Nice Hostel with Excellent Subway Access”

kitchen, laundry facilities, easy access, very clean, excellent subway access

My husband and I stayed in a mixed dorm at Sakura Hostel Asakusa for 5 nights during our recent stay in Tokyo. Although I agree with others that the directions to the hostel are a bit flimsy (they break down once you reach Senso-ji in step 7/8), those in combination with the map made it so that we were able to relatively easily find the hostel. One great thing about this hostel is that it's close to each of the two subway providers that operate in Tokyo, which helps keep transportation costs down as you don't need to pay two separate fares because you can pick whichever provider is best for you. The main lobby area of Sakura features several computers as well as free wi-fi (restricted to this area),a tv, washers & dryers for your clothing and a kitchen that was well stocked with utensils for cooking. Although this area was used by a lot of travelers, it was always clean and never felt too crowded. Only downside that we experienced is that at times the internet was UNBEARABLY slow on our laptop, which was frustrating because we could see some people streaming video but we couldn't even check our email! As for the dorms, we found the room rather cramped - the ceilings were extremely low and the walls were dark, so it made the room feels a bit like a jail cell. The beds also lacked a bit of padding and could be quite hard, though not so bad that we were unable to sleep! Atmosphere was definitely lacking in our room, although we did appreciate that each bed had its own personal reading light and that there were cubbies/lockers in the room for storing valuables (but bring your own lock!). Nothing wrong with the rooms, just not as nice as the rest of the hostel. Bathrooms were very clean, and showers offered good privacy. Just wish they provided more ledges for putting your stuff - the on basket was very high and not very convenient. Overall, a pleasant stay for great value in Tokyo. We liked the area and would stay at this hostel again.

Great value, Great People”

Sakura Hostel Asakusa was one of the best hostels I’ve visited in a while. My brother and I stayed in a twin bunk room. The location was superb, the rooms were clean and the perfect size for us. The view was so lovely and unexpected. We couldn’t figure out the heating system, so it was a bit cold at night (but that was completely on us for being too tired to ask), haha. We could see the Hanayashiki amusement park, the Senso-ji Buddhist temple, and the Tokyo Skytree all from our little room terrace. The shared floor bathrooms were clean and warm — they were never busy. The staff was exceptional and super helpful and always there to help and recommend things to us. The common area was busy and vibrant and had a lot amenities for the guests. They also offer cool events inside the hostel, too. The location was decent — every station or stop we needed was 5-15 minutes of a walk away. The neighborhood is quiet and quaint. I would highly recommend this accommodation.

It was great time!”

Reasonable price, Location near sub st, Kind staff.

I think it was my lucky to stay there. Although it was hard to find the hostel at first, I finally thought the location of this hostel is very good to have a look Asakusa and get to subway sation. Most of all, I really wanna say thank you to one of the staff, named 'Ayumi'. She was very kind so I was able to get information such as subway timetable, how I can get to where I wanna go. She wrote some sentence in Japanese for me to show it to staff in staion. Cuz I am not good at using machine.. Anyway, what I wanna say is I was really satisfied with the time staying in Sakura hostel. I can recommend this hostel anyone going to Tokyo and staying near Asakusa.

Overall great decision”

What I love about this hotel -I book for triple room and got 6 bed group room instead. Really love it cause I could use the other space for our belongings. -View was extraordinary. My room was on 5th floor, and you could see an amusement park just across the building with a complimentary view from Tokyo Skytree and Sensoji Temple. -Staff were excellent, hospitable and speak good english -Probably the only hostel with affordable price (by far) that still give you a nice and proper breakfast (toast, soup, drinks, etc) -Check in time starts from 1 pm. It's very convenient for us who have arrive in Japan since morning. (most of the hostel that I know of in Tokyo has check in time starts from 3 pm) Now for the downsides: - it's quite a walk from Asakusa Station (Ginza Line). It's indeed near to another Asakusa Station (the tsukuba express line) but this line is quite pricy. - the heater start to turn on from 10 pm. - there is an open air on the aisle which connect you from your room to the shared bathroom. It's freezing cold especially on winter Overall I have great time there and would definitely spread the good words!

