Enjoyable Stay -- Highly Recommended”
I was totally delighted with this hotel, the Salana Boutique Hotel in Vientiane, Laos. The staff at the Salana are very polite, professional, and frankly quite charming. They are helpful, informative and go the extra mile to answer your questions and ensure you enjoy your stay and see the city while you are there. I was very pleased with the driver that the hotel arranged for me, as I took a half-day city tour, plus went out to the Buddha Park in the afternoon. The hotel staff can speak English in most cases, and certainly the front desk staff with whom you transact business are English-fluent. Booking through Agoda and check-in / check-out went very smoothly. My guest room, while not large, was of adequate size. The room was well-appointed and had everything I needed. The bathroom was clean, modern, and the fixtures were in good shape. There was plenty of hot water for showers. The air conditioning worked well. The bed was comfortable and clean. I used the laundry service twice and was totally satisfied. I also had the Lao massage at the hotel's spa, and was very pleased with that service. My favorite aspect of this hotel is the breakfast buffet. I loved it. The selections were very good, the food was of high quality, and I liked the fact that you could also order a la carte items off the menu along with your buffet breakfast, and those were included with the breakfast. The fresh fruits, juices, breads, cereals, crepes and other hot items were all good. The large corner window view of the street activity outside the hotel is a nice way to begin your day in Vientiane. I also ate in the hotel restaurant for dinner just one evening, and it was a good meal. The Salana is a very attractive hotel. The housekeeping staff do a great job, and the hotel is nicely decorated and maintained. I highly recommend the Salana Boutique Hotel for your stay in Vientiane, the capital city of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.

loved it! amazing rooms, service, and breakfast!”
After a less than comfortable overnight train from Bangkok and rain-soaked 40minute tuk-tuk ride from the Thanaleng station, the Salana Boutique Hotel was a welcome surprise. Only a few months old, the hotel had all the latest furnishings. The design was excellent and construction high quality. There was even a window in our shower that looked into a small meditation garden. The beds were extremely comfortable to sleep on and our window looked out onto a beautiful wat. I think the hotel is surrounded by wats on both sides so you'll always get a great view. The reception was extremely friendly and helpful--even letting us check in early around 10am. And, the breakfast was excellent! We also stayed at a slightly cheaper but new hotel, Sabaidee @ Lao Hotel. It was 20 USD cheaper than Salana, but definitely much worse. The whole time, we were wishing we had returned to the Salana Boutique. Final Verdict: This would be our top choice if we were to return to Vientiane.

Near-perfect experience in Vientiane”
The Salana Boutique Hotel is an excellent option in Vientiane. The location could not be better -- you are one block from the Mekong River and the night market; you are near temples and historic sites, and just four kilometers from the airport. The breakfast is extensive and delicious, catering to all tastes. There is a wide-variety buffet, plus ordering-off-the-menu options, which are also included in the price. The staff is as nice as it can be, and they leave you alone. The rooms are clean and reasonably spacious, the aircon works great, and the bathroom is modern and works well. The only downside is that is that there is no pool. However you can pay $20/person and use the pool at the Settha Palace Hotel -- which is much more elegant (and historic), but also a lot more expensive.

Wonderful Laos hotel, by any standard.”
we were not expecting much when we reached vientiane. to be honest, there were nothing much to do here compared to the rest of laos. so we were pleasantly surprised with salana boutique hotel. the room was comfortable, the amenities were great, but the rooftop bar on our level (four doors away) was the best. maybe we were bored, maybe we were thirsty for drinks but that rooftop bar delivered. it wasn't noisy, it was a quiet relaxing bar. there were only one other couple with us, but they left early. so we had the entire place to ourselves. good times, drinks were fantastic, food was delicious, they were showing epl. salana saved us from the boredom that is vientiane. go spend more days in luang prabang, it's ten times better than vientiane.

Nice Boutique Hotel in mid of the city”
The Salana Boutique Hotel is a very nice and cozy hotel in the city centre. All major sights can be reached by foot. The rooms are big and clean. All necessary facilities are available. The staff is very friendly and helps with all your wishes. The hotel is not on the river directly, but you can reach the riverfront walking in a few minutes. Around the hotel are a lot of restaurants, bars, hawker stalls etc. I can recommend it for a Vientiane city trip.

Outstanding Hotel”
We spent four nights at this superb hotel and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our stay. Admittedly, the hotel has no pool or gym, but that is a given before one makes a booking and is, therefore, effectively irrelevant. The room was on the small side, but it was extremely comfortable, well appointed and the decor was first class. It must be said that ALL staff were extraordinarily helpful and attentive, doing their utmost to make our stay a memorable one - which it was! The food in the hotel restaurant and 'living room' was excellent, and they have an impressive wine list. Breakfast was perhaps the most memorable part of our stay - something to which we looked forward every morning. The food on offer is varied and caters for Asian and Western preferences, with eggs being cooked to one's own preference, as well as a menu - in addition to the buffet section - which offers a lovely range of additional extras. The coffee was very good and the service amazing, but never excessive. I would thoroughly recommend Salana Boutique Hotel to anyone seeking a centrally located but quiet and pleasant place to stay. We will most definitely be going back to Vientane, largely to enjoy another stay at this excellent hotel. Thanks to all staff - from the front desk, the porters, the waiters, the cleaners and the chef!

