Best value and location for seeing sites”

Location, service, and value

The staff was extremely helpful. Fantastic breakfast. Perfect location for touring Bangkok- adjacent to Wat Pho and the Grand Palace, and next to the river boat express which is the most convenient way to get around (and connects to the sky train). Right on the river and a rooftop bar with great views. Sala Arun was a much better experience than a fancier hotel we stayed at on another night for 4 times the price. Highly recommend Sala Arun.

Short Stay Bangkok”

The hotel is located directly on the river with a magnificent view of Wat Arun from the restaurant. The Hotel is part of the Arun residences group (Sala Arun, Arun Residences, and Arun) and meals can be eaten at any three of the hotels (common kitchen). The area is wonderful also with an old Bangkok feel. Its also right across the street from Wat Arun and waling distance to the Royal Palace and a short ferry ride to Wat Arun across the river. Many lovely and inexpensive cafes in the area. Very quiet at night.

Fabulous hotel, great view, excellent location!”

Location, View, Decor

We absolutely loved our stay at this hotel and would recommend it to anyone wanting to splash out a little more in Bangkok. We were on our honeymoon, and this room made it feel that way-- the decor was lovely, and the view was to die for! We had a balcony off our room, which was nice for enjoying the 85-degree weather at sunrise. Staff was always warm and accommodating. The room and bathroom were clean. A/C worked great. Breakfast was included in our rate and wasn't too bad. As others have said, they take your order and then run next door to Arun Residence where the food is actually cooked. This didn't take too long, though. Location was also great. Very near to Wat Pho (Temple of the Reclining Buddha), Royal Palace, and the pier for popping across the river to Wat Arun. Also, there's a market right in front of the pier-- great for photo ops, food, and catching a tuk-tuk (though some drivers aren't as willing to haggle here). One tip: It was hard for our cab driver to find this place. It's down an alley several hundred feet-- keep your eyes peeled for an orange facade with a green door. It's, I think, 2-3 alleys north of Arun Residence (where our cab driver first tried to take us). Highly, highly recommend this hotel!

Clean, air conditioned, good sized room, cooked breakfast, helpful staff, location

we were cruising and had an overnight stop in bangkok. instead of staying on board we decided to book a hotel room overnight. sala arun was perfect, the view from our room was across the river opposite wat arun. from the hotel it was a five minute walk to wat pho and a 15 minute walk to the grand palace.

Simple hotel with great views”

Sala Arun looked more luxurious on the website than it was. Our room was very comfortable but basic. But our window and balcony looked toward the spectacular Wat Pho. The restaurant and rooms on the other side have amazing views of the Chao Phraya River and Wat Arun. There is a rooftop bar with 360 degree views. Breakfasts adequate but not wonderful. Overall we had a very pleasant stay there. Staff are very nice and helpful. A river ferry stop is very close, which you can take to connect with the sky train. Easy and efficient system. The hotel is an easy walk to a number of important Bangkok sites, or take a tuk-tuk. Some not bad restaurants near by but more oriented to tourists.

Enchantment of Ancient Bangkok”

On the Chaophyra River across from Wat Arun, Great staff, relaxed friendliness of a B&B

We really enjoyed the quiet laid back atmosphere, frendly and helpful staff, awesome location amd individualized rooms. The best viewis from the suite on the 4th floor, my wife has a bad knee so we had to setle for the Ayuthaya room on nthe scond floor overlooking the river and it was still very nice. Riverside rooms with view of Wat Arun are the best. You can find other hotels with lower cost, but you are paying for the location here and it is worth it. this is our third visit to Bangkok in six years and we will defilentely stay heer again next trip for a few days.

Sala Arun is an extraordinary accomodation with kind and polite hosts. ”

We spent two beautiful nights here. Everibody were really kind and helpful. The chef is an artists and the view from the restaurant's terrace has made the meals even more special. Not to mention the bar at the top of the building. It is amazing. The room exceeded that we anticipated based on the agoda photos. The only room for improvement is in sound-proofing. We heard nearly everything from the surrounding area. But alltogether we are going to return here next year. Thank you Sala Arun!

View of Wat Arun is spectacular”

View, staff and Wat accesibility

The location is what brings you here but the front desk attention is what will bring you back. That's what helps you overlook the small details of bathroom water handle coming off and the balcony door lock hard to close even the very young maids missing spots. The three front desk personnel will do anything to please you. The rooftop opens at 1730 where you can get your complimentary pineapple spritzer(not my fav) but your view of the Chaya Praya River and Wat Arun is your postcard picture to send back home! Best to ask the staff about costs of travel around town, which we didn't do and on our first day got taken advantage of by the usually unscrupulous tuk tuk drivers. We were taken on an hour wild goose chase to find an open money exchange while a couple of steps away into Soi Khoasan the small backpackers street that I didn't care much for, has exchanges every few feet. Also just a 3 baht river ride away is the Wang Lang market that has the best sweet bbq pork I ever had. I actually went back 3 times to indulge, including an hour before my flight and treated my taxi driver with the 35 baht melt-in-your-mouth goody! A very memorable stay at Sala Arun, topped off by it being the Queen's birthday with festivities just steps away.

