Nice boarding house in safe area”

Comfortable room, large windows, cozy atmosphere

I really enjoyed staying at Sala Thai. It is in a fairly decent location, just a 15-20 minute walk to the MRT/BTS (sala daeng station), and has many good restaurant options nearby. There is a nice communal room/living room outside of the rooms with a nice television (complete with English channels!!) and clean bathrooms. It is definitely not the hotel for "fussy," or "picky" travelers-- but for those who don't want to stay in a hostel or group dorm, this place is affordable and comfortable. I will definitely consider staying here again. :)

Excellent budget accomodation”

friendly and helpful staff, roof top area, nice clean private bedroom.

I really liked it here. I based my scores around the price which was about 300 baht. You can get a much more luxurious hotel, but not for 300 baht a night. This hotel compares well to a hostel, you have some common areas with a TV (with international channels) and a rooftop area which has a great view of Bangkok at night. The other guests here are friendly and good fun, but not too crazy like in some hostels. You get a private room with a fan, a desk, and some clothes storage. There is space under the bed for your suitcase. The location is very good, close to lumpini park and silom. This quiet street has many very good restaurants and a few beer/wine bars, but it isn't crazy like nana or patpong. I don't think I would bring my family here, the street doesn't have a safe pavement to walk along. But if you want a cheap hostel type social experience, without your belongings being stolen, or someone drawing on your face while you sleep, or finding some stranger sleeping in your bed - then this is a great option for you. I will stay here again!

10th time Sala Thai”

First time I was here were 2001. No new paint on the walls... no new floor but still a cheap gh with good atmosphere. Walking distance to silom and lumphini park a couple of blocks away. I really like Sala Thai and coming back.

Little Gem”

Owners, Comfort, Quaint

Respectably clean room big enough for the bed and a couple pieces of furniture. The garden on the roof was a great place to stretch out and eat. The owners are super nice! Also, don't be afraid about how tucked away this place is. It's nice being off of the road in a serene little alley. The most visible sign on the street is for the Lee Mansion. Also, there's a number of good coffee and breakfast places just around the corner. I'll definitely be back.

Nice clean homestay, but hot small rooms”

Location, roof terrace.

The Humidity in the rooms ruined this place for us, but if you can handle the heat then this place is really nice and great value for money, the rooms are very small and the bed is quite hard but it is cleaned to a very high standard along with the shared facilities. The roof terrace was very nice. It was quite hard to find though so make sure you have the address written in thai and maybe a map.

Charming small guesthouse”

one bilingual staff member

Sala Thai is a decent place to stay for backpackers looking to get away from the khao san road. However the owner is a bit stingy with the internet saying that I can only use the internet until 12:30 at night if i am only staying one night. Only one bilingual staff member for non thai speakers. However she offered free bananas. The shared bathrooms are super clean.
