Unassumingly fabulous contemporary boutique hotel by the riverside ”
We really love the contemporary interior design of sala rattanakosin and most of all the fantastic view of Wat Arun from the deluxe room and hotel dining areas. So lovely at night when lit up! Breakfast and The River dining offers great food with attractive plating. The popular Rooftop bar has awesome view of Bangkok Riverside and other landmark sites like Wat Pho, Grand Palace, et al. Hotel has no elevator tho and is at the end of a strip of small shops, restos and right beside warehousing stores. Not favourable to seniors and the disabled. But the small restos have good food at affordable prices. There is a nice souvenir shop at the corner of the street. Wat Pho and Grand Palace are just walking distance and Wat Arun is just a short boat ride across the river.
Amazing views riverside location ”
Sala Rattanakosin Hotel is located across from Wat Arun and the Arun view deluxe rooms have perfect views of the temple at all times of the day and night - also lovely to watch the river traffic from the room or restaurant terrace. the food is amazing - huge selction tasty and beautifully presented. Rooftop bar is fun to relax with a cocktail. Breakfast has interesting and varied menu options [not buffet - all dishes made to order] Notes about accessibility; the hotel doesn't have a lift - important that guests are able to manage stairs. Also the small soi outside is jampacked with delivery trollys/vehicles for the adjoining warehouses during the day so negotiating these can be tricky at times. In general the location is fantastic lots of eateries and coffee shops and local market within strolling distance. Very convenient for independent visits to Wat Arun, Reclining Buddha, Wat Pho and the Grand palace [no taxi or tour needed] Hotel Recommended for a special treat !
Good experience and a nice getaway”
Our staycation at the Sala Rattanakosin was good in many ways, but there was room for improvement. The view is wonderful and the food good, but pricey. The included breakfast was tasty as well, but rather limited; I left hungry. The patio is also fabulous, yet it is in the sun by 8:30-9am which makes it uncomfortable quickly (shade would be fantastic). Generally, we like to support boutique hotels, but when the price for a room is as much or more than the 5 star hotels further up the river, one starts to wonder. The location is great as it allows the visitor to experience a different parts of Bangkok; river life, warehouses, and the flower market nearby. This says nothing of being close to famous Wats and the Grand Palace. Overall, a very nice getaway spot with just a few tweaks to make it excellent.
Very comfortable despite record breaking heat!”
We had a comfortable room with adjustable air con which was a life saver in the Bangkok heat this time of year. The hotel staff were attentive, helpful, and polite. The restaurant was top notch with a good selection of international cuisine and breakfast was included. The view from the hotel facing What Arun was truly amazing especially at night. The only challenges to the hotel were it's distance to the airport and accessibility to the BTS Skytrain. Also getting up and down the stairs with no elevator was sometimes difficult for my husband with MS up to the fourth floor. Perhaps mention of thison the Agoda site would be helpful for persons with accessibility issues. But this boutique hotel was small, posh, and close to most of Bangkok attractions. This hotel was a steal for the price. Thanks for a great stay.
Great boutique hotel right on Chao Praya River - lovely!”
This hotel's location, and surrounding shipping/trading companies, constitute a huge part of its lovely charm and uniqueness. You are literally nestled amongst warehouses on the Chao Praya River with sweaty, muscled boys hauling boxes to/from lorries and boats. One gets the feeling that this part of Old Bangkok is on the cusp of exploding into a very trendy/chic part of town with similar boutique hotels, residences, mini-spas and coffee shops popping up all around. It's 3 minutes walk to Wat Pho, 10 minutes walk to the Grand Palace and a 5 Baht/5 minute ferry ride to Wat Arun (Temple of the Dawn). The hotel's staff were very resourceful and polite - I asked them to ask Hertz to deliver our rental car to the hotel on our final morning (done with smiles!). We also got some great ideas on what to do and where to shop from the glamorous and polite Khun Em. The breakfast (included) was superb with a wide range of offerings for the very hungry to the very fussy with excellent coffee/tea selection as well. The rooms were modern, spartan chic - which I love (hate busy, complicated, fussy rooms) - and the bed was well-appointed and comfortable. Aircon was strong and quiet. Half the rooms have a wonderful view of the Chao Praya River and Wat Arun. One must scale stairs to get to the rooms but hey, we have legs and can walk (and the porter discretely took our bags up for us upon arrival). All in all, a real gem of a hotel (after 30 years of staying in Sukhumvit area mega business hotels) and one I wouldn't hesitate to return to soon. (Note: I didn't eat in the restaurant for lunch or dinner, hence, no comments.)