Fantastic location”

Location, large rooms and small B&B

Sala Arun is a lovely boutique B&B with free WiFi, wonderful views and cosy rooms. We stayed at the suite (Delux room) which was pricey but worth the extravagance. It was a great room with a big balcony with a swing seat and outdoor setting and beautiful big window with full view of Wat arun. The property was well maintained, clean and comfortable but its a long way into town, its also at the far end of a grungy street with poor lighting. We arrived for Breakfast at 9.30 and discovered most items have disappeared eg bread, croissants, fruit and cereal and cooked next door at Arun Residence. We felt that there was no one in charge at the hotel and it had the appearance of being run by newbies - all very polite, helpful and enthusiastic, but limited English. Not the fault of the staff, they are trying their best but it is a struggle for them when things go wrong as it is difficult to communicate and our Thai is from a phrase book! No one seemed to be able to assist us without making a call to someone! All in all, I would highly recommend the Sala Arun if cost is not an issue.

Sala Arun Review”

Comfort, location and helpful and friendly staff.

Our stay at Sala Arun was very enjoyable. We like the location as it was walking distance to Wat Phoo, The Grand Palace, the flower market and the ferry to Wat Arun. There are many other historical sights of interest within walking distance or a short cab ride from the hotel. The hotel was comfortable and clean. The staff were very friendly and helped us plan a couple trips as well as wrote directions and addresses in Thai for us. :)

View, staff, decor

Fantastic hotel. Incredible view of the wat Arun temple from our room and private balcony. Topped only by the incredible view from the hotel rooftop bar where we watched the sun set and the temple light up for night. Greeted with a free soft cocktail and very nice staff. Room and bathroom very nicely decorated with dressing gowns etc. coffee table book on Bangkok provided. So many nice details. Seriously good value for money esp. When booked through agoda. Very close to grand palace (walking distance) and koh San road. Altogether perfect! The view was definitely the most special thing about it!

❤️❤️❤️”

We stayed in sala arun for 3 days 2 nights and there's the 3 of us. My brother has to take the long couch, the couch was actually spacious and comfy so it didnt bother him at all. The room was big as well as the bed. It's definitely clean, and the bathroom was likewise big and neat. We got the deluxe room with river view and it was worth every penny. To be honest it is actually cheap for how the room and the view looks like. My only comehow negative comment is that, their 2 restaurants are very expensive. Maybe they should work on that a bit. But all in all we had a great stay here. Will definitely comeback 😊

Great Location, Great View”

The Sala Arun is a decent small hotel near the royal palace and right on the Chao Phraya River. It has some river facing rooms and some that don't see the river. There is only one suite and the view from the suite is featured in advertising but the deluxe riverview rooms have smaller decks than that. If you can, ask for a room without an AC unit on the deck as the unit is not likely to be for your suite and it is noisy and pumping heat onto the deck. You cannot turn the unit off so sitting on the deck is not too pleasant. Its not noisy in the room so that's a good thing. Comfortable bed and great views from the riverview rooms.

Lovely room with spectacular view of Wat Arun.”

The views across the river; Spacious room with good facilities; Good breakfast and dining.

It is tucked away at thge end of a narrow alley of warehouses but we eventually found it! We were made welcome and shown to our room which was nicely furnished and very spacious with a large bathroom and a balcony looking toward Wat Arun which must be one of the most iconic views of Bangkok! However I was very relieved that we were on the first floor as there was no lift. Consequently we never got as far as the roof top bar. However, dining on the ground floor decking, looking over the river, was pleasant except for the constant loud music from the adjoining hotel. The hotel was very comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful and as it is so near to several major attractions I would recommend it.

Incredible location and view”

We had a great stay at Sala Arun in the deluxe river view room. The location cannot be beaten right next to Grand Palace and many temples and the view from the room was unbelievable. The food is also excellent: we had a delicious lunch on the deck. The hotel and rooms could definitely be updated as they are a bit outdated - for instance there is a huge curtain over the big window covering most of the view unless you're in the balcony! We were also told that staff would be manning the desk until midnight but when we got back around 10pm the only person there did not speak a word of english and was not able to book a cab for us the next day which was frustrating. Finally it would be good to have some parts of the roof deck reserved for people staying at the hotel as we weren't able to get a seat in the evening - and the roof deck was part of the reason I booked! Otherwise a great stay and would go back.

Great location”

We chose this hotel for the location and the view of Wat Arun from across the river, loved the view even though Wat Arun is under renovation, food & staff was terrific, room cleanliness was good , However : as it was wet season I would recommend the owner of this hotel to pull some money out of his pocket and do some repairs, we were on level 3 and the room leaked through the door & window. we could not sit outside or even open the door when it did rain ( no roof over the balcony ) looking back to the room from river side or restaurant shows the place is in some serious need of renovation. I rate this a 3 star hotel with 4 star prices. Still love Bangkok for its surprises great location walking distance to Grand Palace. Happy to go back again, hopefully the owner will read this.

Beautiful Boutique Hotel with Great View”

View, proximity to places of interest, convenience

It was a pleasant 3 days stay at the hotel. The staff were helpful and the place is really very relaxing. Wat Pho is just across the street and Wat Arun is just a boat ride across the river. It was nice to sit by the balcony to watch the river and sunset. However, we were given a room with a huge tree in front of the balcony that block the entire view of Wat Arun. The stuff was nice to give us a partial refund and charge us with a room of city view instead. Breakfast is alright however, wish there could be more food and variety

Perfect”

Location, view,and breakfast

Sala Arun was wonderful! The location is perfect as it is in the heart of the old city right across from Wat Po and a short walk to the flower market. The view from the rooftop bar is one in a million as you can see across to Wat Arun and Breakfast is right on the river. The staff is one of the friendliest and most helpful as any in Thailand. I would stay here again.