Beautiful hotel, great location”
The Salana Boutique Hotel is a beautiful hotel, centrally located, and with good service. Nice clean and modern rooms, friendly and helpful staff. Free wi-fi in rooms, and free use of computers in the restaurant for those who travel without laptops. There's a new bar opening soon, but it wasn't ready when I was there. The breakfast buffet was adequate -- I've had better, but I've certainly had worse. Vientiane is a small and compact city (so no hotel in the 'downtown' area is out of the way) and the Salana is situated close to the main sights and attractions in the city (not that's there's a huge amount to do and see, apart from relax and enjoy the great chilled vibe).

A fantastic boutique hotel in a great location.”
I enjoyed my stay in Vientiane very much, and this was greatly influenced by my stay of 3 nights at the Salana Boutique Hotel. The staff there were very friendly and helpful, the accommodation was fantastic (clean and comfortable), and breakfast was excellent. The hotel is located just up from the Mekong River area and near the main street at the other end. The first events of Son Kran made the experience I had quite a lot of fun. People in Vientiane are friendly and the bike ride I had to the outskirts of the city was worth the effort. The markets are terrific.

Cool and modern, clean, pleasant and friendly”
It was my first visit to Laos. Although it was just a two-night business trip, I almost fell in love with Laos. Vientiane is a very small city. Many places and restaurants including awesome wine cellar restaurant are in walking distance from the hotel. Salana Boutique is not a grand luxury hotel. It is rather a modest-sized hotel with chic interior. The bar on the 4th floor was cool, the room was comfortable and the food in the grand floor was nice. Staff are well trained and friendly. They speak good English (especially resident manager Keota-san). If I have another chance to visit Vientiane, I would choose Salana again without hesitation.

Beautiful, loved the room and the staff”
i am in vientiane a lot and usually stay at lower level guesthouses, but given the write-ups about salana, and walking by it all the time, i wanted to try it out. i was absolutely not disappointed. the staff were delightful at check-in with a free cocktail as i was waiting. the room was decent-sized and the bed could have slept 5 people. everything was at the level of quality i expected from the reviews. i did not try the breakfast although it was included in my room price. the mini-bar was stocked better than any i have seen in vientiane. i will definitely be back! it definitely costs more than most places in vientiane, you can get by for much less, but salana takes it up several notches. i highly recommend it for the business traveler or people on vacation who are not backpackers!

Exceptional staff and sumptious buffet breakast”
I stayed at Salana Boutique Hotel just for one night, paid around USD110. Plus points: - The hotel is extremely tastefully decorated with natural textures and traditional arts/crafts, so it's very soothing and calming. - The staff are extremely warm, polite and helpful. - The room comes with complimentary fruit basket and turn down service (with a chocolate snack) - Location is great, just minutes away from the riverside and night market. - The breakfast makes up for the high price. Not only an extremely thoughtful and generous buffet spread with plenty of healthy options, but also special made-to-order eggs, pancakes, noodles, pasta, desserts etc. You will be spoilt for choice! I would recommend skipping dinner (or having minimal) the night before so you can fully enjoy the breakfast. Suggestions for improvement: - For the price point, the hotel could afford to provide better quality toiletries. -

Great Hotel and Clean”
Our stay was excellent at Salana Boutique. The hotel lobby is very clean. The guest rooms are great. The room has the rain shower which I really love it. I can say "Salana Boutique HOtel" is the best hotel in Vientiane. The hotel is very close to night market and breakfast are excellent. Next time if we visit Vientiane, we will surely stay at this hotel again.

Delightful”
Hotel opened in 2010. Room is good size. Bed and pillows are very comfortable. Bathroom and shower are good size and very clean. All amentities replenished every day. Windows can be opened when the night air is cooler. Very good breakfast selection. Internet sometimes extremely slow, but apparently that is a problem in Vientiane as other hotels also have slow Internet. Salana Boutique Hotel is in a good location within a few minutes walk from many restaurants and bars next to the river.

Great hotel, well appointed, good location”
Salana Boutique is located in the heart of the touristy area of Vientiane. A large percentage of the Wats are within a stones' throw. Walk downh to the river and turn left onto "Fa Ngum Road" and there is a reasonable collection of tourist eateries (less than 5 minutes walk). The hotel itself has very high standards and just about deserves a 4* rating. Staff were excellent. Breakfast was good. WiFi worked. View of Wat Impeng from my window was good. Very comfortable room. Felt "brand new". $8 airport shuttle. Not as good value as it's Thai equivalents (seems to apply to all Laos hotels I stayed in).

Wonderful Hotel”
Salana is one my top two favorite hotels in Vientiane when I want to splurge a bit and it is by no means a stretch. I think the bottom price I've found. On my last trip, the staff knew it was my birthday and even brought a cake and sang to my in my room, they also upgraded me for the night. It was very sweet and even more so when they found out I had a fever, they let the day staff know and everyone seemed genuinely concerned about me. There is an elevator. I love the tasteful way the hotel and rooms are decorated and the use of wood. They are very conveniently located to a number of restaurants, bars, the Riverfront, my work, etc. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Oh, they have a spa which I have yet to use and a business lounge/bar on the 4th floor.