In the heart of historical Bangkok”
Stylish boutique hotel in walking distance to the Grand Palace and Wat Pho. Trendy mix of the old building fabric and modern interior design. Fabulous views from both the award-winning restaurant and the rooftop bar. Excellent reception and friendly, accommodating staff. As the hotel is located in the middle of a market area (and therefore not that easy to find) I asked the reception to organize the transfer from the airport to the hotel: They send a very nice (brand new) car with an excellent driver at a very reasonable price: What a nice and carefree way to start my stay in Bangkok.
Best place to see Wat Arun with super delicious foods”
Location is perfect for both sightseeing and viewing landscape. Dinner and breakfast so brilliant that I have never had in Bangkok so far 2 years. But because the hotel has no lift, it was hard for us to go up with 2 small children. We stayed at a Deluxe room and felt comfortable but some people will feel a difference from an image of normal room.
Great view in a charming hotel”
The view on the rooftop bar is great, and the hotel has a great charm. The room was big enough for myself, and I liked the style of it. Moreover, the location is perfect to see the main sights of Bangkok. On the bad points, no elevator, which can be annoying with a big luggage.
Stunning view of WatArun”
It's quite expensive than other similar level of hotels, but the view from room taking over everything! And staffs were very kind, also breakfast was delish-! Highly recommend if you stay in Bangkok.
Less than expected”
The reviews indicated that this was one of the best hotels in Bangkok. I think the people wring some of these reviews haven't stayed at to many hotel if that is there opinion. The hotel has a great view of the river and of Wat Arun apart from that it is very noisy (you can hear of all the other guests as they move about the hotel) and the rooms are small and need a good clean. Restaurant was good for dinner although they didn't have some things that were on the menu. Breakfast is very average and the staff at breakfast were very cold and uninterested. Fore the price I have stayed in much nicer places in Bangkok.
Breathing view of Chao Praya river with style ”
Lovely hotel with one of the best view in Bangkok. Breakfast is good and lovely even it's not a buffet but the quality is very good. However, the towel used in the hotel has too much scent of the detergent.
Exceptional river and temple views”
This MUST be one of Bangkok's best restaurants. I was blown away by the design, architecture, riverside terrace and rooftop bar with stunning views of Wat Pho and Wat Urun. Solo traveller as a woman felt very safe - with easy walking access to Wat Pho, temple of Reclining Buddha. It was magic - cant wait to come back to this hotel with my husband.
Great little hotel in a great location a shoirt walk from Wat Pho, the Grand Palace, and the flower market. The rooms with a Wat Arun/riverside view are excellent. Breakfast is very good indeed and all staff at the hotel are friendly and helpful. The rooftop cocktail bar provides great views and nice cocktails but has become a bit crowded with selfie obsessed people. Some decent places to eat within walking distance and a tuk tuk ride to Wat Saket, Hhao San Road and other places of interest. This was our third stay at this hotel and we would stay again.
I'll be back”
So good we returned after our honeymoon in Hua hin before we flew out of Bangkok.... And received an upgrade!!! Thanks guys, excellent hotel and service
Amazing view of Wat Arun”
Amazing view of Wat Arun, friendly but also very efficient staff (both at reception and at the restaurant), very clean rooms, perfect weekend in Bangkok!
The Sala was wonderful as well as the staff. The only problem we had was that our room smelled and I do not know why. However, the staff were helpful and moved us to a suite for our last night.
Great hotel just in front of the river and one of the most beautiful temple in bangkok, Wat Arun. However the hotel is bit noisy because of the boat traffic on the river and the isolation between rooms is not very good. To sum up, this hotel is a great option for a 2/3 nights trip but could be a bit less expensive. At 6,000 THB you can also be in great 5 stars on the river next to Silom area.
Perfect in every way”
The Location and the standard of service combined with the quality of the rooms made our holiday in Bangkok perfect
I Love Wat Arun view ”
My favorite place to stay in Bangkok. Great place, great staff and excellent food. Just suggested a place must get access elevator :)
Great Place, Perfect View and Well trained staffs. ”
I will definitely stay here again if I travel to Bangkok. This hotel is on my top list right now.
