows for a lot of light and the staff is very friendly and helpful and adds some nice little details to the accomodation (as elephant folded towels) :-) and the like. Thumbs up and definitely worth the money.

Nice room, close to Khao San Road”

Comfortable bed, easy access to street food, night life and it was easy to get a cab or tuk tuk to other parts of the city

Sakul House was a nice place to rest after a day of wandering the streets near Khao San Road. I was pleased that even though music and merriment happened until wee hours of the morning, the room was able to buffer out most, if not all of the outside noises. New Year's Eve the noise level was a bit loud, but hey, it was New Year's Eve =) I would definitely stay at this place again!

            Nice rooms, a bit loud”

            Comfortable rooms, good breakfast

Though not directly on Khao San, Sakul House Hotel still got too loud for one of my friends due to the band playing downstairs until 3am every night. My other friend and I slept just fine though so it just depends on how sensitive you are to bass. Sakul House Hotel is in a fun neighborhood with lots of bars, restaurants, and tourist-oriented shopping, but it's a little hard to get outside of the Old City since it lacks direct Skytrain or subway access. It's a good base for checking out the Old City sights though.

            Good beds, good wifi

This was my second stay at Sakul House, and I returned there for a few reasons: very comfortable bed in the superior room (great cotton linen, and nice mattress), good wifi, plasma tv with a few English channels, and a location right in the middle of Rambuttri/Khaosan. Plenty of restaurants and street vendors right at the door. Staff were not overly friendly, but pleasant enough. Security guard on the premises who must work at least 19 hours a day, poor guy. Be aware of the 500 baht deposit on check-in, which will be refunded when you leave. This is not unusual at all in this area, and there should be no problems.

            Quiet and Clean!”

Perfect location, clean, modern rooms, helpful staff

The hotel is located near Khaosan Rd., but much quieter than staying on Khaosan. The staff was extremely helpful with directions and organizing a car to Hua Hin. The rooms are very clean, new and comfortable. I've stayed in other places in that area of Bangkok, but this was for sure the best near Khaosan Rd. Just outside there are restaurants and stores that go until late. We had a room facing the street, but wasn't loud at night.

clean rooms and 1 minute walk from khaosan

this was our 2nd hotel in bangkok and it was a great decision to stay at this as the location was spot on. it was a 1 min walk to khaosan so while the location was great, we still got peace and quiet at night. there were plentiful restaurants and bars around and the hotel had a view of the grand palace. there are many travel agents close by to book tours and day trips. will definitely recommend to travelers looking for fun in bangkok without seedy surroundings.

            Clean, helpful staff, good location

It was a pleasant stay at the Sakul House. The room was small but it was clean and had a small balcony. The room faced the busy street by Khaosan Road and was loud outside because of the water festival but no noise from inside the hotel. The location is prime to walk to the major tourist attractions, bars and restaurants.