Fun Stay”

price, staff, amenities

Sakura Hostel Asakusa is located behind Sensouji and a few minutes away from the Ginza Line and Asakusa Line. It's very convenient if you're in a hurry to go sightseeing immediately after arriving. I did get lost though but afterwards, I found a shortcut so everything went smoothly. As for the staff, everyone knew English and other languages. If you're bored, you can talk to them too! The rooms were clean but the wifi was not so strong in my room since it was in the 4th floor. The lounge had a very strong signal. I could even play MMORPGs there. My only qualm about it is the hallway going out of the room to the next hallway. You can definitely feel the wind outside and since I went there in winter, it was chilly. If you want a cheap, clean, and friendly atmosphere, you should definitely check in here.

No issues and good location”

Location, access, facilities

Good stay at Sakura. Hostel is in a good location in Asakusa, only a short walk from the train station with a variety of attractions and shops close by. Instructions to find Hostel are very good. Several convenience stores very close by or the best supermarket is in the basement of the ROX department store building a short walk away. We had a twin room with 2 single beds. The Room was very small, hardly any room for your bags, perhaps having bunk beds may be a better option. Good air con and wifi in room. Shared bathroom down the half, nice and clean and modern although only 1 shower and 1 toilet for the 6 rooms on our floor (this wasn't an issue for us as it seemed to be quite in the hostel). A basic breakfast is offered for 325Yen which seems a good deal although I didn't try it to know. While I was there the hostel put on a free Geisha dance show one night, which was very good. Good social area with bar and internet computers for people to hang out. 24 hour access to building and swipe card access to room, you can get a door card each but require a 1000Yen bond for each card. Clean linen provided, you must make your own bed on arrival. No towel provided, but towels can be rented for 100Yen. Very nice english speaking staff who are able to provide help and advice.

Many a friend made for sure, for both the kids and I. It is the heart of Asakusa and many historical sights to be had within walking distance. A bit far from the nightlife of Roppongi more in the heart of Tokyo, but being Japan, highly and affordable accessibility nonetheless.

One Saturday night”

Price was great. Had books you could borrow. Bedding was comfortable and warm. Location excellent
We visited on a cold weekend in February. Bathrooms were unheated and down an unheated hallway from our room.

We liked the Sakura Hostel and would go there again in a warmer season. My husband did brave a shower in the cold bathroom and he said the water was hot and steamed the shower nicely. Since some of our family members were sick and needed to rest i very much appreciated their book loan section as I had not brought a book. Alot of young people from all around the world stayed there. The amusement park right behind us was a little noisy if you wanted to sleep in the daytime. It closed at 9:00 on a cold Saturday night. We were surprised it was open in that cold weather but that weather was unusual for Tokyo. The environment around the hostel was surreal. I felt like I was on a Japanese movie set. Everything you imagine Japan to be like from a tourist angle- cute little decorated restaurants, small streets, friendly vendors. It was a tourist area and played the role well. The hostel would be a great place to stay most of the year. I was warm enough in our room, but not the bathroom. They were clean though. Food and drink were available for purchase on the first floor.

After being in a few hostels in Tokyo i chose this hostel, and actually I been there about a month Because it's in the Asakusa district which is fun to walk around all the time, and a 2 minute walk to senso ji temple The staff was perfect and they always helped me, and is available 24 hours a day, It includes a basic breakfast, which helps you save some money, Always clean And there are always hostel activities there, meetings, a cooking workshop, sometimes a show highly recommended

A nice hostel in Asakusa neighborhood.”

This hostel is located in the westside of Senso-ji Asakusa Temple, one of the famous temple in Tokyo. Only takes about 5 minutes walking to Senso-ji and 10 minutes walking to the Asakusa subway station. There were two bunk beds in our room. This hostel provides shared bathrooms.

Totally worth the price!”

Location was very good. It was near Sensojo Temple and Asakusa station. And the hotel itself is very nice! Our room was a bunk bed double room. And we have plenty of space we can still open our 2 luggages at the same time. And all the staffs were really nice and very helpful! And the rooms were cleaned everyday too. Also the shared bathroom was clean as well! Will definitely book this hotel again when I come back to Tokyo! :)

Reasonabled price hotel”

location, cleanliness

I've stayed there for 3 nights with 4 of my friends. For the student like us, this hotel was very reasonably priced, which is some selling point : 1. Strategic Location. Close to tourist attractions, commercial public area, and the subway station. Accessible from 4 stations; Asakusa, Asakusa (Tsukuba), Tawaramachi and Kuramae. 2. Very clean. This is the cleanest shared bathroom's hotel that i've ever knew! cool! 2 thumbs up...
